damn klay looks pretty hurt.

3 point show for both teams right now. was down to 4 but GSW blew it back up to 10. i think it's back down to 7.

Realised I logged in km yesterday rather than miles, lol. I have my watch in km and strava in miles so that I can finally build an inuitive sense of how to convert them.

hah. i have a good grasp on pace km to min/mi conversions for <= 3:05 only. distance conversions are decent across the board.

you going to night of the 10k pb's this year?

last year's results are so crazy.

world lead 10k this year, prior to Rhonex dropping 26:50, was like 27:30.. and a dude dropped 27:35 at no10kpbs last year, several 27:XX's.

https://www.thepowerof10.info/results/results.aspx?meetingid=234742&pagenum=1#10000

crazy.

Yeah those lunges left me sore lol. Probably stupid to expect to pb 2 days after that

loool.

I did run though, 21.27. Paced it all wrong, had loads in the tank, was going full out for the last 50m and overtook quite a few people (I'm a considerably better sprinter than I am distance runner lol, just purely from basketball and lifting)

nice!

if you can go full out like that, def more in the tank. good stuff on sore legs.

Do they have park run in the US? I think it's the best thing ever, there are at least 5+ in my city alone. There were over 500 people there today with the winner running a serious time of 16:05 and the slowest people coming in at 60mins, pushchairs, dogs etc, is great. I was chasing this little kid who was probably about 10 the whole way round, blew past him in the last 30m tho lol  :trolldance:

ya that's cool.

no park runs around here that i know of. i think in some cities there are, like NY etc. but around here, it's just (non-free, promoted) races every weekend. most don't get 500 people either.

big races get 500-1000+ but that's the minority of races.

^^ long story short, I might have worked some magic on myself. I got really annoyed at the injury and just tried to stretch the living fu*k out of it - which I knew could be a very bad idea. This was up there with the longest & most intense i’ve ever stretched.

holding stretch positions for 5-10 minutes and such is very difficult. you have to focus so hard on just staying relaxed & calm. really controlling your breathing, trying to just melt into it, and then hold with no protective tension.

could be a David Goggins moment lol. He’s well known for 2-3 hour stretch sessions every night. I def don’t want to get into that… But sometimes your body is just urging you to do some intense stretching, it feels like an instinct. Apparently he fixed his jacked up body (from stress/training) by really committing to stretching.

when I was stretching yesterday, I wasn’t thinking about the injured area actually healing… I just wanted it to release it’s grip for a while and fucking relax.

would be amazing if it’s fixed now.

pc!

it was NOT a fluke.

magically, I feel healed.

mind blowing.

06/02/2019:
- hamstrings sore (a ripped to shreds kind of feeling)
- feel so light today, moving so relaxed, loose, etc.
- BW: 153 lb !! -> -10 lb since 3 weeks ago.

11:30 AM: run + bw
- great sessions!

run: very light: 46 min {103 F heat index lol} ::: (grass/dirt/rocks) /// legs very sore from some intense stretching yesterday, but it may have fixed my glute/hamstring. crossing fingers.
- 4.10 mi 11:15 /mi 46m 12s
- thick sweat shirt lol.
- (-5) lb water.

very consistent pacing hah.. stride length, freq, pace etc. cool.

bw: very strong!
- 3sec paused dead hang ng pullups: BW x 8
- full dips: BW x 10
- dead hang ng pullup holds: BW x failure
- dip holds at the top: BW x failure

probably won't do another run tonight. might do a light stretch tho.

also, going to order pizza for the NBA Finals Game 2. wooord!

looking forward, strangely, to running in the islamabad heat again. it builds character, could set me up for a fit autumn in europe.

that's the spirit :headbang: :highfive:

it def builds character, and fitness. awesome to see you embracing it.

i can run in the heat for hours & lose 10+ lb of water weight. my dogs can play in that same heat for 10-20 minutes with rest breaks, before they are ready to pass out. In the cold they can play forever. When we're out there pushing through the scorching heat, it unlocks some great fitness & mental strength that's been locked away by the comforts of life (for most of us).

I ran in a thick long sleeve today in 103 F (heat index), lost 5 lb water in ~45 minutes going 11:XX min/mi (crazy slow). haha.

Quote
also, meant to mention that although we didn't run for a couple days we've been walking quite a lot, exploring neighborhoods in which we might live.

damn.. awesome.

omg. What can I say about this fight. joshua was good because he has faced a lot of heavy hitters, but this guy he has hand speed and combination that joshua just couldn't get used and never in his career was he ever trained to deal with that. Even in his klitschko fight where he was out of his mind. Joshua deals well against heavy slow hitters but not so much people with combination and hand speed.

Joshua is tall and more susceptible to being dazed when being hit to the temple.

Joshua needs to learn how to deal with this kind of fighter. From this I can tell you deontay wilder would have destroyed joshua.

Andy ruiz s a great fighter and would pose a threat to any heavy slow hitters. joshua maybe strong and a little fast but cannot deal with fast hitters.

But ruiz would not survive against another fast hitter aka deontay wilder. but may prove tough for tyson fury.

First mexican heavyweight and to win it in this fashion is the cherry on the cake.

ya that's the thing with Joshua.. can he handle getting clipped with real power. It kinda seems: no. He had a great come back vs Klitschko but if that happens against someone like Deontay, he's going to sleep.

Deontay vs Ruiz is now the big matchup lmao.

The thing about Deontay is.. what he lacks in pure boxing skill (starting late in life), he makes up with his Thor's Hammer right hand, and his chin/heart. Deontay can take a shot, but he can deliver them worse than anyone in boxing.

I'd rather see Joshua vs Deontay than a rematch with Ruiz, but Joshua deserves his rematch. I'll be so curious to see how that turns out. Ruiz seems pretty legit. I can't imagine he'll get run over in a rematch. A skilled heavyweight w/ power that can take shots like that and keep coming like it was no problem, mexican-style at HW, that's scary.

Everyone will be gunning for Ruiz.. he looks ready tho. hah.

was so shocked last night. unreal.

damn that late light stretch went very good.

wasn't able to trigger any of the usual pain.

was able to trigger some fatigue/sensation in one movement.

first time since injury (months go) being able to stretch my hamstring without this area in my glute/hamstring being painfully tight.

crazy.

I posted in a stretching thread in another subforum. That Goggins stuff resonated with me when I saw the interview months back. It reminded me of some stuff i've done, but he ended up doing it daily for years. Seems to be most important to him, his long ~2-3 hour stretch sessions every night.

curious to see how i feel tomorrow. i imagine my hamstrings will be pretty sore lol. but if that injury/pain goes away, man o man.. incredible.

ok so today was weird.. i was in that mode where i was testing my glute/ham in positions that cause it pain. and it's just pissing me off.

so then i start stretching.. and im just like fuck it. i'm going to try and pull this tight muscle off the bone - knowing that sounded like a bad idea.

so i do some long holds.. some intense holds. really stressing that area (glutes/hamstrings/sacral spine), and other areas (back/lats/hips/quads).

long story short.. after stretching through some considerable pain, and thinking i'm making it worse, it felt like it disappeared, even on my run tonight.. and even AFTER my run. haven't felt it at all.

the big test will be tomorrow.. to see how it feels for the AM run.

if this fixes the area, it'll put me back on the stretch bandwagon. because so far it's shocking. this pain has been there for like 2 months now. i've stretched it off/on throughout that period, but never this much.. and probably not this intense.

some side effects of the stretching tho: hamstrings feel shredded.

who knows tho.. i'll probably end up jacking something else up. hope not.

06/01/2019:
- glute/hamstring/spine achy until hours after stretch fest..

11:00 AM: run + bw

run: light: 21 min ::: (grass/dirt/rocks)
- 2.06 mi 10:25 /mi 21m 28s

bw:
- 3-5 sec paused dead hang ng pullups: BW x 6
- full dips: BW x 8
- (stretching back) ng position, dead hang from bar: until failure
- (stretching hips/back) dip holds at the top: until failure

12:00 PM through 06:00 PM: various stretch holds
- off and on for hours
- some really long holds, hamstrings/glutes especially
- hit some good spots
- hamstrings are sore af already

08:15 PM: quiet running: 40 min ::: (concrete, ninja pace) /// way too much (intense) stretching today, but it might have helped
- https://www.strava.com/activities/2415932820
- 3.49 mi 11:27 /mi 40m 1s
- excellent run, so smooth & light

01:00 AM: light stretch

00:39 <@run> what's interesting about that fight is..
00:39 <@run> how joshua crushes ruiz in that first knock down
00:39 <@run> i mean he clipped him clean
00:39 <@run> very hard shot
00:39 <@run> but that mexican warrior blood
00:40 <@run> he gets back up and he's completely fine
00:40 <@run> joshua comes in for the kill and gets tagged
00:40 <@run> normal HW's going down on a joshua shot like that, arent getting up so fresh
