press "." for frame by frame advancing
press ":" for slow mo

this works better then pausing the video on youtube for sure.. but it can't get EVERY frame.. don't think it's possible with flash video (.flv).

Alright man. My site is a private training forum with under 50 members, technically its not mine but i admin it so... I did not show the url because it would be meaningless for most people. (Like you, who already owns a nice forum and lots of experience training-wise) We`re keeping journals, making articles and stuff for basketball-athletic development, since we`re still all in ``booming`` careers in our sports.

I`m just so much of training buff. I learn so much over the past year its scary. I`ll update you on my experiments!

Thanks

oh ok that's cool man..

ya please update, as you can tell I LOVE experiments..

thanks darq, looks like iv got some 30 yd sprints to run. and for vj, im assuming those are standing right?

yup, standing.

don't have any for running.. a testing day would be:

  • Body fat / Weight - before the session
  • warmup
  • 10 yard sprints, not measured
  • Reach measurement / SVJ
  • 10/30 yard dash split
  • Broad jump
  • 5-10-5
  • 300 yard shuttle runs x 2

peace man

Seriously, from experience, i know that the 2 foot jump is kinda tricky because if you try and make too much of a loofy step you loose the correct ``grip`` given to you by the reactive forces. The idea is to perform 3-5 fast (then relax) counter-movement jumps and then do running jumps x N. Your run-up has got to be as fast as possible. The first few weeks you will be clumsy, but after a while your take-off will become easy and efficient and you even will be able to add some effect to it by pushing off the balls of your feet at the last moment. (Took me a while to get it right, but once i was on track, within 2 weeks of practicing 4x week, i was jumping effortlessly everytime.

As for the 1 leg vertical it pretty much is the same, we saw vince carter and other ``strength jumpers`` plant their leg way in front, but really what you need to practice is a fast run-up and lock of the jumping leg, let it fly. Again, thrive to go as fast as possible to really sink the correct technique, believe me, it is the only way.

Pce

ya, im trying to upload these high jumper galleries into this forum, ive got one up so far... trying to get holm up... but if you step through, getting to the plant leg, frame by frame, can see it so good.

the post keeps messing up, once i figure it out i have a bunch of cool footage from some youtube videos, holm vs thomas.

BTW i`m new to the site but i gotta admit, you`re doing a heckuva job, just say ur 1-leg jump series, absolutely the most complete on the internet!

appreciate it man, glad you liked it.. it's going to grow too, i just had to get the base framework out.. now I can drop templates in part 4, and cover topics more in depth in part 5 and so on..

going to try and really progress the info/features on this site too..

That seems great!, i like the rotation. And you`re right i didn`t mean to AREG Basketball Skills although i`m working on something like that on my website (Distance shooting progression) but more of a different point of view and yours is great. The general idea for combining this type of ``speed`` training and sport specific would be to Alternate between the two until the ``speed`` works achieves DO.

I`m not giving up on that, it needs some refining. But i will update you on my results with it! (If you care of course!  :D )

Thks,

David, (Mtl,Canada)

glad you liked this also! tell me how it goes when you test it out.

btw, what's your site? I don't see any url for it above..

thanks darq. i like to think of myself as a blue collar guy with the vert training. extremely  shitty genetics but gets the job done.  i remember 8th grade middle school tryouts when we ran full court sprints ( not conditioning work, actual fast twitch work but i didnt know that at the time) and i was the last guy every sprint. after 1.5 years of training, at jv tryouts this year, i ran faster than anybody as a sophmore.

nice man, that's pretty impressive.. have you found anyone who takes performance training as serious as you?

21834
awesome man..

any time you set some nice PR's you should update this post.. that way you have a nice timeline.. but ya you definitely approach training the right way, asking questions, very consistent, lots of enthusiasm.. can't go wrong with that :)

Changed the live chat applet, should work even better now. Now you can access Live Chat from the menubar at the top (makes a new window) or in the live chat thread at the bottom:

Just dont navigate away from the chat by loading a new page, it will close it.

Does anybody have an idea how some1 could implement a waveloading basketball skills and speed work together? I know it`s a broad question, it`s meant that way.

Thanks

well, i wouldn't AREG the basketball skills themselves, as that would pretty hard to do. I would just do a normal rotation, AREG'n when you get back to the RFI's/speed work.

In regards to waveloading, I mean, you could do something like this:

ROTATION: monitoring dropoff's only on exercises marked AREG.. done for N rotations until dropoff.

AREG'd: single leg RFI's: ODD / EVEN (ODD = 10 seconds, EVEN = 5 seconds)
basketball-skill-drill-1
basketball-skill-drill-2
AREG-d: double leg LBJ's: ODD / EVEN (ODD = 20 contacts, EVEN = 10 contacts)
basketball-skill-drill-3
basketball-skill-drill-4
repeat

ODD / EVEN refer to the rotation number.. ie, rotation 1 = odd, rotation 2 = even, rotation 3 = odd.. so that would waveload the rfi/speed work.

what you think?
