thanks darq, im finna get em. Im just tired of these slippery ass tmac shoes.

some new pairs of NZWR's have some "slippery" substance on the rubber, like to make it shinnier, just scrape em up a bit or walk around in em for a few days, gets rid of it.. lots of shoes have that though.

wow check this court, this post is from guga's journal:

Dic 26, 2010

I found were the new courts were built, it was windy, but just 70km/hr. Vert was the same, maybe Ill squat later. My legs still have some residual inflamatory fluid on the upper hams.

The boards have double rim, the lower is 10' I think and the upper is 2-3" higher. I want to congratulate the dumb shit who wasnt able to build a fence or something.

Squats
[135,185,225 x6][275,325 x4][365x2][385,405 x1]
- 405 1x1

* empty BW 194.5lbs. maintaining 194.5lb consistently now. the lifts are easy today. i had saturday off and that extra day of rest made a difference. i could have gone for my work sets of 4reps but getting to the gym at 8am without a strong pre-workout breakfast/dinner is not a good idea.
* next workout is on tuesday. skipped jumps today. want to get 425x2-4 soon and just focus on jumps after that.

why not rotate based on fatigue, instead of a 7 day period? A few of these sessions lately, you rest one extra day and come back very strong.. should just rotate through without woring about wed/sun etc.

?

^ repeatable sub-max jumps are higher and easier. i dont go for max jumps without some sort of squat delaod.  its either the low intensity 18/24" DJ, or the added leg mass, or both..  i can grab rim with both hands consistently and with less effort.

if i need to really put effort in grabbing rim with 2 hands and miss it for a couple of attempts - thats the sign i look for that im not explosive. so far i can always grab rim even on first rep.. so im happy with my jumps. id say repeatable 34-36" while doing 405s.

nice!!!!

merry christmas man!
loving the jumps, you got some ghetto hoops around there

thanks man, ya we got tons of courts.. will be fun to dunk on all of em`.

ya def looks much higher

coo, most people think it does so glad i'm not the only one, definitely felt high as fuck to me when i was there.. heh!

12/25/2010 x-mas, air-jesus style

bw = 155
soreness = none
aches/injuries = left knee achy (from stretching my ankles last night, sitting on my ankles), right peroneal
fatigue = high as F
diet = alot of stuff

tired as hell today.. very odd.

workout #1:
- 6 mile walk with interval sprints mixed in
- for the first 2 miles, i could barely jog, my right lower leg felt so bad, so i sat on a bus stop bench and went to town on my peroneal, massive trigger points,... spent 15 minutes murdering it, then it felt fine the rest of the training.. did it again around mile 4 just in case.. i could feel the muscle in question that i fixed the trigger point in, it was causing so much weird feeling in my ankle/calf until i released it.

workout #2:
- half squat: a little higher: 305 x 7
- half squats, normal depth: 285 x 10, 265 x 12, 245 x 15, 225 x 20, wanted 135 x whatever but was raining too hard

had 2 squat in the rain..

legs were TOAST tonight though, prior to squatting and during walk etc.

recovery: currently foam rolling with PVC/baseball, lots of pain.. my fascia feels horrible.

gonna dunk monday

peace

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hey hey

welcome!

Hi all,  I'm here to achieve some fitness goals.  Especially in regard to improving vert.  I wanted to dunk for as long as I can remember.  Back when i was in high school I put it down a couple times, but I had to throw myself a perfect alley oop to do it.  Years went by and my fitness goals shifted to just basic bodybuilding type protocols....unfortunately I thought i was allergic to squats and most lower body exercises, so it's fair to say I'm pretty upper body dominant.

I turned 32 this past year and I wasn't ready to give up on the goal of dunking.  I started squatting more regularly (and deeper than ever), and started to learn the olympic lifts.  I added in a few sprints, and experimented with a bit of plyo.  Eventually I got to the point where I was able to dunk it pretty consistently. I wasn't able to do anything too impressive, but it still felt pretty awesome to be able to put it down.

damn!!!!!!! nice progress man.

A couple months ago I rolled my ankle badly....haven't been able to play or do much training since.

damn :/ hope your ankle is healing up, is it at least progressing towards 100%? 2 months is pretty long, must have been a very serious sprain.

  Anyway, I'm here to learn, train hard and get results.  If I can encourage others or help in any way that's cool too.

Cheers,
Clarence

awesome, glad you're here.. i've seen you posted a journal but havn't checked yet, been so busy.

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: Depth jump "introspection"
« on: December 26, 2010, 04:57:07 am »
ya what lance said, it all depends on landing mechanics and rebound height.. You can use boxes that are a bit above the "optimal box height", as an overload stimulus, for sure.. you just can't do it if your landings are compromised.. if there's excessive caving in at the knees or heel is just slamming into the ground hard, then that would be too high.. but if technique looks good & the athlete feels fine, for sure you can use a box height that challenges their rebound height.. anything well below SVJ height for the dj rebound is too much, but anything slightly below, AT, or above SVJ is fine imo... slightly is ~1" or so.

peace man

Very very quick jump

Raptor, about the hip bend, I think it is in part due to genetics/limb structure. If you lok at the way cskin walks, his legs are slightly pointed outwards, meaning he has a glute preference. People with straighter legs, or legs pointed inwards may use the deeper quad bend more. Examples include Guy dupuy, maybe adarqui, AUT, myself.. it's hard for me to throw my legs out to much actually

I'm not sure about that. I still think Adarqui could get higher with more posterior chain, he's currently destroying his knees, (they look to be under extreme tension when he jumps judging by their position) in my opinion because of this high dependence on quads and their usage in jumping. To me, that's sub-optimal biomechanics. I know I'm on an island while saying what I'm about to say, but I don't really think it depends that much on the individual.

Yes, it does depend on the individual, but I think more in strength than in structure. I think in terms in structure the body will alter the jump stance (feet wider apart) and stuff like that, rather than muscle involvement. Muscle involvement depends on strength IMO.

i'm destroying my knees folks, because i'm not a "p-cain jumper"

 :uhhhfacepalm:

Damn bro, sorry to hear that.  Ice that shit and do some glute bridges..... NOWWWWW!  ;)

ya, i mean my knees feel great, but apparently they are being destroyed.

thanks for the heads up raptor.
