Is roiding considered level 8? What about bionics?

nah roiding is level 6.

replacing limbs with bionics would definitely be level 8.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hey!
« on: November 26, 2010, 04:48:01 am »
hey man! finally made it here hah..

hello guys, hello Andrew,

I'm Damien, 22 years old, from Germany and i'm a Trickster.
I am 6'2 and currently i weigh 187lb. Before i started weightlifting and eating big i was about 140lb at 6`2...
I've been tricking for 6 years now and the first years i had a really hard time to land most tricks because i was just too weak. I started lifting about 2-3 years ago. First 1-2 years were almost wasted with bodybuilding routines and bad nutritional habits. When i first started lifting i squatted and benched with 70lb and deadlifted 100lb. My standing vertical was always very low.
Now my standing vertical is about 27inches, my 1RM deadlift is 405lb, bench 210lb and my squat was 300lb before i started Smolov Jr, which i completed last week. On my last Smolov Jr workout i squatted 95% of my previous 1RM for 10 sets of 3 reps. I'll test my new max in 2 days...

awesome let us know how it goes, great progress.. that tricking vid you linked is real nice, you are hitting some nice tricks & it looks really sick with how tall you are and how much height you get.

Since i started lifting i became very interested in everything about exercise science, functional anatomy and everything else related with performance. Next year i want to study Sports & Performance at the university of Cologne, Germany (in case someone knows it - its supposed to be one of europes leading sport-universities).

I've been dealing with lower leg pain on my left leg for about 6 months now. I think it first started as shin splints, but now its more of an ankle/wrong posture or alignment problem...

My biggest weakness is my lack of reactivity, my RFD and for bodyparts its my hamstring-strength and thoracic spine mobility.

Damn, that's a long text with the intention to just say hi!

here is a video of myself (the tallest one with no/short hair) and my team tricking:

my personal youtubechannel is http://www.youtube.com/user/DamienStrength?feature=mhum. There are some older lifting videos. I totally changed my squat technique to an closer stance, more oly style.

greetings from Germany,
Damien

welcome man, keep us updated on your training/progress..

hope that lower leg injury heals up eventually, have you gotten it checked out?

Ok so we all know level-7 is very effective at bringing out the highest levels of performance, but what about level-8? Level-8 is body modifications in order to improve relative strength the utmost greatest levels. So far, we have a few techniques at streamlining the body to it's absolute lightest state, here are a few:

- Complete laser hair removal of the entire body
- Organ removal (one eye, one kidney, one lung, one testicle, GI tract shortening)
- Removal of certain muscles (for example, instrinsics of the hand and various forearm muscles)
- Liposuction to reduce fat levels
- Organ replacement (replacing organs with lighter weight artificial substitutes, ie, artificial heart)
- Portable limbs, in the case of jumping, this might be removing the left arm for a left leg - right reach jumper. The arm can be re-attached after training/competition.
- Laxitives for severe dehydration
- Enemas for removal of all fecal matter
- Bone replacement (replacing calcium based bones with lighter weight composites)
- Skinning

Just a few ideas.

Train hard,

adarq.

what made you want to switch to reverse lunges? I'd say it was a wise switch.

The flips get addicting. They make you feel like a boss.  :P Only downside... my legs hurt almost as much as after my squat days right now, my calves are more sore, and I'm pretty sure my abs haven't felt this awesome/sore in a really long time.

awesome.. the landings are pretty intense on flips and variations, because they are torsional.. rotational components etc.. so ya, i can see them really hitting you hard from a force absorption standpoint.

nice :)

Definitely the best post I have read in years. I've ignored it at first because it was too long, but I'm now glad that I've read it, very very interesting.

If you think about it, a person getting old and keeping the same amount of muscle will get less and less athletic. Why is that happening if that person has the same muscles and strength? Possibly strength goes down as well despite that person having the same amount of muscles and bodyfat. In that case, I think the only logical explanation, besides joint pain when trying to be athletic, jump run etc, is the neurotransmitter speed/hormonal stuff is weaker in the body. That has to be it. It's a change inside the body in itself that makes that person less athletic. There are obviously so many factors though.

if you kept muscle mass the same (which generally doesn't happen, there's usually a decline in overall CSA AND decrease in IIx fibers), it's mostly due to rate abilities (RFD) diminishing (decrease in the discharge rates from motoneurons to the mu's), decreased testosterone/androgens, & decreasing neural drive (increased synchronization of MU's, decrease inhibition/protective mechanisms such as Golgi etc). So, the actual mechanisms responsible for recruiting motor units fast decreases, as well as the ability to voluntary recruit that mass. As people age, they see increased activity of the antagonist (coactivation), which can decrease overall force production, this ties back in with the synchronization of mu's etc.

I'd imagine alot of those changes could be mediated by PED's etc, as long as one stays healthy.. It's not coincidence that with changes to the endocrine system (andropause), power/strength also is effected negatively.
