last 5 days or so:

some bodyweight exercises each morning. pretty strong.

tons of stretching. some intense lacrosse ball mfr on my right glute/hip/sacrum.

150 right now before sleep. will probably be 148-149 tmw. definitely getting leaner.

having fun trying to get leaner w/o running. would like to get to my leanest ever. have to swap goals for a bit until i'm 100% healthy again. that's the key to keeping your sanity & dealing with injuries.

miss running but going to try and not run for a while to see if i can heal this stupid shit.

basketball players (high school through college) lift now more than ever before.

70's, 80's, and 90's era basketball was some of the toughest around, hardly any of those guys lifted. all they did was hoop.

the "stunt your growth" & "it'll make you slow/tight" stuff was popular for their generations, it isn't now. weight rooms & facilities were hard to come by, now they are everywhere. every athletics program (especially in college) has s&c coaches who make their athletes lift.

lifts aren't magic.

we all know the truth why these guys are getting injured so much. they dont do the proper lifts.

no.

I just watched the whole match after getting through a whole work day dodging spoilers. Ouch. I couldn't envisage a more torturous match for die-hard Federer fans: losing with two Championship points after nearly five hours of up-and-down play, and a shank to end it. But, it's impressive he pushed Djokovic this hard. Djokovic is still looking like he's mostly in his prime form.

Between this match and the AO Nadal beatdown, I think Djokovic has a strong case for BOAT. I don't think he'll ever be considered GOAT over Federer (and if Fed had won this match, this discussion would be sealed forever). But, the opponent quality in all of his 16 major wins is insane: Federer (4), Nadal (4), Murray (5), and then three excellent players in Del Potro, Tsonga, and Kevin Anderson once each. At the very least, he's the most mentally tough and clutch player I've seen. He has the best ELO ranking too, for what that's worth.

nice @ those ELO rankings. crazy to see "the big 3" still there at the top. The only other dude who was able to crack through, was Murray, who unfortunately retired due to injury.

also nice to see Thiem ranked #4 there, he's legit. Always exciting when he plays, dude just blasts it non-stop.

ya Federer had that match. that one is going to sting. He's still GOAT right now, but Djoko has many years left to take that from him.

i don't know anything about cricket. but one of my co-workers is from India and he's huge into it. he can also play pretty well. he cricket-pitched a tennis ball at me once and it was very impressive.. 3 perfectly thrown pitches from way out.

and ya he watched the finals. said it was epic.

seemed so excited. hah.

England vs new zealand match will go down in history.

Quick recap
New Zealand bat first. Do ok and start picking up the pace and score 241. England do Well but new zealand make it difficult. 39 runs required with 12 balls. 15 points required with 7 balls. 2 points requires and 1 ball. It's a tie.super over. England go first and get 15 in one over.new Zealand given gift wide ball . Score six and 2 points needed and 1 ball left. Tie again. But England win as they scored more field runs or something like that. First time champions. :headbang:

Note: Pakistan vs India got me into cricket recently
Also we need cricket thread.

i can create a cricket subforum if you want ;d

i'd put it in the "sports discussion" child boards tho.

the talking point being pushed around lately seems to be "ZION is over weight, can't move, out of shape"

i mean... he looked like he was moving great in that game before he bruised his knee. :ninja:

I never know what level of bullshit meter to apply to the sports journalists in the US. Here in Aus there's about a 50/50 ratio so it's pretty easy. The market is that small that there's only a few journos who will go off the reservoir. From what I see though on ESPN and Undisputed, etc it could be 80/20 over there. Most of what I watch these days I write off completely.

ESPN is awful.. I like Jalen/Paul Pierce etc - ie real pros.. but Smith/Kellerman? awful.

basically, if a sports analyst "yells" and goes on some kind of loud preacher-like rant, they are full of shit. That's Smith, Kellerman, and a bunch of folks on ESPN. It's just theater.

As for ZION ... i dno. I don't see how him being 285, 300, or 265 has any affect on him taking a knee-to-knee collision. Being 285+ might take it's toll on him in an 82+ game season, but we don't have an idea yet. He was doing great in college before his shoe imploded. Would be great if he ends up being LEBRON-DURABLE in the NBA - tough to do tho.

pc!

omg today sux lmfao

?

long story short:

aunt invited me to a family-friend's bday party. decided to be friendly and go.

they are at the pool of a hotel. so i grab a chair to sit down, but the chair somehow snags on something and clips me in the back of the knee. so that caused my hamstring tendon to get achy etc. been janky all night - slight limp. it's probably not going to be anything to worry about, but it is annoying. def inflamed from the impact.
