wow good shit. remember we had that discussion about whether it was better to have identical splits and try to get PR's or just try to keep up with the leading person. Good to see your approach has worked so well that now you are the leading person for some races  :o

sb squat 285 4*5
-SI joint still bothering me

decline situps 3*15

sprint treadmill intervals
-max resistance 5*40 steps, 45 second jog rests
-5 min rest
-max resistance 3*40 steps, 45 second jog rests

its been 30 mins - i threw up a few times and still not through feeling completely terrible. ughhhhhh. it will pass

you threw up a few times from the sprints? damn

one of those max-V treadmills?

also how's the drawing and such now that the pins are out?

yep. oddly enough i think the throwing up is more of a mental thing, because i had eaten like 3-4 hours before. i knew i was going to feel really shitty if i went for the second set but decided to do it anyway.

it is a max-v treadmill, but cranking up the resistance all the way makes it sort of like a really high resistance push sled.

the drawing is going great, thanks for asking. planning on making an instagram for some of my works so be on the lookout for that  :D

3/4

contrast set *3 (long rests):
-safety bar jump BSS 105 *7 /ea side
-1-step SLRVJ *3 /ea leg

various jumps *~15
-both SLRVJ's over 31", R-SLRVJ might have been as high as 33.5" which is PR level
-1-step DLRVJ took a big drop-off, around 31-32". 3-step is around 34"
-SVJ and 1-step both irritate the SI Joint

cable ham hyper (slow ecc):
35 3*7 /ea side

back extension:
290 3*8

sprint treadmill intervals
-max resistance 5*40 steps, 45 second jog rests
-5 min rest
-max resistance 4*40 steps, 1*50 steps 45 second jog rests

Didn't throw up this time! Also happy that my SIJ isn't fucking with my jumps too much.

so the si joint really took a beating during the last session
its still a little fucked up. im beginning to think ive had this problem a long time only the bigger symptoms were dormant - ive always had issues with my left leg: chronic groin pains, weird immobility and naturally asymmetrical posture that came and went and no matter what my left leg was always a little weaker. will see physio asap

on the other hand my hand is improving constantly!

3/2

alternating sb step up hops:
105 4*16

good mornings:
 125 *8

450*8 (pause)
500*8 (pause)

-russian twists w/ med ball:15lbs *15
-bicycles * 15,15,10
-deadbugs *15, 11+4, 10

how come you keep the sprint volume so low for your running sessions? 5*50m seems like not a whole lot. how has that approach worked for you?

i remember reading somewhere that fast twitch muscles have the capacity to be trained only in the first 10-20 mins of a session so you might be onto something. was pretty skeptical about that tho, i think the source was like twicethespeed or kbands or something so not super reliable

not as sore as i expected, mainly tib anteriors and peroneals. doing some foot-ankle-lower leg specific work would probably not hurt my running. more pirouettes, maybe some SL calf raises, some heel walking, and more mobility. shoulder feels good, which is (1) a surprise and (2) awesome.

also, my pulling last night was fucking awesome. helped that there was a light cross breeze but i coffin-cornered a couple of floaters and put everything high and more or less where i wanted. it's not like i was holding back too much for the shoulder's sake after i got warmed up. good sign. otherwise skills are rusty -- and as FP will tell you i was never a great player to begin with -- but my baseline is still much higher than anyone else who plays here. i love frisbee.

how would i tell anyone that lol, we havent ever played together. good to hear about the pulls, as the designated team puller i get streaks of 3-6 excellent ones followed by some bad ones. i pull exclusively IO tho which is known to less consistent

eh, i figure i can get a pretty good sense of how good someone is after drilling and throwing around with them for a while, which we have done. there are exceptions, of course -- i used to play rec with a longtime truck stop veteran who had competent but not spectacular throws and didn't look very fast, but was an animal as a d-line cutter and possession handler. never made mistakes, mental game was exceptional. but most of the time elite players are either notably fast and bouncy and/or have notably superior throws even warming up. there's a smoothness, consistency, whatever.

same with any sport. i once watched david nalbandian warm up from about 12 feet away and it was like, oh yeah he's doing a different thing than i'm doing when i hit a tennis ball around. the gap between me and an elite ultimate player is much narrower than the gap between me and david nalbandian, but it's still there and i feel like it was obvious when we threw around especially given how rusty i was. maybe i'm wrong.

anyway my point is i'm a decent but sub-elite ultimate player.

also my lower legs still hurt like the dickens today. DOMS blows.

ETA: yeah i was pulling flat, from the downwind side of the field. for whatever reason i was just nailing it. on reflection i think it might have helped that i was packing my shoulder more than usual and the compact motion gave me more control without sacrificing power. for years i modeled my pulling motion on will neff, who was the greatest puller i've ever seen -- once watched him get a callahan on a pull that he threw. but he's a tall, lanky, loose dude, and his shoulder came all the way out and around on the backswing. that might be what got me into trouble last august.

Fair enough. It would still be very hard for me personally to evaluate your Ultimate ability based on the throwing, marking and the little bit of disc chasing we did. I think mental vigilance, field sense and footwork/balance are 3 of the most important things (or maybe I overvalue them because that's what I struggle with the most) and I have no way to measure any of them. Also, you are probably decently explosive but I don't actually remember. It would probably be different watching a top level player though... Still I believe you can't judge a player until you actually see them play. speaking of which im going to breeze tryouts to watch some of my buddies try out as well as take notes on top players. should be fun

My pulls are really loose, full ROM, go very high, work well RL-crosswind and upwind. biggest strength is tons of hang time. I wholly believe in changing your pulling technique as well as the side you pull from based on the wind. Should definitely work on my flats more, that's the way to go in LR-cross and downwind.

I think you're right about there being no good reason to support the meat industry. It's just what people do because it doesn't require going against the grain and taking on the personal burden of such a big issue.

It's definitely something I will consider more seriously when I'm older, living on my own and have sorted out other things in my life.

I like the idea of hunting. Giving an animal (what can be called) a natural life cycle death and hunting ethically where animals are in overpopulation, possibly damaging to the environment makes sense to me. Many animals hunt and I'm sure some previous generations of humans were really reliant on that too.

What do you all think about the argument that the individual cannot make any real change with such a big issue? This is the argument I would make normally against going vegan, but lately I feel a need to be responsible for things I care about even if it doesn't make a huge difference.

I also don't want to be overwhelmed with the amount of things I do that support activities I don't agree with. Shopping at walmart, eating mcdonalds, not picking up trash etc. This girl I know literally takes it upon herself to pick up trash in the city on the way home from work. I can't dedicate my whole life to avoiding contributing to big problems..

And where would I draw the line? I don't think killing rats is morally wrong. I'm not sure how I feel about killing a rabbit.

i don't know about that but you're an animal right now. broken/repaired wrist, still doing weighted single leg hops and all kinds of crazy shit. respect.

;D I was feeling kinda down and this really brought me up when I read it. On further analysis this is a successful compliment because it acknowledges my perseverance in the face of adversity and approval for unconventional exercise selection, both things I take lots of pride in.

Unfortunately I have developed some kind of back problem which I strongly suspect might be a slipped disc or spondylolisthesis and has not gone away with rest. Pretty much takes away the remaining exercises I could do after my wrist injury. Will see doc asap

i think the further away your rep range gets from singles the less accurate it is as an indicator of 1rm. fast hit 315*10 and his highest single is 395.
dont see a lot of higher rep ranges in your log, you might be deficient there. those higher reps might be where a lot of the gains are at, so its good that youre changing it up
