Wow I just HOPE my son is really into basketball, I'll turn him into a damn star. I mean with the knowledge that I know now, imaging applying it to an 8 year old in stead of an 18 year old, and the potential rises just so much more. And how knows how much more knowledge we'll all have by the time we have kids? Better protein, better training philosophies, etc.

I mean I'll have him play with toy basketballs when he's a baby and stuff and watch basketball games with him, hoping that he'll have an interest for it, but I don't think I should force it down his throat if he doesn't like it. Like if he falls in love with soccer, then I'll help him like crazy with whatever I know about it.

Elite Gourmet Vanilla from Dymatize actually tastes good. And I don't even mean good for a protein (people always lower their standards for protein shakes), but I mean actually good even for a milkshake. Well for milkshakes, people always raise their standards, so this protein actually tastes like a mediocre milkshake!

Oh boy just 1-2 years? You've missed out on SOOOOO MUCHHHHHHHH. As well as the rise of the millions of sub-generes... i mean just trance has:

euphoric trance
uplifting trance
progressive trance
dutch trance
german trance (just being dutch/german doesnt make it that kind of trance, it's actually a distinct style)
tech trance
ibiza trance
hard trance
psy trance
goa trance
acid trance
minimal trance
classic trance

Yeah there's a lot. The golden age of trance music was the late 90's and early 00's. I got into trance just after that peak in like 2002. There's just far too many different artists and even those artists change their styles over time and stuff:

Compare Tiesto
then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LTn59yLgeI
now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gujB7A5ycew

Cosmic Gate
then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG4rcRtrsV8
now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPvzaNQ3EfM (Nic Chagall is one half of Cosmic Gate)

Armin van Buuren
then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoHKmoye9kw
now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMVry2jgJ0U

There's such a huge variety on trance music (and in general, EDM) that it's not even funny. That's why a lot of us hardcore EDM fans get really pissed off when ignorant people call EVERYTHING techno hahah. I mean compare:

TECHNO - www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8hIWihMZ2c and www.youtube.com/watch?v=-olmIdsaWVI

TRANCE -  and www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0kAtwA-iiA and www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tym6GxN7Hkg#t=1m (such an awesome bassline btw, gotta hear that live!)

HOUSE - www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqSE36mmi-8 and www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oYTgKz4uE0

Techno focuses more on percussive elements and how they evolve, combine, and split up over the course of the track. Probably best for dancing, really gets you moving, has some awesome beats sometimes.

Trance is a lot more atmospheric, a little slower than techno, and focuses a lot more on atmosphere and melody. Greater uses of synthesizers in trance than house or techno, and probably the most diverse of the three in terms of how many styles it has.

House is slowest of the three, and is more groovy and soulful... not sure how to explain it. Maybe the hardest of the three to define. Usually better than trance for dancing. Definitely not as atmospheric/melodic as trance, not as percussive as techno but groovier.

To my ear those three pairs of tracks up there sound 100% completely different and unique from one another, yet too many mainstream listeners (omg justin bieber) call ALL of that techno somehow.... ?????

Personally, I like trance the best. I mean just a single song can get me unbelievably angry and hyped up to go squat or play basketball. The same song can at night it can make me feel really sad and emotional and tear up, or if I'm out at a club it'll make me feel amazing and move with the beat. It really all depends on your interpretation of the song. I'm sure you can do that with house or techno, but I can most easily relate to trance.

I just took whey protein powder. I didn't practice my 2 foot jump that much, Raptor. Like once a week. Of course some improvements came from there, but the huge majority had to be from my strength increases (my one foot jump increased as well man). I had 6:30am basketball practices 5 days a week. When I had games after school, I didn't practice in the morning. So it was consistent tough sprinting 5days a week.

I squatted 2 days a week. Mondays and thursdays. I was doing 4x7 and later switched to 3x5.

^^^ not bad not bad.. I'm a little more underground than you, and a bit more oldschool. Personally I don't like deadmau5 and tiesto anymore. The tiesto I LOVEDDD was:

Tiesto - Magik Journey
Tiesto - In My Memory (Gabriel & Dresden Elephant Memory Vocal Mix)
Tiesto - Suburban Train

that stuff.... that's the stuff that got him so damn famous in the first place!

But yea, my favorite artists are:

Ferry Corsten
BT
Hybrid
The Thrillseekers
Above & Beyond
MIKE aka Push aka Globe
Gareth Emery
Armin van Buuren (his older stuff)
Tiesto (his older stuff)
Roger Shah aka Sunlounger

There's plenty more but those are probably the main artists I like. I love myself some trance music (only certain styles though, none of that cheesy andy blueman and daniel kandi shit), lately some progressive trance/house (bc trance has been getting cheesy) and then some IDM, which is what BT makes. Well, BT makes a lot of different kinds of music, he's an amazing music producer. I'll post all the different things he can do later.

Just because it's GPP doesn't mean they are equally effective. I mean there is no thick black line right between specific training and GPP lol, i view it more as a "gradient" of sorts. But still, I just like deep squatting because it feels better for me. Maybe in the future when I stall on deep squats ill hit an intense partial squat peaking cycle.

I always avoided increasing my leg strength during basketball season because I foolishly thought that it would be detrimental.
Last season was the first time I tried it, and I had some of the best gains of my life. I went from not even being able to dunk off two feet to being able to dunk a 2 handed tomahawk (ball cocked behind neck and touched it) about 3 months later.

Try it out for a few weeks and see how it goes.

Yeah man, the 1on1 was just to point out that i have the talent, but I will need to put it into use will full court games and leagues. If I don't make D1 within two years I'll be really pissed at myself.

dam at least wear sweatpants and a hoodie or something! Or maybe hoodies/sweaters interfere with your shot? I can't stand that... I can never play with sleeves. Not even a t-shirt. I always play in a tank top or a jersey. If i happen to have a t-shirt i roll up the sleeves.

i can never play in teh cold like that, my damn fingers would be too numb... and i hate playing outdoors
i remember before i had a gym membership, i'd love playing outside on those double rims i had. shooting around in the pouring rain, two people walked by and applauded me. felt awesome.

so those dunk vids were filmed in like 3C weather or something?

I think I may be ready for D1 in a year or two because of my insane jumpshot and slowly improving athletic ability... i routinely destroy this 6'6 shooting guard who's a damn junior in HS (averaging about 32ppg on varsity, and i think his championship game is today) who plays for York Prep. I mean we have LITERALLLLLY played 1-on-1 about FIFTY (50) times and I have beat him. He's getting a shit loaod of D1 looks because he's young, tall, and has a HELL of a 3 point shot. He's just skinny and lanky right. But out of all the times we've played, I've beat him...

every.single.time.

EXCEPT For the very last time we played, in which i lost by two points. Like I mean my record against his is probably 62-1, NO EXAGGERATION. And I mean that I have literally WRECKED this kid like 16-4 and 11-1 and 21-6 everyyyy singllleee timeeeeeeeeeeeee we play because NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES he just cannot stop my jumpshot...

I'm a freshman in college right now at fordham university, but i swear i think i can make the team. I'm doing a 5 year program anyway so I have another 4 years left...

omg man.... i just regained a lot of my motivation for basketball..... i need to re-name my log to "Dreyth's Journey to Division I Basketball."

i swear i think i can make that team because they're mid-major and kinda suck anyway, and i'm 6'1 but my jumpshot has insane potential (i remember being like 15 and hitting dozens of 3's in a row in game with LITERALLY fingers touching my face)... i just need to be like that every single day, and not just on my "on fire" days.

I never woulda thought I'd be so motivated to play basketball again like this. I can't forget that I'm on a mission and basketball is my life.......
