Took the ACT, got a 27.

Took the SAT, got a 1760 (which happened to be the exact ACT 27 equivalent... damn accurate!)

Re-took the ACT, got a 32 (SAT 2150 equivalent).

You know how I kicked ass on that second ACT? I was much more mentally focused and a bit alert. I DID NOT study for it. And guess what...

It wasn't aderall or another drug either. It just so happened that the long ass reading passages in the second ACT that I took were really interesting as hell, and science has proven that when you're interested in a subject you're learning, you retain the information so much better! So what happened was, that on the english, reading, and science sections, I was so into the damn stuff that I was reading, I almost never had to go back into the text to look for the answer. I just remembered it. What that did was make my answers much more accurate (I didn't go back and reason between two different passages to decide which one was correct or whatever) as well as save a shit load of time so I had plenty of time to answer the tougher questions.

Math, of course, I got a 33 on both exams because that really doesn't get any more or less interesting. It was still just the same math, different problems. Not like they had algebra on the first ACT and then all of a sudden calculus on the second ACT.

So what the hell is my advice anyway?... take the ACT a bunch of times! That may cost money for you, but chances are that one of them is going to be way easier than the others for a bunch of reasons. I mean how likely is it that every single ACT is equally difficult every single time? Without studying, your scores will fluctuate, and you can just send in the higher scores only to your colleges (or a low to mid to high level to show you progressed a lot; they like that). On top of that, you KNOW the scores will fluctuate (in your favor most likely) because you don't get penalized for guessing wrong on the ACT. Maybe on one test you had bad guesses and good ones on the next.

Then, if you factor in the extra studying and test-taking experience (VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE), you'll really be putting the whole ACT/SAT stuff in your favor. On top of that, don't treat it like a test. Try to think of it as just reading cool and interesting stories and stuff, and if the stuff happens to interest you, well then, that's a high score right there (like it happened to me. jumped up 5pts on the act (390 on the SAT) with zero studying).

I had a 95 average in HS in my second quarter... 4th quarter went down to a 78 (never been lower than an 86 in my entire life)... now i have a 2.8 in college hahahha damn college hit me hard. So stressful lol. But I'm picking things back up now and I'm doing great, aiming for a 3.6 this semester.

Purity and the process of purifying matters.

Isn't casein hydrolosate even FASTER absorbing than whey? Thoughts on that, guys?

absorption rate doesnt matter at all...

That I know. In fact, I take weightgainer with a mix of a bunch of crap that's slowly absorbing

Other stuff i don't understand: The "mix" of whey and casein to create a "time release formula." You don't get the best of both worlds. Whey will not absorb as fast as whey if you're taking whey+casein at the same time. The casein will slow it down... lol

And yes, whey isolate gets absorbed faster, and hydrolyzed whey isolate, even faster, but I thought "new research" showed that casein hydrolosate was faster than both. Whatever, who cares because:

How did the notion that you need to absorb protein as fast as possible (and therefore choose whey) after a workout get so popular? Where are the sources for this? I've heard it a bunch of times but never saw studies. Another thing, I remember reading that whey doesn't hit peak absorption rates until about 45-min to 60-min after ingesting it... so wouldn't it make more sense to take it at the start of the workout, so you're hitting that peak rate as you finish off? I know that more and more people are taking pre- and post-workout whey now, but sometimes people *only* take post-workout for whatever reason when they could easily take it *only* pre-workout.

Another thing I read (lol i need to bring in some sources cuz I'm just rambling) is that a high amino acid profile in your blood isn't what causes muscle synthesis, but the actual spike in the level of amino acids itself... as an analogy, it's about the acceleration, not the top speed. So what some people were recommending was alternating whey with casein to get greater (as in amount and in frequency) amino acid spikes throughout the day. Sounds like that would make sense to me, but not sure why it's the spike that's beneficial instead of the amino acids themselves. I guess maybe it's the body foreseeing a need to build muscle or something in anticipation of higher amino acid levels. Makes sense to me!

Gotta find these sources though.

Hmm...

say i enter 385lbs as my max.

itll take me 6 weeks to hit 405lbs with this.. 20lb gain in 6 weeks? Just over 3lbs a week?

Another thing: I don't like the progression on the final day for the maxing out. 90%x1, 95%x1, 100%x1, 102%x1, 105%x1..
Well, at least for me those final 4 sets wouldn't work too well because I would be a bit burn out:
345x1
365x1
393x1
405x1

I think there's too much space between the 365x1 and 393x1, and also not enough space between the 393 and 405. I would just skip the 102% altogether and lower the 345x1 to 335x1.

From this I'm inferring that 385lbs would be too low of a max to really get a lot out of this peaking phase. Maybe 440lbs and up would be better to try this out?

Okay I guess I'll add in some machine leg curls with my toes touching each other (can only be done with toes pointing in). And yes, my hamstrings are DEFINITELY lagging behind, but even before they were lagging I've had this (like 12 years old even.

Another thing: how bout some stretches that will also help? Static stretching external rotators?

Upper East Side.

I couldn't even dunk off one leg yesterday, it was pathetic. I'll get one next week.

Mine have been pointing out my entire life. My right one points out more than my left. It's really annoying. How do I fix it?

Well, more importantly, what causes it? How can I find out if it starts at my ankle or my hip?

Darqui what program do you use to make your videos? Windows Movie Maker doesn't have an option for over 720x480 resolution but I want the whole 1920x1080...

1871
Got the other 2 sets and jump attempts on vid now:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvlr1A2jtvc

Jumps start at 1:17

Edit: Damn it pisses me off that it's not 1080p... gonna do this over.

Re-Edit: Guess windows movie maker can't save movies in 1920x1080 resolution.. highest I'm getting is 720x480, that's not even the first level of HD wtf!!!

Does anyone know any free move makers that allow for 1080p HD???

1872
That looks really high... if you would've pulled your heels to the butt, that would've looked incredible. :ninja:

How much have you practiced your two footed jump since you were pretty much an exclusive one-leg jumper?

Not too much. I don't even remember making the change completely anymore. Probably happened when I jumped from 190lbs to 200+ (with sneakers on). But I only practice my jumps about once a week so that's why I know I can get higher. Haven't been playing much pick up basketball either, I'm actually not that quick and coordinated on defense as I used to be.

1873
Lol there were two attempts:

On that one I'm also on the right side of the backboard, but I didn't get as high so I just put the other one up.

EDIT: Hahha the way my shirt is folding and rolling makes me look like I'm a lard ass!!

1874
My feet are naturally externally rotated and have been like that my whole life. How the hell do I fix it? I can drop a vid of the pic tomorrow, along with another attempt that I did and got maybe 1" lower.

But really, how do I fix the externally rotated feet. I think the problem lies in my hips though. And my right foot points out more than my left.

Update me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiG-ElPF5Sk

355x3 --> 375x1 estimate. Next week I'll go for 365x3.

Two 45's, one 35, one 25, one 5.

My friend didn't have enough 45's so that's why I didn't make it simple with three 45's and two 10's lol.
