Good stuff! I guess the paused reps really strengthen the sticking point and thus can help to bust plateaus. Another option would be to begin and initiate the movement at the sticking point. For example if a trainee has problems with the parallel position in a squat he would set the pins low at that position, get under the bar and try to push up from that weak position. For squats this method might be better than the paused reps since breathing with a heavy load on the back is probably not the best thing to do.
But I can really imagine this method to be very effective for the bench press and press, especially in combination with what Lance said about using the rebound after the pause.

ya man I love those lifts, pin squat, pin bench, pin press.. Deadlift naturally works that way :) I've had lot of success with pin squats in terms of power for vert, they seemed to keep me feeling a bit healthier too, the nice momentary deload at the bottom feels good, and allows you to reposition yourself.

peace!

i felt ok, but the vert was nothing to write home about haha.

was jumping in my gym shoes, some nike frees, so it affected my plant abit. i think i gotta show u guys some film or something, i think the plant or runup needs some tweaking, i have a feeling its kinda a sticking point now...

the first set of the squats felt tough.

well make sure you jump in the same shoes all the time.. changing shoes definitely impacts how you plant!

Weight@session: ~194,5
PEAK BLOCK ,  Workout 'A'

Depth Jumps : skipped because of yesterday's dunks

SQUATS , MSEM , rest between reps ~45'' , rest between sets ~4':
3x1@231 , parallel
3x1@264 , 2-3'' above parallel, hip hurts if i go deeper with heavy load.
264 should be somewhere around 85% 1RM

BSS , MSEM , rest between reps ~30'' , rest between sets ~4':
2x1@242 , PR , previous was 231
2x1@264 :o  :o  :o
SHOCKED!!! 264??? Did them in good form too , free knee touching floor!

CALVE RAISES:
3x12@374
Rest between sets = 1'

congrats on another pr lol.. your bss has blown up.

what's up with the hip? so many people getting hip pain from squatting deep, blah!

Thanks man!
I don't know whats wrong with it , i mentioned it long time ago.
It seems pretty similar to  Spike's thing , also yours from last year
3'' above felt nice though , gonna keep it like that and see how it goes...

ya :/ adam from TVS too.. and a few other people.. adam's form was damn near perfect too.

squatting above parallel definitely helped it.. it would flare up rarely but usually other stuff would contribute to that.. if i went below parallel even by an inch it would flare up instantly, so above parallel became my savior, that and unilaterals.

peace man

A couple nights ago I had a dream where I was talking with Mark Sisson* on the beach. He was wearing board shorts. He kept saying the dumbest shit, just repeating his spiel over and over, and I was just cracking up, asking him if he knew how dumb he sounded and how little sense he was making. He had this kind of perplexed look on his face the whole time but he never stopped talking, even as I was doubled over laughing right in front of him. It got to the point where I couldn't even breathe in and then I woke up.

*This guy: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/

he works out 7 days a week for 30 minutes, and sometimes 10 minutes.

the last 4 nights or so my dreams have been incredibly vivid... i havn't been writing them down but i should start again.. im having multiple dreams, and every single one is just crazy real.

one of the dreams was, i was playing a futbol match for what felt 90 minutes or so, and we're playing with our feet, then one guy from the other team picks it up runs with it and throws it into the goal.. so then we all start kicking it to each other + picking it up + throwing or kicking it into the goal.. shit got mad intense people getting trucked all over, we ended up winning 5-4, no yellow or red cards existed, so it was very brutal.
