pause before lift off, and his loading shoes pretty much deform like.... rubber.

like...he is standing on the side of his shoes....

talk about.. FORCE he generated....

If i am not mistaken.. the first loading foot load and jump, the 2nd foot is the STOPPing and redirecting force from hori to vertical ....

with that said... his first loading foot is already... Turned and sort of stopping already...

i'd refer to it more like range of motion. i mean it's not really his shoe deforming, it's more of his ankle everting. it's definitely some extreme eversion, crazy.

ZION deforms his shoe. haven't really seen people deform their shoe like ZION, lmao.

overanalysis would be, everything you said AND saying something like "if only my ankle did that in the plant, i'd jump much higher. i'm going to try and consciously roll my ankle in the plant to try and jump like that. ill stop doing normal sane/sensible stuff, and do ankle roll drills for weeks, and then slowly build back up into a full run up, making sure my ankle rolls with each successive step added".. or even worse, not doing it yourself, but trying to convince others they should do it. "you can't jump high because your ankle deformation isn't like this guy's <insert video here>".

IMHO, over analysis is observing something & then thinking the way you do things is inadequate or incorrect, and then trying to implement the fairy tale observation.

it's fun & cool to point out things like this.. we've done it on the forum tons of times.

It'd be like analyzing Nadal's forehand, Federer's etc. It's cool to analyze the differences etc. But you don't see someone like Federer trying to acquire Nadal's forehand and visa versa etc.. Those guys have their form at this point. They may make some very small changes, but they aren't looking at another player and trying to mimic their technique/form etc. Instead, they mostly try and make their strengths stronger, and improve weaknesses, and play a ton of tennis. They rarely make huge sweeping changes. I can't think of anyone who has done that.

If elite athletes thought of their form/technique/abilities as inadequate, you'd see massive transformations more often - instead, you rarely find any. In basketball, you might say someone developed a jump shot. Usually it's more likely that they developed the confidence to shoot jump shots, not that they developed one so late in their life.

If developing such skills were easy, you'd see someone like Shaq learn to shoot free throws.. or anyone for that matter, who struggles.

I'm just throwing out some skill-sport examples, because you'd think learning to shoot a freethrow would be easy, since the athlete has complete control over the movement. It's not.

Going back to jumping, running, sprinting, etc: there's so many different styles that express similar elite performance.

update: last night stretching

crazy weird. was flexible as fu*k. well, not too weird: I think 3 days off had something to do with it. i've mentioned it before, days off improve my flexibility more than stretching.. :ninja: was nuts tho, got into positions that I can't ever get into, especially with hamstrings.

helped my right glute/hip ALOT.

left hamstring tendon is acting up tho.. but that's from other stuff.

also left foot was wrecked yesterday and a little today.. but started disappearing.

2 sessions:

AM: 38 min very light

PM: 36 min very light
- 150 SPM ^^ LMFAO.
- that's an insanely slow cadence..



loool. 149 SPM for mile 3.

crazy.

< 150 SPM is really low. doubt I could go < 140.

ya it's one "problem" of just posting the vids, it's like 10% of the picture.

also, if you're being aggressive & staying consistent, our feedback shouldn't be to fancy - that's the most important part of the formula. there's no magic anyone on here can offer, other than to get you to ignore people who give you bad advice, so that you can stay focused without listening to their cocktail of snakeoil.

let the rain piss you off and jump tomorrow. that forced downtime can be a good thing, it can make you more aggressive the next day. if it's always raining then ya that's a problem, need to find a gym etc.. but i had MANY dunk sessions rained out, which would make me so damn aggressive the day after. I live in South Florida, it rains alot. I'd be all amp'd up to dunk and it'd get rained out. Then i'd get really antsy/pissed and jump extremely hard the next day.

that goes back to the mechanical theme.

go with the flow, and bring it.

cool to hear you're still training.

you had some great full run up jumps in that first vid. even some in the second vid. more dunk sessions with someone who knows how to throw half decent lobs (like that guy) would be a great idea.

in alot of that later footage, your jumps are looking very mechanical, very robotic. the stuff that apparently "looks slow" is great, and the 1-step over mechanical 1-step jumps are ridiculous - even though you got up good on a few.

you think too much. all someone has to do is tell you that your form/mechanics/plant look "slow" and then you'll change everything you're doing.

also tell Andy N to go fuck himself. "stop doing full approach jumps because your last two steps look slow", give me a break. maybe i'm reading too much into it, but it sounds like the typical garbage to me.

btw it's t0ddday method. t0ddday aka Tade.

your t0ddday method measurement is 1-step? I find that hard to believe. i've seen you way higher with a full run up than off of 1-step.



what's your strength at? is it improving? how often are you lifting? how often are you jumping? what's your diet/sleep like? are your jump sessions fatigued? do you have some peak days - well rested jump sessions?

your pattern is, when things are working, and actually starting to work better, you think they aren't working, or someone tells you you're too slow, and then you change things up and do something very different, or perhaps take extended time off, then come back to it etc.

get stronger, jump often, jump hard, stop thinking, and don't listen to anybody, including me, and especially people who tell you you're too slow in the plant or any of that absolutely idiotic bullshit. they are clueless. purge them from your brain.

your jumps look great.
