Right, a gpp type squat to prepare the body for the more intensive demands of the more sport specific spp squat/reactive/jump type movements later on.
A full squat (or as full as one can safely go with good technique) is extremely beneficial for not only jumping but all the other movements that will go along with sport. Using both gpp and spp methods will always trump using only one or the other.
OH, AND BOX JUMPS ARE A TERRIBLE WAY TO TEST JUMPING ABILITY.
In squatting for jumping improvement, IN MY OPINION, the amortization phase, the point in the movement where the bar goes from downward motion to upward, is the single most important part of the lift. I have seen and strongly believe that the athletes who can turn the lift around the fastest will always have the best carryover to jumping. It is more about how quickly you can get to top speed at that particular point in the lift, than the overall speed attained during the movement.
Interesting point and I think adarq has said this before in reference to REA squatting and jump squatting. I'm pretty sure I suck at this part of the movement. Any cues/tips on improving it?
? What doesn't have to work as harder? The lateralis?
Adarqui AND LANCE answering on the same site? EPIC!!!!111 w00t All love for y'all ! I owe dunking to Raptor, but the latest improvements came after listening to you two. It's really great that you(Lance) have your own performance section, props!

its possible if it stays stand up, he was a kickboxing champ at one point, and a few people have proven age in the 40s isnt a big factor anymore ( cotour and lesnar fight)
will he win, probably not, but hopefully he doesn't bitch out
itd be smarter for him to just go back into a kickboxing tournament over in europe or something and stay away from MMA, since it includes a lot more than just stand up
do these run the same size/fit the same as regular nike shoes?
also are the Nike Zoom Waffle XC VII the same as the nike zoom waffle racers VI? (or maybe more improved?)

To me, in that picture you look like 3-4 inches away... it's too far away from the camera though and the angle distorts it, so I don't know. Definitely not 1 inch away...
i'm directly under the backboard, behind the net.. see the white line on the ground, i'm directly over that also.. check the proportions. heh
also, explain to me how you get 3-4"? i mean, we clearly see like 1" away on pic, but how do you get 3-4"? you just making up a number or what? lool
ripp was kidding with his 5-6" comment.
Well that certainly isn't 1 inch. Maybe one inch on the monitor screen
whatever that means.. congrats though at being blind as fuck.. gj.
If you think that what looks 1 inch from 30 feet away is really 1 inch in reality, then... well...
I'd say it's somewhere between 1 and 2 inches, but still very close. Just look at the proportions and you'll see it can't really be more than that.
Man the day you hit your head is gonna hurt...you'll be jumping up max effort not expecting it, then BANG...gonna be epic though, looking forward to seeing some footage of that.

If there's anything I ain't, then I ain't an adarqui hater... I couldn't ever be. But again, 1 inch from that camera distance and angle is much more there. If there would've been a one inch distance, then from this angle it would seem his head hit the backboard. It's interesting since Andrew is pretty tough on his jumping in terms of inch-inflation, so it's somewhat surprising, which means he really genuinely believes it's 1 inch. One inch it's two squares on a math paper.
Well there's nothing to appreciate, really, I was just speaking my mind like I always do. If you were to suck in my mind, then I would've said that... But since you don't, then it's great. There are so few good people to talk about training you can just count them in single digits. You're one of them, although maybe your biggest flaw is you take things personally too quick, just as an observation
It's great not to be politically correct these days
