Squats
[135,185,225 x6][275,325 x4][365x2][385,405 x1]
- 405 1x1
* empty BW 194.5lbs. maintaining 194.5lb consistently now. the lifts are easy today. i had saturday off and that extra day of rest made a difference. i could have gone for my work sets of 4reps but getting to the gym at 8am without a strong pre-workout breakfast/dinner is not a good idea.
* next workout is on tuesday. skipped jumps today. want to get 425x2-4 soon and just focus on jumps after that.
^ repeatable sub-max jumps are higher and easier. i dont go for max jumps without some sort of squat delaod. its either the low intensity 18/24" DJ, or the added leg mass, or both.. i can grab rim with both hands consistently and with less effort.
if i need to really put effort in grabbing rim with 2 hands and miss it for a couple of attempts - thats the sign i look for that im not explosive. so far i can always grab rim even on first rep.. so im happy with my jumps. id say repeatable 34-36" while doing 405s.

Hi all, I'm here to achieve some fitness goals. Especially in regard to improving vert. I wanted to dunk for as long as I can remember. Back when i was in high school I put it down a couple times, but I had to throw myself a perfect alley oop to do it. Years went by and my fitness goals shifted to just basic bodybuilding type protocols....unfortunately I thought i was allergic to squats and most lower body exercises, so it's fair to say I'm pretty upper body dominant.
I turned 32 this past year and I wasn't ready to give up on the goal of dunking. I started squatting more regularly (and deeper than ever), and started to learn the olympic lifts. I added in a few sprints, and experimented with a bit of plyo. Eventually I got to the point where I was able to dunk it pretty consistently. I wasn't able to do anything too impressive, but it still felt pretty awesome to be able to put it down.
A couple months ago I rolled my ankle badly....haven't been able to play or do much training since.
Anyway, I'm here to learn, train hard and get results. If I can encourage others or help in any way that's cool too.
Cheers,
Clarence

					Very very quick jump
Raptor, about the hip bend, I think it is in part due to genetics/limb structure. If you lok at the way cskin walks, his legs are slightly pointed outwards, meaning he has a glute preference. People with straighter legs, or legs pointed inwards may use the deeper quad bend more. Examples include Guy dupuy, maybe adarqui, AUT, myself.. it's hard for me to throw my legs out to much actually
I'm not sure about that. I still think Adarqui could get higher with more posterior chain, he's currently destroying his knees, (they look to be under extreme tension when he jumps judging by their position) in my opinion because of this high dependence on quads and their usage in jumping. To me, that's sub-optimal biomechanics. I know I'm on an island while saying what I'm about to say, but I don't really think it depends that much on the individual.
Yes, it does depend on the individual, but I think more in strength than in structure. I think in terms in structure the body will alter the jump stance (feet wider apart) and stuff like that, rather than muscle involvement. Muscle involvement depends on strength IMO.
i'm destroying my knees folks, because i'm not a "p-cain jumper"
Damn bro, sorry to hear that. Ice that shit and do some glute bridges..... NOWWWWW!
