Basketball / Re: Something is wrong with this big douche bag.....
« on: August 24, 2017, 10:25:32 pm »
I dunno, maybe I should leave this forum, not many vertical jump guys are even here anymore ...... you don't train for vert, lbss doesn't anymore, raptor is gone, chrism isn't here too much, entropy is doing a lot of overall strength.....

it's down to myself, scooby, and maybe seif and fp that actually train specifically for vert/speed......

I still very much train for vertical, and I will race you to a pre-determined % increase on your initial vertical jump if you want (mine is 30-31'' atm). This is literally the last offer you will get here as you've somehow managed to piss off the most tolerant and good-natured moderator on the internet. Like I said before, no hard feelings on my part, and I think you need motivation to stop you getting distracted and melting down all over everyone's favourite forum.

I think you really struggle with the perception that you got stuck with a dud genetic mix - this is evident from your numerous posts about PEDs, athletes wasting talent etc. If you leave that behind and focus on becoming KF-like (which you are sort of doing), you'll make great gains. You need to trim a ton of fat, get your posture right, start doing athletic movements (avoiding jumping is not the best thing for you, you need co-ordination and RFD. Tempo sprints would be dynamite for you right now) and generally stop complaining/trolling all over the forum. Despite what you think, you can only train on anger for so long before you get burnt out. Better to feed off the positive energy of your gains as they come in. My 2c, possibly the last you'll get.

thanks i really like competition, that is why i like bball so much.

but it is not a fair contest, i have about 40 lb of fat/water weight, while you are already more lean.

Well however you want to cut it, e.g. I go from 30-->35'' SVJ vs you going from 24-->30'' SVJ. I have a lot of strength to gain and no newbie gains on jump, whereas you need to drop weight and maintain strength, plus newbie gains from not jumping at all. Of course I'd just be happy to see you training hard, getting healthy and generally not annoying everyone.

Filled in for the ball team last night. Caught a bounce pass about 5 mins in and the ball felt like it had an egg in it. I stopped and looked at the ball. No problems there. Put my hand back on it and felt the same thing again. Passed the ball off and it was only then that I noticed the first knuckle on my finger had dropped. Two hospital visits and an x-ray later and I have ruptured the extensor tendon on the right hand ring finger. Now I've got 8+ weeks in a splint to look forward to. I have that FML feeling going on but this presents some opportunities to work on things I wouldn't normally work on so there's always that.

Oh mate.......the old mallet finger! I did that twice to the same finger.....really took me out of basketball for awhile - not because it was a debilitating injury, but it's just so fiddly and annoying for everyday life/work. Bugger. Really sorry to hear that. But luckily if you do it right and are really strict on not letting it bend, it will heal up fine. I'd recommend a splint like this if you can get it:

http://www.3pointproducts.com/sidemenu/oval8

The other types of splints are a pain in the arse for showering etc. But you can get this one wet and wear it essentially 24/7 with a bit of sports tape over it.

I think for the RDLs, you need to drop weight and improve RoM, you'll get a lot more out of it. Halfway down shins is right ^. Keep the chest up, that should help lock your lower back. Great training lately mate.

He was another one of those that I just ignored while he disrespected me for the last few months, then today out of no where he comes out and says all this shit again, so I just stooped down to his level and got into disrespect war. ;D

The weird thing is, I barely commented on your threads except when you asked why you were being negged. Like I said somewhere else, I had no issues with you coming back and training hard, was good to see you lifting some nice weights, some decent contributions, but then you went ham on LBSS because you're a still a hateful shit-stain of a bloke and enough was enough. I knew you'd pull your 'slit your wrists' shit on me (you were itching to do it obviously) but I couldn't give a fuck, as mentioned below.

Conversely, if you want to be a real man and apologise, I'm on-board: this is a tolerant forum and I'm all for second (and third and fourth) chances. Ball's in your court.

after your slit-wrists comment directed at acole, which was definitely crossing the line, I really didn't want to reply.. but I will this time. Most people on here probably won't reply until you cool down for a while, they just won't feel the need to help you if you are causing problems. Once that number hits 100%, it'll be futile to even post on here. So dude just relax.

Eh, I'd be offended if every one of his posts didn't scream: "I HAVE INFERIORITY COMPLEX". He's melting down harder than Fukushima after his little stunt trolling LBSS backfired in his face. I guess he thought it was like when you get locked up and the first thing you do is go and punch the biggest guy in the yard in the back of the head to show that you're alpha dog. Bless ::)

Andrew Degrassi is the one to watch now that Bolt is done. He was the guy I was thinking of that broke Bolt's record with a good gust of wind!

Casual fan alert! Sorry, but if *Andre de Grasse* breaks either of Bolt's records he's not clean IMO. The person to break Bolt's 100m record in particular will need to be designed in a lab Ivan Drago-style.

i'd annoy the hell out of both of you with my pin squats & when I used to crash the bar to the floor during deadlifts.

I eventually put towels on my pins though for pin squats, so to make it less bouncy if I did hit them & so that it would make less noise.

:D

Haha, it's alright if it's for vert-specific lifts :ninja:. It's more when it's purposely smashing up plates/bars for ego's sake on stupid lifts. Like these fucking juice heads doing 725lb quarter-shrugs and bending the barbell:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5qKFty8Jcc

Well, I don't advise trying to finish a thesis and have a child at the same time haha. Not good for the general order of life. But all really positive so far, no issues and it's great fun having your own child. Plus, the thesis is in and I finally have time to organise my training thoughts.

damn!! :wowthatwasnutswtf: :headbang:

:wowthatwasnutswtf: Yep it's hectic.

The best things about my new gym are the 24hr access and the equipment, but they're only just enough to overcome the proliferation of gym-bro's. So many gym-bro's at these places...There's also a PT there who is just abysmal, spends more time on his phone than supervising his clients. One time I was there he was training a guy on squats and was loading the bar up way too much. The PT is on his phone while the clients walks 130kgs out, shaking so much he looks like he's about to blast off into orbit, does three half-squats and nearly falls over backwards on the last rep, just managed to save it. PT comes over: "How were those mate??" "Yeah good mate".

we should make a thread for these stories. my least favourite is how people do rack pulls (or whatever they are) in the racks by dropping hte bar onto the safety pins. Yea go on just permanently bend the bar for your ego. Not talking about huge weights either like always around 80-140kg. just why?

Mate, I bet between you, me, Coges and Mutumbo we could fill a book with the crap you see in commercial gyms here. The dropping of the bar in any deadlift variation really grumbles my Grahams as it's literally half the lift down the toilet.

The biggest thing I've really decided on is that I'm WEAK. My lifts are right down, so before I really launch into jump sessions I need to get strong again. My workouts are:

//Workout 1//

Warmup: jog 400m, dynamic stretch, sprint 400m at 17kph (approx 75sec)/general activation stuff (T0ddday's and a few other things)

//LB
Squat: 5x5, started at 60kgs, now at 80kgs
GHR: 3x10
Hip thrust: 3x10@60kgs

//UB
V.Push: DB shoulder press, 2x10@12.5kgs
V.Pull: Neutral grip pullups, 3xF (in the 10,8,6 range atm)
H.Pull: Seated cable row, 3x10@45kgs

//Core
Cable pallof press: 2x20@11kgs
Weighted situps: 2x12-15@5kgs

//Workout 2//

Warmup: same

//LB
RDL: 3x10@50kgs
SL squat: 2x6@6kgs
DB BSS: 2x10@25kgs total

//UB
H.Push: DB bench press, 2x10@12.5kgs
H.Pull: Seated cable row, 3x10@45kgs
V.Pull: Lat pull, 2x10@45kgs

//Core
Weighted window washers: 2x20@5kgs
Hanging leg raises: 2xF

Just alternating these every two days until I'm not as weak as an anaemic kitten + a bit of running. I'm emphasising upper body pulling mainly just to strengthen the back as it can get sore with lots of volume on squats/DL. The focus is getting fit and strong in the lower body again. Goals are:

- Squat: 5x5@110kgs --> just a paltry 125kg max, but will switch to 5/3/1 on the major lifts once I hit this.
- Hip thrust: 3x10@100kgs
- SL squat: 2x6@15kgs
- BSS: 2x10@40kgs total
- RDL: 3x10@100kgs
- UB/core: don't care

Once I get here I will start throwing in a jumps session. Luckily I managed a flexible working arrangement until the end of the year so I should be able to jump 1-2x in the mornings hopefully. All of this is baby-dependent of course. It's been relatively OK so far but it can change.

The best things about my new gym are the 24hr access and the equipment, but they're only just enough to overcome the proliferation of gym-bro's. ^^, it was the squats mate. Whenever I have a 'long' (~1 month) layoff from squats, even 5x5@60kgs will make my adductors sore. If you have an abductor/adductor machine, you could try doing a few sets of 20 on a low weight. Or just recover and squat lighter next time! Going straight into 5x5@125kgs is a lot.

This is a good article on the Justin Gatlin story:

http://www.sportsintegrityinitiative.com/demonising-justin-gatlin/

Takeaways: the first ban was explainable/excusable, should never have gotten a record based on the evidence. The second offense was bizarre and could plausibly have been sabotage, but impossible to prove unless the guy came forward. As the article says: he had several tests around the positive test all come back clean, why would he randomly use test in the middle of the season? Very odd pattern. Also, without the bogus first test he wouldn't have gotten four years.

Also, it's not completely unreasonable that he could have a second career peak based on the fact he took a four-year break from the sport. It's naive to think most top-level sprinters don't experiment around the edges heavily, but the response against Gatlin when compared to Blake, Powell, Gay etc. is over the top! Embarrassing to see him booed and it was pretty cool to see him literally silence the critics.

...I just wish he hadn't beaten Bolt :huh:

You've already been told this by LBSS, so not sure why you're confused: I'm pretty sure you got negged because you keep creating new topics unnecessarily and cluttering the board. Look at the last few topics you've created just in the nutrition section. One is helpful (caffeine/pre-workout etc), the others are just rambling thoughts. They could have just been journal posts - you'd probably get more feedback that way too.
