such a horrible missed call to end the Florida/Auburn game..

6s left - UF down 3. missed freethrow by UAB, UAB wants to foul. UF gets it passed half court. UAB *rakes* the UF guy as he's chucking up a three.. DELIBERATE FOUL. Trying to foul him on the floor but he got the shot up with someone raking his arms. No whistle at all.

that's some bad reffing.

Hello fellows

It has been a rough year so far, time spent between mental wards and in terrible headspace.

damn :/

Quote
Athletically I have gotten way out of shape, put on weight, although still moderately strong.

I went from 19-'s to ~210 because of constant stress eating. I have my final sectionals coming up, so it would be nice to get below 200 and bump up my conditioning (I ran a 8:00 mile). Eccentric strengthening would also be good  for on field success.

good to hear from you.

conditioning is good .. even if it's just for the mental aspect of it. personally, stuff that involves more work helps me clear my mind better. ie, i may go into some session thinking about too much garbage, and it just won't get out of my head, but by 1.5 hours it's usually all gone. same thing i've noticed with jump rope recently.. first 20 or so minutes i count each turn. as i get closer to 30 minutes, i just stop counting, and keep going. by an hour i'm constantly zoning out with much less conscious brain activity. that's something i love about "long duration conditioning". IMHO, best natural method to remove noise from the brain. can do similar stuff with less duration, with things like 400m repeats and such etc. so that stuff works well too. i don't' recall experiencing that with lifting, in fact it's probably the opposite. lifting made me way too aggressive and crazy. just my quick 2cents on a mental benefit of conditioning.

pc!

i imagine i'll figure out how to overdo it tho.

no doubt. why do we do that? i figured out how to overdo carefully and gradually adding weekly mileage: go for a hike! smh.

a few theories:
1. we get obsessed with things that aren't "natural" (like most athletic obsessed humans)
2. our bodies are more brittle than our brains
3. regardless of what it is, we slowly drift towards "excess"

tbh i think it has to do more with #1.

humans do weird stuff.

i mean training for vert is pretty ridiculous.. what we want, we cannot have, unless we work really hard/smart for it - for a very long time, then we can potentially get a small taste of victory.. then it could be gone in an instant. and throughout that process, there's a high probability of substantial ups & downs, especially due to injury. i think that's just "normal" when things don't make sense. lots of people don't get hurt who just train very "gentle" lol. but they also don't usually make massive transformations in performance - but they are fine with that. so that's cool.

that's one of the problems of having "lofty" athleticism goals.

tbh i'm fine with just running to enjoy it. it'd suck if i couldn't race, but i'd hate to not be able to run slow. this is a major shift from how my basketball/boxing/dunk obsessed days were. i think that's mental progress finally.

it's why i can back off much more easily now when i tweak shit/feel stuff coming on etc. but even with that, racing makes me run harder than i should, which can lead to breakdown.

and now i'm doing crazy high volume lunge shit again, wrecking my glutes/ischial tuberosity's. lmfao. :ninja:

pc!! :highfive:

race day but, aborted it.

Need to back off this week. Got some “ischial bursitis” going on (left leg). I’ve had this before quite a few times. This one seems a bit more significant than most though sooo… need to be careful. I was flying easy when I tweaked it on Wednesday, felt great. fu*k. I’ll probably still do jump rope (feels fine) and some crazy slow running (as long as there’s 0 sign of pain etc).

Have two big races the next 2 weeks: 10 miler saturday, half marathon 2 the following saturday. As of right now, looks like I might have to miss the 10 miler. I’ll try really hard to heal up for the half, somehow. Would really suck to miss that race. If i’m not near 100% though I won’t force anything, being injured isn’t worth it.

03/10/2019

diet:
- ate great/light

07:30 AM: Hearts at Work 5k: abort 0.5 mi in (left glute/hamstring still tweaked) ::: feel really good today too. sucks.

- 2nd AG @ 26:13 (hehe)
- small race. got a cool shirt.

might not be healthy for some big races coming up. that'd suck. the glute tweak i did this weak was dumb - dumb - dumb. i shut it down immediately. it actually felt pretty bad while jogging it out, so i def re-tweaked it somewhat. left hamstring/glute/low back feel lame.

whatever. going to just cross train & run light. if healthy i'll race.

09:00 AM: speed rope: 1h15m
- https://www.strava.com/activities/2204199813
- first mess up: 16:37!

seems like a safe cross training tool. i imagine i'll figure out how to overdo it tho. need to be safe.

Latest jump vid on insta around 34-36". I wasn't expecting to jump quite so high otherwise I  would have prepped the session better (had the phone by the sideline .. far for a clear video). Not bad for my 2nd jump session of the season .. can't wait to lose some of this deadweight and switch over to the peaking phase of training.

Also found out that if i jump without the ball i can get a nice athletic looking approach to the rim from the left side of the rim. Which is interesting because i do most of my jumping on the R side which is my least athletic side because im very slow approaching from the right of the rim. I am left handed by the way. Left of the rim im much faster but with the caveat that i can't jump well or so i thought, except it seems that only applies with the ball. Im a goofy jumper by the way which is why all of this is the wrong way around.

latest I see is the 32"? you speaking of that one or a new one? anyway, nice.

damn you have to tell us how you increased your vert from 12" to 34-36" in a few days. :ninja:

Alright, in the middle of warmups for leg day and decided to test the SVJ. We have some of the Olympic ring things (? Lol) in the studio room in adjustable straps. So I measured them out and just kept moving them up. They're in the corner so nervous about using them for RVJ but... one jump at 35", two at 34ish and the first one at 32+/- a tad. Attempts went 32, 34, 35, 36(f), 34 barely.

Will figure out a halfway decent way to test all the RVJ variations as I lift tonight I hope.

jumping to olympic rings is pretty cool. :ibjumping:

Bball update!

I played 1v1 with a 52 year old HUMAN, much more skilled the 62 year old who defeated me a few days ago (ie the old man game of the meme above). I'm sure if he didnt have such an impressive tan he'd still be really good. 52 year old though. I was able to win but he was much better at basketball. he was sinking 1 handed 3 pointers and posting me up without any trouble. but my jumper was on and he even complimented how nice my form was. i did drive on him a few times just to practice and i cud do that with ease .. now i wanna try against younger guys lol. I posted him up once and i must have stronger than i think cos i cud man handle him. Also the funny thing is he was wearing a Manu Ginobili singlet so im sure he has a soft spot for us lefties .. we do look pretty i know .. come to think of it he didn't contest a single of my jumpers .. no wonder i hit them all. anywayyyyyyy

altho i will add that apparently he had been playing since 11am .. and i got there around 4pm .. so all things considered .. i was fresh and he was spent. i still suck .. but i suck a little less than i did a few days ago.

tldr: from losing to a 62 yaer old .. i beat a 52 year old 3 days later. this is progress ..

reading "I played 1v1 with a 52 year old HUMAN" makes me chuckle. it looks so weird.

I guess you can technically drop "HUMAN" since it's implied. If you play a POLAR BEAR, then it makes sense to include it. lmfao.

"I played 1v1 with a 52 year old"

"I played 1v1 with a 52 year young"

"I played 1v1 with a person"

"I played 1v1"
