Restricting salt does not lower blood pressure. -> really long article didn't read it but check it out http://www.stat.berkeley.edu/~census/573.pdf

You need sodium. Instead think about your potassium intake. Veggies, and fruits come into play here.

But yes it's probably nothing related to diet or exercise. Just anxiety and stress. that's my guess. try sleeping before 11 and waking at sunrise for 1 month straight see if that works.

it's the same technology as the hyperdunk + shoe. I almost got that, except I do not use an iphone and I think you need one to use the app that measures your vertical. It seems pretty accurate though. My regular hyperdunks are just badass so I'm satisfied. And I have a good estimate of my running vert. However if I was playing ball all the time and practicing dunks I may have gotten the +.

edit: also why are you posting this in the strength, power, reactivity, & speed discussion thread? There are threads elsewhere where you can post random things like this.

Article & Video Discussion / Re: form check: squats
« on: September 28, 2012, 09:46:03 am »
second what Joe said. W/out front or back angle or EMG data can't say anything. and what shoes are those?

Provide a timeline of your progress in squat vs. SVJ. From what I remember you are insanely strong in squat but you said your SVJ wasn't improving much. In that case the last thing you need to do is squat with your hips. I switched to narrow(er) stance squats, slightly less than shoulder width, and it's been strengtening my quads way more and vj improving. but I can't say much until I get to 3 plates and am jumping consistently above 40 which I rpedict would happen with my new squat form.

How far are your feet apart? And where do you feel it? (I've worked with individuals who have perfect looking squat form, due to their bone structure, who don't feel it where I do really so the narrow stance may not work for increased quad activation for everyone). why are you even asking for a form check. are you doing low bar or high bar? and where the f do you train, in dc?

you should make a video of how much vert you have retained, off of two and one. that'd be really cool.

seriously, my hops are probably non-existent right now.. so bad that i'd be afraid to even jump with full intensity, and if i did, it would be horrible.

i think my single leg is going to come back pretty fast though.. it still feels like lost something, in my brain, regarding double leg.. it feels weird just thinking about double.

Damn man ur back!!!  I had a feeling you would be

ya, i did a good job of lying to myself for a while though.. telling myself i'd never train again.. :F

i think you can still dunk off of 1 and 2

On the metro tonight:

Two black men, one married, two children, the other, 31 years young, begin talking about the younger generation. The 31year old laments: "damn dees mothafuckas like, e'erbody be lesbians now, e'erbody be fags."

jaj what.

 :wowthatwasnutswtf:

serious. not paraphrased. he also talked about skinny jeans in relation to this problem, and then the economy and something about how mothafuckas in this country who can't count to 10 in english should not be working here. said "mothafuckas" a lot.

walked up to a really nice basketball hoop today.. first time in like a year.

glass backboard, breakaway, chain net, really nice hoop.. just looked at it for a while, was 10', thought about how last year i would have made a trip to this hoop to destroy it.. interesting.

then i jogged a mile today with my dog and almost had a heart attack.

uh oh... he's comin back.

I've seen you "like" dunk videos on youtube bro... you're thinkin about it again. I know it.

interesting RL plant in your second jump in the video. From the angle of the camera, it looks like you planted right, but with the right foot in front of the left foot, which i cannot imagine doing. My plant leg is always behind the toe-off foot. nice vid man.

hope the knee gets better I tried going back to see what happened to it but I couldn't see it. I started taking cod liver oil and my knees noticeably feel better everyday. I usd to have to foam roll rigorously before because my knees would hurt from standing up all day and walking around during my shift, but I'm not experiencing that anymore at all. Highly recommended regardless. I'm a weston a price foundation bot lol.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: Pre-Workout supplements
« on: August 24, 2012, 03:15:49 pm »
haha. Yes citrulline is not a stimulant, but who takes that shit alone? Most pre-w/out formulas contain adrenergic agonists. I agree with entropy's quote where the guy quoted said it's not necessarily good to try to psyche yourself up before each lift. This willr esult in overtraining.

I've been there for the past 8months-ish. Now I'm taking cod liver oil and I'm insanely psyched up probably due to the Vitamin A. this won't work for everyone.

Situation: good points, I didn't mean to say it's all about testosterone, but of course having a healthy hormonal profile is huge. And diet can significantly affect T levels.

ADrenal fatigue is a controversial condition I'd agree, it's a problem originating int he hypothalamus, HPA axis.

I would also agree for endurance training citrulline, beta alanine, and creatine could help but I wasn't thinking about that, just strength/power training.

Pretty much everyone agrees with me that the stimulant supps like JACK3d are not good supplements to rely on and in general are not good for you.

You should go to the gym because you are warmed up. Not go to the gym, and then get warmed up. That's a healthy metabolism.
