can't knock griezman for flopping, he got what he wanted. when people (mostly americans IME) whine about flopping in soccer i usually say something to the effect of, don't hate the player hate the game. classic instance of that. if the powers that be wanted to discourage it, they'd give yellow cards for it.

i was wondering about this so i looked it up. FA rulebook (bolds mine):

Quote
Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm.

The following must be considered:
-the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
-the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
-the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an offence
-touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) is an offence
-hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) is an offence

so it's ambiguous. the hand moved toward the ball (slapped it down) but it's not clear, to me anyway, that it was a "deliberate act." also apparently it doesn't matter where your hand is.

the ref was in an impossible position, where either way he chose the other team would have a legitimate argument that he was wrong. in other words, not even an ounce of improvement on not having VAR, plus we all had to sit around and wait for a few minutes while he saw the same 50/50 replay we did. strike against VAR imho.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- run 7.10 km in 39:49

- stretch

first 4 km with gf, it's hard to speed up much once i get into a groove at a particular pace.

what is this 60 hour/week job? are you making overtime for 20 hours? that seems unsustainable and also what business would do that?

2076
- run 6.94 km in 37:17

- stretch

so begins the journey of (mostly) letting go of workout to workout pace targets. i'll still probably throw in a few progression runs or fartleks 1-2 times per week but for the most part, it's ~40 minutes per run, working up to 60.

FUCK it's humid. 74%.

Wimbledon has reached semi finals and yesterday semi final between anderson and isrin or something like that. was an epic match. back and forth.

Longest match in history ever breaks the longest match record to 6hrs 35mins, both have 2 game points last round went to 26 - 24 to anderson. one point anderson fell down and got up and continued the rally with a left hand response and won that rally.
his serve has 80% ace rate.

just epic and nadal and djokovic had to wait lol.

That was a great match but it wasn't even close to the longest ever. No coincidence that it occurred between two monster servebots at Wimbledon.

one of whom also played in the actual longest-ever match!

a quetta-born boxer lost a world title bid. pakistan doesn't produce many elite athletes, other than cricket players, so this was news here today.

even odds you come in under 12%  :lololol:

amended: 70% you're under 15% but question the dexa's accuracy, 30% you're over 15%.

I got 14.2% lol. suprising. Means i have 65.8kg lean mass and 10.9kg fat mass. well .. there we go.

no questioning the dexa? crap, i should have stuck with my original prediction.  :P

what does this knowledge change for you?

-explosive through the roof. Focus pretty off. It's weird, days when Im an athletic freak my conditioning sucks and days when I can run forever my speed is usually average. It might be correlated with diet.

that is an interesting observation. might be worth logging diet for a little while to see if you can find a clear correlation?

big ups on the squat PR, btw.

i don't feel bad for serena at all! she made it to the final of the biggest tennis tournament less than a year after she nearly died giving birth. she is the queen.

- run 7.4 km in 40:00, walk 0.7km

- stretch

have decided that 30 mins at a stretch and going for two a days doesn't work. it's too hard with work to plan for that. gonna switch to duration based running with less focus on pace. 40 mins per day for the first week, then adding minutes slowly over the next few weeks. consistency > *.
