Basketball / Re: A WHOLE BUNCH OF DUNKS AND SHIT.
« on: August 28, 2011, 11:39:52 pm »

saw this today, i don't know if it's been posted before. but i thought it was insane; the speed, the plant, the jump, etc.

I thought that guy looked an awful lot like Tobias Harris. (The first guy who dunks). I ate dinner with him and some guys the other night. Cool dude.

I'm 99.99% sure that is tobias. they both went to the same school, have similar frames/builds, and both wore 12.

edit: you ate with him recently? who else did you eat with? did you talk to him about being in the league? do you play ball?

Not trying to name names or anything. I know and play ball with quite a few of the former Vol players from Tennessee. Mostly ones from 2-3 years ago. But I was eating with some of them and he came and ate with us. Didn't really get to talk to him much as he was on the other end of the table. But him and Chris Lofton are in town still working out. Tobias is here still cause the NBA is locked out and Chris is about to leave because he just signed a huge deal with a team in Spain.

Both are great guys, phenomenal basketball players and just plain fun to be around. He doesn't play pick up with us any because he's usually doing training when we play but he said he'll try to come out some time. I doubt he will though as busy as he is. Cool guy though, hope he does well in the league.

Article & Video Discussion / Re: What makes an "elite" athlete"
« on: August 18, 2011, 11:02:37 pm »
Being an elite athlete, in my opinion, means doing something better than 99.9% of everyone else trying to do the same thing.

99.8% = not elite. Just my opinion though.

meaningless arbitrary number is meaningless and arbitrary. see my response for the correct answer.

Never said you were wrong. We both stated our opinions. Just so you know, you don't have to agree with mine; that's what opinions are all about.  :D

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: ADARQ's journal
« on: August 09, 2011, 10:54:10 pm »
What are you doing to cut Adarq? I'm at 218 (down from 222), and I'd like to get down to around 200 again to lower my bodyfat% and reduce the load on my knees. Then as I increase my strength build my weight back up to 215-ish but continue with the low bodyfat. I'm at 18%bf (which surprised me a bit) and I'd like to get down to single digits.

I'm in the process of changing my diet and trying to exercise more outside of just basketball. Any tips? Thanks bro.

Congratulations Amy Winehouse, 4 days sober.

Every now and then I come back to watch that gif. That is my all time favorite of all the gifs you've posted. Thank you.

Been fasting since 3:30am (it's 4:15pm here now). Can't eat or drink till 8pm.

Could never understand what food has to do with God or religion.

It's not about the food bud. It's symbolic. It can be a fast from anything.

Basketball / Re: awesome idea, basketball courts scada networks

I'd rather have a network that told me what courts people were playing at...I guess it could also give updates on weather conditions.

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: Sinus Problems
« on: August 04, 2011, 07:10:31 pm »
I'm not Lance or Adarq, but I had a similar problem growing up.

You need to go see an allergist. It helped me, and now for the last 6 years or so I've had little to no problems with my nose being blocked up (except of course, the natural runny-noses you get in winter-time). But seriously, allergists can find out what's activating your sinus' issues most of the time.

I've also had friends swear by using NettiPots (spelling may not be right). One of my buddies is a pretty semi-successful country singer. He has baaaad sinuses and uses them to clean out his nose before he sings or records tracks.

Hope that helps.

Other than that, I'll let the other guys say if it will hinder your progress, but I would assume not too much...unless you just stop breathing altogether.  ;D

KD = my favorite NBA player.

That being said, I've always loved this YT clip:

brb sprinting bilaterally.

That's why for me - jumping off two has never been natural. When you walk/run you don't bounce on two feet. Jumping is just an exaggerated, longer "step" on one leg to me. And we're built to move unilaterally.

That's why for me- jumping off one leg has never been natural. When you jump/squat you don't bounce on one foot. Jumping is just an exaggerated, longer "jump squat" on two feet to me. And we're built to jump bilaterally.

(I actually jump off 1 foot as well, but jumping off 2 never felt natural to you because you are uncoordinated, not because it's a weird movement).

I jump off both 1 and 2 feet pretty darn good. Both feel completely natural. Maybe I'm just uber-coordinated.

that isn't natural blu, we are unilateral creatures blu.

After my 3rd knee surgery on my left knee I had to reduce the amount I jumped off one footed. It was only natural for me to adapt and become a better 2 footed jumper. So the first 16 years of my life, off 1 foot, the next 5 or so off two foot. The last 3 or so I've done both pretty darn well. They both feel completely natural in different situations that they are required for. Just sayin'.

ya i was kidding mang.. hah

Gah, there's no telling anymore. Someone really needs to create a sarcasm font.
