Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: THE DREAM JOURNAL
« on: March 07, 2017, 02:09:16 am »
had a deeply fucked up dream last night.

my brothers and i found out that our dad was planning to kill us, and that he was in a big brick house preparing to do it. so my brother lincoln got a few revolvers and we went to get him first. we snuck into the house and split up. i was going room by room doing that thing you see people do in movies when i looked down some stairs into the basement and saw him walking around. he had some materials with him that made it clear he was planning to trap and torture us down there. he didn't see me. somehow i knew he would come up to the kitchen so i went in there and pointed my gun at the door. my heart was in my throat.

as soon as he walked in, i yelled, "freeze! don't move!" and he stopped. then he laughed and said, "well, guess you got me." i pointed my gun at him and he just kept laughing. then i pulled the trigger and it just clicked over to the next chamber. lincoln hadn't loaded the gun! i kept clicking and my dad kept laughing, very relaxed, until finally the last chamber had a bullet in it and i shot him right in the middle of the forehead. and then i burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably with grief and relief.

a little while later he was alive again, but we still had him captured. he was still laughing and relaxed, and i was just so confused and anguished, asking him over and over why he wanted to kill us, was he this person all along, a psychopath? [it bears mentioning here that in real life i love my dad and have a wonderful relationship with him.] and he just sneered. at one point he stripped down to his underwear and put on a bright red dress and walked around the house, continuing to blow off my questions. my phone buzzed and when i pulled it out, a lot of the app icons were thumbnails of calvin and hobbes comics. i clicked on one and it brought up a strip that had the dad in it. since i was a little kid i've thought that calvin's dad might as well be a caricature of my dad: skinny, round glasses, big nose, bald, ride bikes and hate drivers, think chores build character. as soon as i saw the strip i burst into tears again.

then i woke up.

There has been an annual Oxford-Cambridge lacrosse game for 101 years.

thanks. today was better than yesterday, so that's a start. plus i managed to both get to the gym and avoid pushing myself in my excitement to be working out again.  :highfive:

OTOH, saw a new gym buddy and after i said i was sick he said, "you look weaker." lol, thanks bro.  ::)

SORENESS: none
ACHES/INJURIES: giardia
MENTAL STATE: good

- warm up
incline walk @6kph x 10 mins

- pull up x 5,5,5,5,5,5
this is better than sets of 8, can do more reps. takes about the same amount of time, too, because i don't need as much rest between sets. will try working up to 6x6.

- DB OHP 12s x 20

- hyper x 20

- TTB x 10

- CoC @T x 5,5,5/hand

- shoulder dislocates x 10,10

- stretch

baby steps. still need to be resting.

it surprises me that you can actually get a lacrosse ball over there. are people starting to play or are they sold as PT aids?

The biggest concern about doing a lot training but almost no SPP: my body will adapt to lifting and once I'm recovered I'll be slow again because I haven't been doing any speed, plyos, explosive work or any sort of SPP. These sorts of concerns almost make me think I would be better off not doing anything except the stuff I'm doing now

first: that blows, sorry you're hurt especially right at the beginning of the season.

second: definitely do some training. it can't hurt you to be a bit stronger in the upper body and core. you'll de-adapt to speed and jumping whether you sit on your ass and do fuck-all or spend some time in the pool and in the weight room. careful with throwing, it's harder on your knees than it seems because of all the rotation.

nope. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/metabolic-rate-overview.html/

Quote
Since it’s usually impractical to sit and figure out the individual TEFs for each nutrient, the normal estimate used is 10% of total caloric intake. So if you consume 3000 calories per day of a relatively ‘normal’ mixed diet, you can assume that your TEF is about 300 calories per day or so. You also generally find that, with the exception of extreme diets (such as all protein), shuffling macronutrients has a pretty minimal overall impact on metabolic rate via TEF.

still sick, probably giardia, sucking it up and going to the doctor in an hour. and taking a day off work. except i'll still work some today because shit's gotta get done.

not soldiering through feels weak and lame, but after hearing a story about giardia laying a friend of a friend up for weeks, i shall swallow my pride.

EDIT: confirmed, giardia. rx is two separate courses of antibiotics, five days each with a two-day break. nausea is a side effect of the first drug, which should be a blast. no booze until i'm through the treatment. if i feel okay i'll exercise but it'll be of the yoga/lightweight variety, nothing heavy. on the plus side my knee feels okay today.

3044
fucked up my knee this afternoon casually trying to touch the roof over the carport at my friend's place. submax drop-step, felt it immediately, thing is really sore now. damn it.

for DL grip, try hook grip. super uncomfortable at first, hands adapt. makes a big difference.
