something is happening to my body.... i hope for no injuries every f'n day but god damn my body/aggression is feeling out of this world..

^^^^^^^^ workout #2 from today:
- walking lunges: 400 each leg, 800 total, and i feel fine
- neutral grip pullups: 16
- bar-dips: 10
- natural ghr: 30 minutes worth, about 12 sets of 10-15 "mini's" using new setting (like in that ghr vid i posted recently).. this new setting hits my hamstrings even hard but i also get more calf.. so it's kind of harder then kind of easier.. my body can't figure it out yet.. regardless, im sticking with this setting on the ghr, i like it.. my ham tendon felt it a little bit more though so i have to be careful.. i was dead at the 10th-15th mini, was alot more intense.

^^^ bionic workout alert ^^^

drank 6 glasses of milk post workout.. so far.. will probably drink another.. that's basically a gallon of whole milk for today.. WTF.

i have a feeling that i will actually be 100% tomorrow.. if that happens ill go do some dunks just to see what happens.. if i dont feel good tomorrow i'll just do it friday.. but i really think im going to feel real explosive tomorrow, which would be astonishing.

Still got up nice..
Hurry up and get this 40!

thanks man.. it's fucking coming i guarentee it!@$!@$!@

btw.. i basically drank 1 gallon of whole milk today.. psychotic.

16 cups * 146 kcal = 2336 kcal

16 x 8g protein = 128 g protein

16 x 72 kcal fat = 1152 kcal fat

16 x 44 kcal carb = 704 kcal carb

GOMAD'D IT UP + bunch of bananans + huge thing of rice n beans = win.

for vag, dunkfather can get up on 10's mang:

:D

For sure , i never doubted his 40+ RVJ , neither JusFly's 50+
Still , that rim (dunkfather's ) is crazy bent , but maybe its higher than 10' and its 10' at the bent point , nevermind.
When he is getting both wrists above it still looks higher than the jump on urban jam to achieve the same thing.
Doesn't really matter , im talking about ~2'' difference so:
- i could be wrong
- doesn't change much , if the urban jam rim was 9'10'' it still means JusFly got his chin on 10' level , so if it was 56'' or 54'' doesnt change anything.
I insist because for me 10' and 9'10'' is huge difference , from dunking hard to not dunking at all , 9'10'' and 10' are 2 different universes!
But for those vertical jump beasts it makes no difference.

Bleh , wtf , lets say both are 10'  ;D  ;D  ;D

lol ya.. when you jump as high as darlington jumped it doesn't even matter at that point, which is ridiculous you know? it's like if bolt ran a 9.3 and it was debated to be a 9.4... it just wouldn't even matter.. sure for history it would be, but god damn, 53-56 RVJ is psychotic.

im still amazed :D

Saw real PT this morning. He said 3-6 weeks before I can play again, depending on how recovery progresses. Prohibited from doing any jumps or hops, even linear DL RFIs. This sucks. But the guy really, really seems to know his shit and I'm sick of getting hurt so I'm gonna stick with it for a while. The last time I sprained it badly (two years back) the PT's I saw sucked so I stopped going. That probably wasn't such a great idea in the long run.

Good news is, anything that doesn't hurt or compromise stability too much (no BB step ups) is basically alright. So trap bar DL, iso holds of all sorts, etc. can be done.

ok cool! once you get this issue sorted then some fun training will begin :)

can you do anything in a pool in the meantime? could do some sprints in there/high knee cardio/swimming?

7/12/2010

bw = 157
soreness = both hamstrings "pulled"
aches: right ham tendon (lateral)
injuries: hamstring bellies

workout #1:
- dribble up dunk attempts, almost landed a few.. shoulda had some
- svj = 25" lol, end of session
- few step RVJ = 32" or so
- L-SLRVJ = 126" or so max, end of session..
- R-SLRVJ = 122-123", end of session
- depth drops: ~35" @ 3x10
- split squat drops: 2x10 @ 18", 1x10 @ 20+"

workout #2:
- ~6 mile walk mixed in with interval tempo sprints (400m or so tempos, about 12)
- neutral grip pullups: 15,10,mini-20
- dips: 8,10

epic depth drops/SS drops:

some vids from today:
- ~35" depth drops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_mt-Icw6AQ
- split squat drops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD3spU8_MY4
- some dribble up dunk attempts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11ArWkSOUEo
- real bad SVJ (~25") lool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM4GFWi2D3o

Your split squat drops are terrific.

thanks man! I appreciate all of your advice on this too, really good points you brought up.

Quote
On your squat drops, it looks to me like you are on your toes too much, and you are landing pretty close to the box.  I think this is throwing your body forward.  I saw on the WGF that Korfist told you to do upper ab work, but I think if you try to step off and out a bit more and land with more dorsiflexion your position (IE you chin and upper body falling forward ) will take care of itself.  I used to do the same thing and this helped me quite a bit.  Or course ab work is always beneficial.  Another thing that has helped me is tightening my abs, trying to pull my ribs down, before I step off the box.  Give those things a shot and let me know how they work for you.

This is a great point and I bet landing further from the box would definitely help the issue, I will try it next time for sure.

I've been doing my depth drops off of two tables at a different park, basically one foot on each table in a high "split" position, then I drop almost directly downwards, so this was the first time I actually had to step off in front and the box was higher than the tables, so ya, my form probably really got altered by being so close.. As the reps went on my form was changing subconsciously, even how I stepped off the box.

I'm probably going to go back to the lower box/park for a few sessions to mess with my form a bit.. Those landings take a major toll on my feet because of how far I am on my forefoot, that's for sure.. both plantar muscles (and even fasciae gahhhh!) are bugging out a bit still, especially right one.

peace!

First of all there is no way bron is gonna be MJ
it's just not possible, MJ was the only MJ..look how serious a competitor the guy was
only a select few guys in the whole world have the level of competitiveness he did
plus MJ shot better and got better as he was in the league, lebron seems to stay about the same in my eyes
MJ had great D, Mj was shorter, Mj was a beast on the vertical, AND MJ WON GAMES
lebron is super tall, Lebron doesn't pull through in games as MJ did, BRON DOES NOT HAVE MJ"S HEART!!!!!!!

bron is unfortunately a very un-smart person..but he went with what his heart told him to so don't bitch about it because maybe he doesn't like Cleveland? and maybe your not lebron so maybe you don't know the real reason he left

ya i hate when people compare others to MJ.. i watched most of MJ's games growing up, there will never be another MJ. Lebron is more of an oscar robertson/magic johnson type of player, which is definitely not a bad thing. I'd say he is the most talented player in the NBA and will be until he retires, but he wants player's around him so that he can create for them. I agree that it seems he doesn't want all of it on his shoulders, which you know, isn't a bad thing.. he's just a different kind of player and has the balls to move on to something he feels will be very big.. His only goal entering this miami "allstar team" is to twin tons of championships.. I'm sure he's thinking about 5 or so as the end goal, I'm going to enjoy seeing him try and pull it off.

my opnion is lebron felt "owned" in cleveland.. grew up there, played there, always was expected to be there etc.. that would bug me no doubt..just because you were born somewhere doesn't mean you have to stay there your whole life and show loyalcy to the "fans", who for the most part are beer drinking backstabbers who would throw you in a ditch in a second.. same goes for the owners of the team etc, shit, just look what that dumb SOB owner wrote about lebron when he left, that was pathetic.

Adarqui don't be mad cuz they did'nt let you in..they said your vertical was 2 high did'nt they?

they said my high socks were too gangster & that i wear my shorts too low (has to be worn around belly button), those bastards.

sprint speed you say? do you mean outa the blocks or top speed and acceleration? because the only thing i can find that it would help is outa the blocks...i thought top speed was more reactive and acceleration was a mix of both

correct me if i am wrong, just taking guess here

both top speed sprinting and acceleration out of the blocks correlate to broad jump.. regardless of the nature of broad jumping, it still requires powerful hamstrings/glutes, which is what is needed for any type of sprinting, regardless of accel/top speed.

think of wide receivers/defensive backs in the NFL.. look at their top speed, 40 yard dash, and broad jump.. so regardless of a movement being reactive or strength dominant, the muscle groups being used in each correlate highly with each other.

peace man

I'm still jumping better with a longer last step... I guess it just developed over time. So does Adarqui's boy Eddie if I remember right.

yup definitely.. forgot to even mention that but it was on my mind.. eddie jumped way better using a longer last step, he was strong enough to do it, it seems.. as his hips did sink a bit.. so he basically got rebound + alot of concentric strength in his SLRVJ, instead of mostly rebound..

im going to sleep, damn.. im very tired haha.

working on some blog tonight.. dno when it'll be done, started out short and got long, like usual.. heh

7/13/2010

BW = 159
soreness = hamstrings/glutes/bottom of feet <-- damn u depth drops!
aches: back of left heel/achilles insertion
injuries: re heel

crappy workout tonight.. i mean i tried to explode but glutes being inhibited as well as calfs/hamstrings really left me moving 'mushy'.

workout:
- 3 mile walk with interval 10 yard sprints mixed in.. did tons of them working on acceleration from 0.. maybe like 25-30 of them, it was alot.
- jumps at bball court: lots of mosquitos SHITTTT.. 29" off 1 step for LR, 10'2 for RL.. felt crappy even tho i pushed it.. cns/muscular sys = dead.
- some sprints home in the 1.5 mile walk
- lots of stretching

all in all, pretty dead........ ate tons of pizza.. hopefully i feel great tomorrow.. the damn 2-a-days are what's really freaking my body out, even thoguh i've only done two of them.. my work capacity is good for 'every night training', but the addition of two-a-days is adding some serious stress to my body/cns.. just have to try and adapt at this point.

Article & Video Discussion / Re: LD ISOS

(You know, like these out of shape clients dad's you run into who claim to have run 4.3x 40's back in high school or college.. well, they've been telling themselves they've run 4.3x for 20+ years, so now they actually believe it)

hahaha every fucking day.  The most common one is "I used to box" yet in their first class they dont which foot to put forward. lol lol lol.  There is so many people like that, they say the same thing over and over until it becomes truth to them.  hahaha soooo true.  This made me lmao because I often wonder if other people who train athletes had to experience this shit as much.

ya man it happened to me all the time.. I knew dad's who used to squat 800+ lb in their hayday, fat guys who used to run 4.2's, weaklings who claim 10' broad jumps, all in front of their kids/other athletes.

Quote
I used to have a huge problem with all the athletes coming in that would claim to run 4.5s and vert 40 and would always call them out immediately.  Now I have them fill out a stat sheet and take it with me to the track when we test.  Its alot easier to tell someone they are completely full of shit and get it to sink in when they have just made a fool out of themselves a few seconds earlier.  I have had probably less than 10 high school football athletes give me their realistic 40 times when they came in, and a few more than 10 college athletes that are honest, most of whom are smart enough by that age to realize "this guys fixing to test me" .    But the majority are waaaay off, some because of their coaches falsifying their own times to them, and some of them because," I jump and run faster than anybody in my school so .... 40 inch vert, 4.3 40yd".   Funny how I have yet to have a guy come in that has underestimated his stats.  Maybe one day, that would be a nice change of pace for me.

that's a good point right there.. for people i've trained in person, I can only think of 3 or so who gave me their legit stats right off the bat, and these 3 were some of the hardest workers too.. that's why i tell everyone on these forums not to lie to themselves or about their stats, it does something to your brain that inhibits you from making real gains.

I think athletes would make even more gains if you really ruined there stats on pre testing and made them feel inferior haha.. imagine a legit 4.2x 40 kid being told he runs a 4.6x by multiple coaches / facilities.. he'd probably run a 4.0x 40 in a few weeks off shear anger..

When athletes think they are better than they are, then it tricks the brain into actually making less gains, is my theory.. No need to tap into training at a very high emotional/mental level when you "think you are good/better than you are".. something to it.

peace!
