Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: Pre-Workout supplements
« on: August 23, 2012, 10:51:46 pm »
99% of pre-w/out supplements are complete SHIT. Most of them release more adrenaline into yoursystem which overtime create a lot of stress. I know I'm going to get negged for this but NO ONE will give me a half-intelligent argument backing up any of the supps here. If you think this is science you are just a fucking idiot. braindead.

Ideally, one should be really amped up for a workout. THis can be achieved by eating foods that optimize hormone production, these include animal fats which also contain cholesterol the building blocks for nutrients. RED MEAT, not chicken, BISON, ELK, GAME, FISH, RAW DAIRY, ORGAN MEATS.

THe only supplement I'd recommend is COD LIVER OIL for extra vitamin A for metabolism/thyroid.

Schisandra berries are good too but won't give oyu much of the boost if the first thing I mentioned is there but it's a great long term tonic herb, there are other good long term tonic herbs such as ashwagandha but these won't give you a pre-workout boost. All the supps people mentioned just SUCK. They will NOT GIVE YOU STRENGTH GAINS, they will temporarily AMP YOU UP, which A HEALTHY PERSON SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO ALREADY and which ppl on the verge of overtraining will suffer the negative consequences of from over acivating the Sympatho-adrenal system (SAS) and fucking up even more their HPA axis. go to mindandmuscle.net/forum to learn more about overtraining and its symptoms.

If you're not amped up, go to bed on fucking time, don't eat sweets at night, eat egg yolks and butter...take cold showers, practice osm emeditation to reduce stress, and take cod liver oil for the vitamin A, maybe som eiodine for extra metbaolism boost but be careful you don't need too much.

Actually, I have a long palm and find it weird to grab the bar on deadlifts... because instead of having a short, strong palm I have a palm with long and thin fingers than can't hold on to the bar well and the bar ends up held on the weak side of the fingers so to speak (at the fingers' middle distance).

I'm 5'8'' without shoes
 have skinny/long bony fingers

7.5-8 inches depending on where you put the rules on the palm, I mean my hand is angled... longest measurement would be top of middle finger to ulnar side of palm (pinky side), where I'dt be almost 8.

But I'm replying to this comment because I don't have much prob with grip anymore, so I cannot relate to your experience on deadlifts. Even if I go a long time without DLing, my hand grip strength has not decreased, forearm size does decrease from not DLing in a while.

Com'on... Gatlin looks like a combination of Will Smith and Josh Smith

Hmm, I didn't know who josh smith was but gatlin definitely looks like josh smith.

Im not very sure but, from the vids it looks like gatlin and blake legs movement are faster than bolt; but Bolt being taller gets and advantage for all the steps he gives.

gatlin ran the 100 in 42.5 strides, 1.5 more than bolt, he was known for taking huge strides too
http://www.icharts.net/chartchannel/chart/2012/size-does-matter
- i hope that above link is true though, because I haven't been able to watch a high quality video and count the strides myself.

THis year as indoor champion in the 60, Gatlin did 6.46  it in 27.5, I think I've seen a video where he did 60 in 26, but I can't find it.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TrHCkEqfDI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TrHCkEqfDI</a>

However blake beat gatlin in 46 strides to his 42.5.

edit:
#Invalid YouTube Link#
yep 42.5ish strides for gatlin.

not saying this is a horrible video, but that this is pretty much a waste of time except to have some fun.

don't high jumpers have high knees? His knees dn't look that high to me, but he's taking a fast approach so his stride length is longer than a simple 5 step jump and thus his knees might seem high, and he looks like hes lowering his hips still quite a bit.

long jumping is the same way, people still have high knees so I'm confused what part of the jump you are referring to.

somethings wrong with that. i got .27 on my first attempt, then I got disqualified on my second attempt, and next round I averaged .295

I've measured my auditory reaction time in a lab with real equipment and it's b/w .14-.18 depends on how focused I am. for everyone else it's probs the same.

edit: meaning for eevryone else it's probably also much lower

^^^ upvoted because, seriously, heart and soul fit?

I just wasted 5 min watching the whole video now and then I went to his website and I finally understood what you were saying and what the HAS stands for. He could get away with that if he knew where power comes from, but since he does not, it makes him look like a tool to those who actually know a bit more about proper strength training. I have no further comments on how poor the exercise selection is in this video. But to novices, interesting looking exercises, or one footed things on stability balls that are eye catching sell their point really well, more than the basic squat and deadlift routine will. This guy probably runs a 5 second 40.

edit: he's got some skills though. congrats to himf or being a successful trianer

at 2:11 he looks like he could get his nose to the rim if he reached for it. Looks a bit like AUT. That looks 50

edit: actually aut looks more hip dominant than myree who looks more quad style which is robs from front squatting

nose above rim 2:01

33'' svj.
half my hand is above the rim, which is just shy of 10ft.
squatting has contributed to busting this plateau I've been at in my svj for months.
