He didn't grow up in the greatest environment, so he never really had the chance to show how far he could get.

disagree.. he had a chance to fly right out of the hood into stardom, but he himself blew it (unfortunately).

can't blame environment in this case imo, some people just aren't driven, and that has nothing to do with environment.. he was "blessed" (lmao) with insane genetic ability, but he just didn't have the desire or drive to take it to the next level.. which means, he simply did not love track & field enough to make it his life. no matter how crappy your environment, if you love something with everything you have, then you won't let "stupid crap" come into your life to take it away from you: this means not hanging out with the wrong people, staying away from weed, trying to at least make avg grades, etc....

he didn't love it enough, which is understandable, it came easy for him..

His dad was a pretty good sprinter as well being a two-time state champion quarter-miler.

Just goes to show how important genetics are. 1 of the guys I ran against earlier in the year went to World Junior Champs for 400m when he was younger and has a 400m PB of 47.04 done when he was 19.
Here's his PB times http://www.all-athletics.com/node/26473
His dad was a footballer but he also ran track as well and had a 100m PB of 10.73

Anyway getting back to Combest here's a couple more pictures from his high school days.

Track & Field / Re: the T0ddday test

I will try this after my track workout.

start time:
10 pushups, 150m run
stop time

walk 25m

start time
...

Just stick to your 5 50m sprints all out and 5 100m sprints ALL out like T0ddday told you.

That fat guy should be playing rugby.
I can't remember ever being fouled out of a game but it must've sucked especially when the fouls are soft. Doesn't help playing without any subs either.

There's this Aussie website called hoops.com.au
Sometimes people on there are looking out for players for social teams. It's mainly a South Australian based site but there are some people from NSW and Victoria as well looking for players.

"Well, what I can do for you is to help you understand if you're going to stand any chance whatsoever of achieving your dream there is no back up. There is no comfort zone. There is no safety net. There is nothing else. Your focus has to be on this and this alone!"

That mindset is what sets champions apart in entertainment and sport. Somebody that has backup plans is never going to have the same hunger as somebody who's life depends on achieving their goal.

Nice work with all the PRs. Hopefully you can maintain the majority of your strength now on the cut.

well there's an open meet this sunday in northern virgina that i could race 100m in. but it's been years since the one time i did an all-out 100m so that might be pushing it a little. wish i'd known about it earlier. that seems to be the last outdoor all-comers meet in the area this year but there are winter ones in northern virginia and maryland that i could do (if i'm still living in this country then).

Yeah if you haven't prepared for it than it's probably not worth doing it since won't get the best out of yourself but you should definitely do a 60m in the winter. It's a good experience to compete and you'll enjoy it.

Are you planning on racing any 60s or 100s in the future?

Yeah shipping is expensive. I only use Eastbay once or twice a year and just save up for all the items I want to get so I can order them all through 1 transaction.

When I first heard it I didn't really like it but it's starting to grow on me.

You live in UK so you also got to factor in shipping costs. If I was getting a budget track shoe I'd get the Nike Zoom Rival for 35 bucks, which is the cheap version of the Nike Superfly.

They've got it in pretty much all sizes as well.
Like others have said though it's definitely a worthwhile investment to purchase some spikes. Usually when I buy spikes I also order some actual spikes http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:7116/sku:300610/omni-lite-7mm-xmas-tree-spikes/blue/blue/?cm=searchtrackandfieldequipment to go along with it as well. It's probably not necessary but I like to have spare pins just for re-assurance.

Looking at Eastbay got me wishing I had $$$ atm. I already got spikes but I wouldn't mind a new pair haha. I'd also love to buy some starting blocks so I could practice with blocks coz that's a huge weakness of mine. I wouldn't mind a new pair of casual shoes and some new clothes as well but now I'm just getting greedy  :P
