Skipped the jumping circuit. Tbh I completely forgot about it until went to start the warm up for the track session and didn't have the time to fit it in. Am looking at ways of putting the week together a bit better to make sure I hit more sessions.

9.30 am
Track Day 2

3xstrides
SL Supine Bridge  x 10
Knee to Elbow WL x 10
Knee to rear foot WL x10
Walking Spiderman x 10
Reverse WL with posterolateral Reach x10
straight Leg skip
Rudiment Hops (all legs)
DL hops (3x10)
L/R leg bounds (2x5)
Alternating leg bounds (2x10)
Speed Bounds
5x20m sprint
3x40m sprint
3xflying 30m sprint
2x60m sprint
2x2x150m
1x300 TT sprint

Did this session on an oval instead of at the track. My son does gymnastics on a Sat morning and the oval is right outside where he trains. Oval was great on the legs as it was a little soft but also bad on the legs as it was pretty slippery in places. This really only affected the 150 and 300. Don't think it would have made too much difference though considering my fitness levels. Went ok though. Did most of the runs with not too much rest. Basically just walking back to the starting point, getting my breath and going again. The 150s were hard and the 300 was a struggle. 51s for the 300 which almost seems too embarrassing to write but there it is.

5pm
Lifting Day 3:

Squats: (3, 1, 1, 1 @ 90%)
bar x 10, 60 x 5, 80 x 3, 90 x 3
105 x 1, 1, 1

Dumbell Single Leg Deadlift to Press
16 x 3, 3, 3

Incline Press
bar x 8, 40 x 6, 60 x 4, 60 x 8

Dumbell Row
20 x 15, 15

Weighted Pullups

Unfortunately really quick session. Only had about 35 mins all up. Squats went well. Pretty easy. SL DL to press was a disaster. Set up 20kg on my DB and the collar slipped off on the first rep and weights went flying. Used a 16kg KB for the other reps. Only did 3 reps due to being that short on time. Rest of the workout was pretty much phoned in. I fit the incline press and rows into about 6 minutes.

Pretty decent day. Ended it with a burger and some beers so I can't complain.

I'm starting to think something holding me back in life is my mind. Time to fake it til i make it

This is the great equalizer. As the Henry Ford saying goes "whether you think you can or you think you can't- you're right"

i dno why but staring out of high rise buildings that overlook a city, at 4 AM and such is kind of fun.

^^^ this

Used to have Friday night work drinks every week on the 30th floor of a CBD building in Melbourne overlooking the city.  Absolutely stunning.

Jump Circuit - 4.15pm

Sub max VJ 1x10
SL VJ 2x5
Max VJ 2x3
Repetitive Jumps 3x5
T0ddday method - 1, 2 & 3 step x 3 each

Did not do the penultimate or max SL jumps as the left knee is still sore and was getting more sore by the minute. Repetitive and T0ddday method felt really good though.

Weights to come in 30 mins or so.

Lifting- 5.30pm

Squats- (5@70, 3@85, 1@100)
bar x 10, 60 x 5, 80 x 5, 100 x 3, 115 x 1 3 (was meant to do 1 but it felt pretty easy so I did 3)

Deadlift- (5, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1)
80 x 5, 100 x 3, 120 x 2, 130 x 1, 140 x 1, 150 x 1

Push Press (3x3-8)- last week (3x3@50)
bar x 8, 40 x 3, 50 x 5, 5, 8 (had some extra push on the last set)

Interrupting kids and phone calls for work made this session longer than it needed to be. As a result I ran out of time and missed the slant board ab curl and med ball tosses. Still pretty happy with the way things are progressing. Felt strong again and the deadlifts feel like they are coming back. 150 was a bit stilted but it was mixed grip, no straps or belt so there's plenty of upside here.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Exogenic Ketones

Thoughts on ketones? I am coming across more and more guys going full keto but there seems to be a way to get some benefits without going low/no carb.

Put the price aside for the sake of this discussion.  Also, put aside that Paul Carter looks to be repped by the manufacturer. Just for the moment anyway.

Have been thinking about something like the anabolic diet for a while and this may provide somewhat of a nice balance. It's also not all about performance though as I've been reading a lot on the overall health benefits involved.

Alright then. Go get it!

If you're feeling strong at 79 and you can tolerate a recomp then do it. I'm at 91 and want to get to 87-88 but am happy to let volume dictate that as I seem to be losing around the waist anyway.

Also, if you feel stronger at that weight then what's a cpl of kg anyway.

Ball game last night. Was funny but after the way I played last week I had a huge amount of confidence and focus going into the game. Had a great warm up and threw down two one handers just before tip off. The first rattled in and was sketchy but the second was genuine and easily got my wrist above the rim. Legs felt strong too. I felt better than I did last week and it seems to be building nicely.

Was beasting in the first half. Had 11 points in the first half and 9 points before the other team even scored. Even did a Hakeem shake'n'bake on one guy in the post. Had a drive down the centre of the lane which would have ended in a dunk if I had another 4-5" of vj. I finished with a finger roll but it was close. Had some great assists too and it felt like I was grabbing every rebound in sight. Got heavily fouled multiple times in the 2nd half which went uncalled and I ran out of a bit of steam which sucked. Ended with 17 points and we won by 10. As my fitness improves I can see myself easily scoring 25+ every game even without being a ball hog. It just seems that not too many guys go hard for rebounds in this league the way I do. Zero blocks again though which sucks. It is worth noting that I'm not playing against world class opponents here but they're competitive enough to provide some resistance. There's really 1 other team out of the 9 in the grade that post a real threat to us.

All in all I'm feeling stronger and getting quicker each week. V excited to keep this going.

One thing I've pulled myself up on is not getting enough protein. Have only taken in 130-140g per day the last week or two and have found myself starving. Need to get on top of that ASAP.

funny about catch and shoot .. i dont really ghet to practice it much, only in the if you get it in you get it back kinda way in shooting with other ppl. dont have someone to rebound for me ... im working on that, if i i can arrange that i will have better quality shooting sessions.

Yep this is the hard part about solo practice. I end up bouncing the ball off the end of the court sometimes or other times just spinning it back to myself.

When you say lhs or rhs doesn't matter in catch and shoot is that because a good shooter can adjust to either side not that the mechanics are identical.  Like i have two different feels and techniques depending on which side.  Have to consciously bring the ball closer to my head on rhs wing 3pt shot

Yep. Catch and shoot should be identical. The mechanics are exactly the same and should not change depending on the side.

But they do .. lol.. like handedness matters, i shoot with my left so it will look different coming out of the hand depending on which way the ball is going. I need to simplify things but right now i have  a long list of rules to go thru to get a shot off depending on a bunch of factors... it reminds me of when i was learning common lisp and i had this tenous mind model of how things worked and as i learned more, i added some bits but mostly removed a lot of misconceptions

Nah it shouldn't. When you release the ball you should be square to the basket (shoulders that is) so it doesn't matter where you are on the court. How you get square is a different matter and that's maybe where you're at. It's easier for you to get square on the RHS than the LHS so the shot feels different.

I shoot better on RHS of the rim .. even though i'm left handed. This actually is new cos i think it used to be the other way around. So something has changed. I can't figure out what. but im better off specialising on one side and mastering it?

I'd say this would be common. I'm a better shooter from the LHS of the rim and I'm right handed.

Go to your strengths if you can but you don't want to be unable to or not confident enough to shoot from the LHS so work on both.

Pretty often bro, i balled sunday, tuesday, thursday, sunday and then yesterday. It just takes me some time to find the rhythm and once i do it's all swishes but until then i can't get anything going .. frustrating.

Haha ok I've got nothing for you then. Only the boring stuff like doing 1 hand set shots to begin your practice.

interview on thursday for a sizeable bank in NYC. junior information security analyst position.
have no idea what to ask for. my friend says ask for $65k. seems high to me since i have no relevant work exp, but it may just be right. my other friend got $60k starting for the same position at our university. my life will really change if i land this job... we'll see how it goes! at the very least i'll get some great interview experience.

Good luck. Do they give you a salary range in the position description? In Aus it's mandatory to advertise the salary range when advertising a job.

Left knee still bugging me. Skipped the planned jumps and did the daily mob and a heap of rolling, SMR and stretching. Ball game tomorrow so will see how that goes and do jumps and weights the day after if I can.
