Discipline Update-
Food is going great. Have never eaten better in my life. Tons of veggies and good meat. Going really well. On day 9 of no refined sugar. Haven't had any junk food at all. No alcohol in that time either. Sleep is getting better. Chinese is getting there too.

that's awesome to hear.

feels great to eat like that, and no alcohol is awesome. keep it up! :highfive:

Eddy Souza, who i've mentioned here before, got 3rd OA at "Death at DuPuis Last Man Standing" .. an ultra where you run 5k every hour, for as long as possible.

seems like he got to 111 miles. I mean he has work & a fam so not sure if he stopped because of responsibilities.. apparently the other top two guys were battling well over 30 hours.

1st OA did 129 miles.

Good luck to Class 335 starting Hell Week tomorrow. Men don't get many chances to show their grit! U need to pray for bad weather, the coldest water & a broken fucking body! U should want the worst-case scenario in everything to do with Hell Week! Pray for it to be so hard that only ur fucking boat crew makes it all the way through! They make it through becuz u lead those mf’ers through the worst HW ever! U have to become the devil to get through Hell! This shit is about ur fucking mindset! If u are hoping for the best-case scenario in HW, u are not ready! Know that no mf’er can endure what u can- not becuz u are cocky rather becuz u have trained harder than any mf’er alive! U might think this is a fucking motivational speech...well, it's not!    This is my mentality before I go into any fucking war! HW is not for the weak! It's for that mf’er looking for the beginning of his soul! U want to see where most people’s desire & will ends & urs begins! Be the man who smiles when everyone is in pain & miserable w/ their heads hanging! Not a friendly smile but 1 that says, "you think this fucking shit can hurt me?!" This is ur  time to start creating the man u want to be! U can't make that man in a soft fucking environment! U must be willing to suffer more than any other! Not becuz u have to but because u want to! Many people are looking for hard shit to prove themselves but once the hard shit becomes reality, it is too much to bear. Be on the lookout for The Look! U will know it once u see it. It      looks like their soul is leaving their body. It happens during deep suffering when a person can no longer handle the mental pain & suffering of what they THOUGHT they could do. After you see The Look, quitting is very near. My ? to u is this...What the fuck are u going to do when ur balls are in ur stomach from the cold? when ur body is broke as fuck & u have 50 hours left? when ur boat crew starts to quit and u feel alone? when it won't stop raining and u can't get warm? I don't know what you’re going to do but u asked me for my advice so here's what the fuck I did....I prayed to God to even make it worse! Mindset: go to war with yourself! David Goggins, Class 235

double race day!

12k race recap:
- barely a warmup (got there kinda late - 15min before the race), but felt great, knew it wouldn't be a problem
- ran alone by a big gap, nothing really to report
- mostly pitch dark race, being that it started at 6 AM ET.. i really enjoy those. fun to see the sun coming up slowly etc.
- lead cyclist made sure i didn't run over a banana: "watch out for this banana!"

5k race recap:
- felt decent and awful simultaneously
- felt decent in that my legs still felt fast & loose
- felt awful in that they were annoyed of running fast on road surface
- weird combo..
- race starts, two guys go out at ~6:00-ish pace. one guy i know but i wasn't too worried about him.
- the other was this young h.s. kid, who looked so relaxed, so fresh, effortless pace.. and here i am feeling every stride.
- so i stuck behind them for 0.5 mi.
- then i said, ok this is lame, i'll just try to build a gap and see if the h.s. kid goes
- so i just took off and built a gap and that was that
- nice kid tho

in both races, this lady on bike lead me through the course. this lady was 1 of four cyclists who helped lead various groups of people out, so that they don't get lost etc, and allow the mass of people to form the 'line' of where to go. so since i was out in front in both races by alot, she stayed with me and her teammates stayed back. she did a great job, telling me when mile markers were coming up, alerting the water people that i was coming (which I never used, NO WATER), and alerting me of potholes etc.. she also threw out words of support etc. this group does that for coral springs races, they are amazing. the first time i experienced it was last year's coral springs half marathon, it was incredible. since the pack was 3 people, we had 3 bikes.. and they'd offer us water etc as we were running. it was awesome. i took a few sips but that was it, scared of drinking. other guys drank alot & took gels. but anyway, point is, this cyclist team does an incredible job.

inhaled lots of police motorcycle fumes, lol.. which sucks but, also means it wasn't windy!!! so that was good. :ninja:

hah cool!

i got 2 nice finish line clips. will post tmw!

17:15 <@run> OMFG a pacer just collapsed, pacing a mile or something
17:15 <@run> and might be dying
17:15 <@run> on nbc
17:15 <@run> milrose games

they had to "shock him" with an IED... dude that's not good.

:(

hope somehow he doesn't die that is insane.

edit: the shotputters were praying.. :/

edit: they stretchered him off with oxygen/shirt off/blanket covering most of him. he didn't look good. fuck that is awful. really hoping he is ok.

i actually think about that happening to me quite often.. heart can just give out whenever. freaky to think about. :/

got it done! won both! second race (5k) was closer.. legs were toast. but hit the gas and made sure to not let a high school whippersnapper beat me lmfao!

so now the question is.. should I sign up for a marathon on Sunday (next week)? I mean.. I don't plan on racing it "slow", i'd like to see how long I can hold 5:5X min/mi splits, and then transition it into whatever. if I could hold it for 10 miles, that'd be an enormous PR.. if I hold it for 13.1 miles, enormous PR. if I hold it for 15 miles.. would put me in good position to actually top3 a marathon, even if I turned it into 6:10-6:30's afterwards....

going to be hard for me to maintain a solid pace with my light af shoes on the roads tho.. but i think i could get pretty far with a decent pace.

might sign up soon :D :ibrunning:

solid kick to end both races! (4:1X-4:2X min/mi). both races ~5:5X min/mi, so 5:5X min/mi for ~10.6 miles or something.
