Basketball / Re: A WHOLE BUNCH OF DUNKS AND SHIT.

Put this in the dunks thread coz most of the highlights are dunks-

The only way to correlate an RVJ to SVJ conversion would be to look at the reactivity of a person. Even the most unreactive person in the world will at least have an even RVJ compared to their SVJ. So somebody with bad reactivity will probably only have an RVJ of SVJ + 0-4 inches. Somebody with decent reactivity would have SVJ + 5-8 inches. Someone with good reactivity SVJ=9-12 inches. Somebody with great reactivity SVJ +13-16 inches. Anything 17+ inches of their SVJ is elite in terms of reactivity and probably in jumping.

There is no ratio. Stephen Holm has like a 22 inch vert yet he can jump over hurdles that are over 6 feet high.

Same as Allen Iverson had a RVJ that was around 40 inches but I coudn't see AI having a SVJ of anything much more than mid 20s.
Watch TFB videos and you'll notice that there are barely any dunks that are done without a run up, let alone from a standstill even though these guys all have 40-50 inch verts. Any 'correlation' will have a lot less impact as well if people are single leg jumpers.

I'm not sure why you'd that routine unless you're an oly lifter. You've already got bad knees and squats are just gonna aggravate your knees more. I could see that routine being good for short term gains but long term squatting less frequently would give you better progression.

That's a pretty strong standing DB OHP. I'd be struggling to do that much seated.

At least you can add some muscle now :strong:
I wouldn't worry too much about it bro. Just clean bulk for a few months up to low 80s or something and than try and cut down again. This time you'll have more strength and muscle anyway so when you cut down you'll look heaps better at 75kg.

Oh true.
Yeah sometimes clubs are like that as far as the politics goes.

Yeah that's the thing with junior sports. No matter how good somebody is until they actually do it at a senior level their just 'potential' or talent. Sometimes you see the talent play out (Lebron James, Usain Bolt), sometimes you don't (Ronnie Fields, Mark-Lewis Francis).
Personally I know 1 guy that's 20 and runs 100m in 10.91 and 200m in low 22s. That's pretty fast but 6 years ago when he was 14 he was running 100m in 11.53 and 200m in 23.17. In his case he was just an early developer and so despite training for the past 6 years he hasn't managed to even improve a single second on either of his 100 or 200 times. But back when he was 14 everybody was on his nuts because his times were impressive for his age.

At the moment, I am playing with a group of friends in a C Grade Mens comp, and we are 4th on the ladder I think. Though from what I've noticed, I'm a step above everyone in that comp, so as a result I will be playing A Grade next season where I will be up against players who play in the SEABL, which is my goal. The reason why I don't play in a club, is because the city that I live in doesn't take basketball all that seriously, so there are not many clubs etc. It's nothing like the US which is a shame.

At the moment, I think I'm averaging 18-22 PPG, around 10 RPG, and 3-5 APG. But bear in mind I don't really take that many shots, the rest of the team all want a go shooting the ball as well considering it's a C Grade comp. When it comes towards finals then that will change however. I regularly get double teamed in games as well. That sets up a lot of assists cause there is someone free.

I'm actually from Adelaide. I don't know much about SEABL but from what I've read and heard from sites like hoops it's just a higher standard of basketball than ABL (Adelaide's equivalent of SEABL). Basically the ABL teams all have junior teams that play like Sturt, South, Woodville, Forrestville, Norwood, North, Centrals etc. Than in those clubs you have age groups and 5 divisions in each age. I'd imagine it'd be the same for SEABL. If you're serious about playing SEABL you should start playing club basketball for a club that plays in SEABL (or if it's different to Adelaide's club system start playing for a club that's affiliated with a SEABL team). If you're only playing C grade social than you can spend some time playing A grade social and it'll still be beneficial. But once you start playing for a real club that's when you'll start to really improve. Playing Div 3/4 club>Grade A Social in terms of standard- well at least in Adelaide.

Edit- In Mens most people quit playing club though if they realize their never going to play in the NBL or even ABL and play social. So Div 2/3 club>Grade A social. But yeh like I said it could be different in Victoria or other states that's just how it is in Adelaide. I used to play basketball for club from like 8-16 but I quit coz I realized I was never going to make it anywhere. Most of my team mates all play ABL now and a few are over in USA playing college ball and 1 of my team mates is a 10th man on a NBL team.

Fast kid obviously has a lot of potential with athletics considering he's running times that are competitive at U16s when he's only 12.
