Article & Video Discussion / Re: Does the NFL measure the reach correctly?
« on: December 23, 2010, 01:25:37 pm »
well for the history of the nfl combine it's been double arm reach, they might have changed it recently (only the last 1-2 years).

I will try to find the # over the years..there should be an avg drop of 2 inches in the last 2years vs earlier years

this vid was great, It showed a clip of measure a One are reach which many people have told me the NFL does not use and that all the vertical jump #'s from the combine should be lowered 2inches or so

what do you guys think?

HOLD ON....the white guy won!?!?!?!

:uhhhfacepalm: either the dude in the blue jersey or the guy in the white jersey should have won. The white guy just had his little buddy help him do some cool tricks, but the air was with the jersey dudes for real

He was sent a letter detailing that nike would sponsore him..The letter asked him to not do it because of the sweat shops and child labor that nike(and many other companies) use to make their product....he went and signed anyway

he got divorced

LOL @ "he got divorced", seriously laughing, good stuff.

those are the only two faults i can think of right now

it's better than, "he went to carolina, go to hell"

Remember.... I was raised on the stuff (at least for the first few years of my life), so were my parents. My immune system is much stronger than yours. And it's actually not any more contaminated than what you would drink. The idea that we need to be protected from the food we've been eating for thousands of years is absurd. (The day I die of a food-born illness is the day you can feel free to tell me I'm wrong.) Pasteurization also kills a lot of the nutritional value raw milk has.

UMMMMMM....OK  my personal opinion is that anybody who can eat McDonalds and not get sick has a great immune system...I would have to say my immune system is pretty strong though, I survived football lockerroom, without getting the sniffles..Let me set the stage, dirty, tired, sweaty, overtrained, overworked, smelly, unsanitary, and constantly people will throw something gross(i.e. someone throws a cup and once somebody threw a sock that had been used as toilet paper, Not at me thank G_D!!!!!)

anyway, I was just wondering if that would be any worse than all of the hormones and shizz

I am definitely down for this.  I've been training myself for the last 4 months because I quit smoking bud and doing opiates cold turkey and cigs.  I have a beer once in awhile, that's it.

In 7th and 8th grade I played aau bball, freshman year was the last time I played organized ball (quit in middle of season, unmotivated).  Barely played ball after that, and played sparingly after high school.  Also developed some bad habits like smoking, bad diets etc.  Since freshman year till now, I've gained about 50-60 lbs and only grew about 1 in.

My stats right now-

AGE: just turned 26 few months ago

HEIGHT: 5 ft 8in 1.5cm

WEIGHT: 179lbs

SLEEP SCHEDULE: Right now i have a very erratic sleeping schedule because I used to do a lot of substances and played poker for a living (late nights and 1-2 day poker sessions, casinos, etc).  I also have to wake up 2 times a week at 4 am to run pick up games with this group of dedicated bball players, so that messes up my sleeping.

BODY TYPE: I am kind of fat, and I carry a lot of fat around my belly and upper body. I think I am around 20-25% body fat.  I was once 125 lbs with 6% body fat.

GOALS: I'd like to make NAIA team as a walk on next year fall semester when I enroll into college.  It is a wack division so I think I have a chance.  Dunking would be nice, but short term goal is to touch the rim which I'm about 5 inches short.

CURRENT ABILITY: Currently I have about a standing vertical of 24inches.  max bench - about 200-210, max squat not sure since i have bad form, max squat on free motion machine is about 330 (going all the way below parallel).  max deadlift is also unknown.

INJURY HISTORY: No serious injuries in the past, besides a very serious sprain in 4th grade that has completely healed when I was playing king of the mountain in the snow.  I have a little bit of plantar fasciitis when I dont stretch or when I run way too much.

TRAINING HISTORY & ACHIEVEMENTS: I used to train pretty hard in 7th grade- freshman year.  I went to basketball camps and trained myself every day and even won some awards at future stars, so i do have some type of experience in training.

CURRENT ACTIVITY LEVEL AND/OR TRAINING PROGRAM: For the last 3 months, I've been weight training, and playing a lot of pick up games.  Joined a church league that has some pretty solid competition with inner city and former standouts.  I lift about 2-3 times a week.  Haven't been doing a lot of plyo since I play a lot of pick up games and league basketball.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF CURRENT DIET: I've been eating okay lately.  Steak, potato salad and veggie salads, fruits, breads.  I've stopped drinking soda completely in the last few months, replaced it with solid juice such as pure apple and cranberry.

IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES: Absolutely nothing besides basketball sessions on m-w-f for 2 hours.  It might make my legs pretty sore working out too much on those days.
Nice Job! but adarq wants these in a personal journal mang!

BTW ZGIN

leg drain is, legs propped up ~80 degrees, relaxed, while ur supine on the floor (on ur back), relaxing, pillow under head chillin`, for at least 10 minutes.. I do mine for 15-30 minutes while I irc/forum.. makes legs feel great, helps return pooled blood/inflam chemicals etc from the legs. it also reduces blood flow slightly and you get a little hypoxic environment going on, also good for recovery.

pc

haha. as soon as i posted in my journal, i googled it and found what it was. Can i do it 20 min after the end of my workout?

ya go for it.. i do 30 lol.. legs actually become painful at that point, then i stand up and i feel amazing ;d

When i finish a hard sprint(400m is the worst) I usually get a feeling as if my legs were jello and full of blood
Usually my legs are going to need a few min of recovery before i can run and feel normal again
I think you just stated the cure for this!!!
