I don't like speed squats either. Better options with jump squats and plyos from all kinds of perspectives.

Yes but one thing you guys don't look at is that in a explosive squat your eccentric phase is also slower than in a jump.

Say you do explosive squats with 285 lbs and you compare these with standing vertical jumps with your bodyweight. The eccentric phase in the squats is so much slower than in a SVJ done at the same depth of the dip, and that slower eccentric in the squat allows the build-up of tension and the recruitment of more motor neurons than in a SVJ.

And since that is happening, you can actually target all these motor neurons and overload them in the concentric phase (since they are already activated) and make them act more explosively than in a SVJ where you can't get all these motor neurons to fire.

You can mess around with grease the groove pistol squat and king deadlifts.

Also, if it's convenient and you can carry something with you, you could get a kettlebell and do KB swings.

But the pistol squats (even box versions of them) - you can do them anywhere. Pushups and one-arm pushups - anywhere. Chinups - on any "bar"... crunches and planks... anywhere.

One thing you guys are overlooking, which is a HUGE factor in kingfishs ankle dorsi flexion is he is purposely squatting on the front of his feet.  Even with weightlifting shoes on his heels come off the floor at times. This will drastically alter the perception of dorsi flexion in a normal squat with the weight on mid foot/heel.   Hes obviously adapted to this and his knees are fine, but trying to copy that aspect of his squat will hurt a lot athletes who are not Kingfish and do not have his proportions nor time spent  building strength in that movement pattern.

balls of the feet. if we have to land on them with forces coming from plyometrics.. 2-2.5BW in a slow controlled movement should be a lot easier to adapt to.

i concentrate on heel pushing on goodmornings.. never on the squats.

Thank you. I'm tired of this "push it through the heels" thing. I mean I know it's a good cue for beginners not to go with crazy knee overloads but everything that occurs athletically occurs at the balls of the feet.

If that should be replicated in the gym and if we should strive for pure specificity - I would say no. But if you're able to safely, then you should go for it.

I honestly don't know why everyone is so excited about this? You've got LBJ, one of the most athletic players in the league, blocking Tiago who is extremely UNathletic. Its not like he met him at the top of the box or anything. The only impressive part is how weak Tiago is...Lebron straight up stopped his dunk motion. He should have tried to put LBJ in the rim lol!

Cliffs: Lebron is strong, TS is not. My thoughts lol

Amazing!

So the half-deadlift would suck for you since you have beast hamstrings!
