so i take it you are still in gpp? whats spp gonna look like?

well, i'm phasing more towards spp right now, less long distance running, more intense reactive work, heavier squatting more often.. so i'm definitely transitioning out of gpp, and phasing into spp, currently.. the last few months had me doing tons of running.

peace man

blend a bunch of bananas and inject that shit into it, bananas rule.

I have seen you like bananas the night before pecking vert as well, I worry about sugar/carb intake so I have yet to decide if bananas are for me lol.

here's why i like them... say i weigh 160 before sleep, i'll eat say 6 bananas, now i weight like 162 or 163 or something.. well, the next day i'll wakeup around 159 probably, then take about 6-7 ridiculous dumps and end up being like 156.. SORRY FOR THE GROSSNESS, but bananas empty you out and make you feel light as hell.. plus all the potassium/glycogen replenishment :d

I honestly think there's something interesting with taking a bunch of craps before vert/speed, because man, when i do, i always jump great/sprint my fastest.. hah

bananas the night before, caffeine day of, = win..

if i feel good tomorrow i might even drink two monster energy's.. man i'd be so wired, one gives me the shakes.. with two i'd be like that crack addict on chapelle show.

hahah

Thats a damn cool vertec man. Now I feel like making one. Looks super nice.

thanks man, Adam from TVS guided me on making it, and helped me put it together.. i owe him a big thanks still, what a great tool i have now!@$!

easily portable vertec ftw, only cost me $60 to make, so it's definitely affordable.. making the top was pretty time consuming, i'll take a good close up pic of it if you think about making one so you could see exactly how our vertecs are, though you might come up with a better method :)

peace!

That's a sweet fucken Vertec man. Jumps look higher than you said actually. Nice pop. Do you ever get much ache in your calves/ankles? and if so, do you still do lower body training on that day?

thanks man!

nah calfs are always fine.. it's usually my heel that bugs me, especially the lower left side.. has something to do with my LR plant.. it was bugging alot tonight actually, i think it's cause i didn't warm up too good, there was some rain clouds overhead so my warmup was really short.. thankfully it didn't rain but I really should never skip out on a warmup like that :/

if my calfs/heel is bugging i'll still squat/bodyweight etc.. if my ankle is bugging, in 'ligamentous' areas, then i won't squat.. i've hurt my 'deltoid ligament' pretty bad way back, and squatting made it worse.. so i'll avoid lower if that happens.

peace mang!

True, I think my I need to lean up to get rid of the aching I get from ADA's.  I know what you mean about the heel. Mine gets bruised when I'm carrying good speed into my DLRVJ's. Actually gets quite painful huh. I got a similar thing on the balls of my feet when I was doing a lot of SLRVJ's in very low soled shoes too actually. That which doesn't kill us... (only injures us in the future to be honest hahahah)

LOL truth..

ya man, I get heel bruising on DLRVJ and achilles "focus" on SLRVJ.. focus meaning, I can really feel it working the achilles hard, so not a great feeling.

the heel bruising really sucks too, does get pretty painful at times.. i was surprised how painful it was yesterday BEFORE jumping, considering i took the day off prior to that.. feels a little better today i think, tomorrow i jump though so hope it's alot better by then.. i just have to warmup like i usually do, skimping on warmups is not good, especially at my old age lulz.

I dreamed once that I could jump ~80 inches off two feet and was doing dunks like in NBA Jam etc, and thinking "hey it's not that hard". I was with my belly at the rim at pretty much every dunk attempt, and it felt easy.

fun dream, i've had plenty of dreams where i can't dunk.. how shitty is that.

week 45
strength phase week 1: tues

warmup, prehab

s1: bench: 3 x 5 (85, 87.5, 85kg)
s1: 1 sec rows: 3 x 5 (70)

s2: incline DB bench: 4 x 5 (30)
s2 weight pullups: 4 x 5 (7.5, 10, 15, 17.5)

s3: tri pushdown: 3 x 8 (34)
s3: EZ bicep curls: 3 x 8 (22.5, 27.5, 25)
s3: shoulder matrix: 3 x 8 (5)

great work man on the bench!

i dunno whether i need the break anot, im feeling pretty strong now, except for the left toes LOL. but i find that i need to ramp up my weights like how i did in the past for my triples.

like, when i tried to go frm 70 to 90 for squats, while i could still do them, i didnt feel as good as i should, and only really warmed up in the later sets. i suppose i need to really ramp like by 10kg increments, even if its just 2 or 3 reps.

i dunno abt the toes though, they def feel it still.

i think we're good then, volume is going to drop alot in comparison to GPP, we get to really focus on getting in some heavy lifts and getting it done.. occasional volume days when needed.

glad that you're feeling real strong, it's showing on the lifts.. lets blast through all your old weights prior to the gpp.

peace!

lol, thanks for the words of wisdom, vag. Feel free to offer coaching whenever you please; I do it all the time from my amateur seat over here   ;)

With respect to the length, I was more worried that it was too short, rather than too long. But I don't think that's going to be such a big deal, now that I think about it. I can give it a go, see where it takes me, and then reevaluate.

short blocks are great though from a stagnation standpoint, especially for that reason you listed.. you can really get a good idea of what this block is 'doing to your body/physiology' without dedicating a crazy long time to finding that out.

What is ironic about that video is what he is saying about very powerful natural athletes is in truth, the exact opposite.  Many of them have never been properly strength trained and end up tearing an acl or having multiple injuries that could easily have been prevented via better joint stability provided by adequate strength training means.  And standing on a wobble board while rubbing on the supercat is not going to accomplish this.

yup, they usually develop huge reciprocal inhibition in agonist/antagonist muscle groups, involved in whatever it is they are training for.. that can easily cause all kinds of MAJOR injuries, even though it results in greater performance.. proper resistance training is a great way to help prevent joint stabilization to that extent, through strengthening of antagonist muscle groups.. sure you can achieve that many ways, but wobble boarding while fapping to a cheetah poster won't do it.

shit is so confusing man i agree.. possibly more confusing than Alan Barch Jr aka SquatDr.

I saw a few Alan Barch Jr.'s videos few weeks ago.  What's the story with him?  I searched for his name as well as squatdr but the results is short.  Is he legit?  What's so confusing about him?

Well, he made lots of claims and refused to provide videos, so he'd get pissy/angry when people requested vids, so finally I made this thread just to shed light on my perspective of what he might be doing:

http://www.theverticalsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=4247&highlight=&sid=a28a7bc3c7e211d2def6447d9fb295c1

He claimed people came out to officially test him on those AMAZING 55" RVJ pictures, and they even took video.. but where is it? why won't those people come out and defend him? Plus all of the other crap in that post, he just can't be real... Like I said, I would publicly apologize on youtube if he showed legit proof of his ability, i'd genuinely feel very bad if I was wrong, even though it would be very much his fault for just being so weird about posting proof.

Bottom line, when you claim world records (squat, vert, running vert, and a damn good 60m sprint) & you try to influence people like he did, you need legitimate video or you get called out.

peace man

Sometimes I could swear that even though you plant LR, it looks like the left leg is in front like in a RL plant!

ive seen me do that many times, it's odd
