Haha you look so small...

I have an observation though: try to extend your arms to your side and then rotate them and jump. Like, "open up" your jump. I think you could jump better with a few technique adjustments.

Let me try and find a video of what I'm talking about...

Look at Vince here:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTMiHvScPbQ" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTMiHvScPbQ</a>

See how he "opens up" stretching his arms to the side more than back, and then rotating and jumping? I have personally found out my highest jumps come when I do that as well, it just "centers" all the power into the core/abs and down into the ground if you do it right.

Yes, in general I am short... and standing next to my friend who is 6'5 I look like an infant.  But it makes dunking all the more special.

It looks like he brings his arms out to the sides then down and up in like half of a loop. I'll mess around with it.

10-13-10

Didn't end up pr'ing on vertec, think I took too many jumps earlier in the day... I was having so much fun.

Tied svj pr 28.5" rvj 33"

I like the fact that I'm not happy with those now.

Based on where I hit my wrist earlier I think I was getting 35" but I'm gonna remeasure the rim.

Did some more jumps on that outdoor rim today, flying again.. maybe even higher.

Tennis ball dunk from vert- pr. Hitting 2-3" down on wrist for rvj's.

Unfortunately I couldn't use the vertec then but I'm gonna do it tonight, lookin for MASSIVE pr's. Vid comin.

Thanks everybody!

I tried hangtiming those and shit was weird. I got 25 frames for first jump and 27 for second jump (outdoor dunks). I know there are a lot of variables there but 27 frames = .891 seconds = 38.25" LOL. Idk but I think I'm above 34 on those two so I'll call those pr's.

Thought I would post this here because this is a huge achievement for me, 2+ years in the making.

The rim outside is ~9'8. When I first started training for vert in late summer of 2008 I could not even touch the 9'8 rim, I was probably about 3-4 inches away. So now, over 2 years later, I have thrown down my first dunks on that rim so it is a huge deal to me. It seems surreal to me that I am less than 4 inches away from dunking on a 10' rim. Before I started training for vert I could only get about the top knot on the net.

Vert for indoor session is probably about 33", outdoor session was at least 34" I would say, but not positive.

Special thanks to adarq for all the help with training, wouldn't be getting up this high without him. Also thanks to everyone on here who has encouraged me.

GO GET IT

10-10-10 and 10-11-10

Tennis ball dunks on indoor 10' are on 10-10-10, outdoor dunks on 9'8 are on 10-11-10.

Dunks on 10' I wasn't getting up my highest, they were probably 33". The dunks on 9'8 I was getting up a lot better, if the rim is 9'8 it looks like I was getting my whole hand an inch above it which would be 34.5" but idk, hard to tell.

Enjoy

Was shooting around on the 9'8 rim today with my friend AND I FUCKING DUNKED. He tossed me up some alley oops right in front of the rim. I'm not even jumping at my max today. Shit should be crazy this weekend. Vids comin.

10-7-10

Dynamic warmup, sprint warmup

A few sprints

8-10 svj's - 28"

Depth jumps  4x5 - 18" first set, tried 24" for second set but they were really weak, 18" for sets 3 and 4

-depth jumps felt really weak, highest was 26". Felt "dead and heavy" on most landings like I was only jumping with half of my potential. I haven't done them in a while either which is part of the problem.

4x5 pogos

squat warmup: 135x3 185x3 225x1 255x1

MSEM singles: 295x1 305x1 315x1- 2xbw

core circuit x2

sick session, 315 x 1 deep @ 155 lb bw is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!!

O you know it was DEEP!!!!! I think I'll get a vid next time.

sheeeit.. i meant:

315 x 1 @ 155, SQUIDWARD APPROVED.

LOLOLOL HAHAHAHAHA

10-5-10

Dynamic warmup, sprint warmup

A couple of 10 yard sprints

vert- 28" rvj- 34" PR I actually got it three times, barely nicked it each time.

For reference, that plyo box to the left of the vertec is 30".
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9adoTxgS34c" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9adoTxgS34c</a>

Still feel like I've got a lot more than that in me, lookin for a big pr soon!

Planning on doing session 1 tomorrow.
