Klay has a torn ACL. Long road ahead for him and KD.

much longer for KD. recovery rate for ACLs is really good now. KD may never be the same player again.

also what an anticlimax at the end, with the refs mucking everything up with the foul call. like, if it really happened before the ball was inbounded then why spend five minutes at the monitor debating it? and if it happened after the ball was inbounded then just let the clock run out, it's meaningless to the outcome of the game. pretty nuts that the warriors came so close in such a battered state. wish there could be a game 7, but oh well.

hard not to feel like it's the end of an era.

two years to wait for surgery in the public system? yeesh. i wonder what non-emergency ortho waiting times are like on medicaid (public insurance only for low-income/poor people) in the US.

how much would the private surgery cost? and do you have insurance that would cover it or would it be out of pocket?

if you're fearing injury, you're doing the wrong routine.

joined a gym.

- treadmill tempo/progression: 1 km @ 10.5, 12, 14, 15, 10.5, 15/10.5, 9
total 7 km in ~36:30. the late 500m split at 15kph was a bit tough, legs felt tired. still not too hard overall. the last segment at 9kph (6:40/10:44 pace) was good practice for future superslow runs.

- pull up myo-rep x 8+3+3

- dip x 8+3+3
took it easy since it's the first time in a long time doing these

- straight leg raise x 10,10,10

- BSS x 10/leg

- stretch

that is a bummer. i still mourn the first gym i went to in DC. they had to close it because of a dispute with their landlord. by then they'd grown, opening bigger branches in a couple of other neighborhoods, but the original place was just the best. any kind of equipment you could want, a regulation basketball court, and small enough that i knew both the owners. a real community. RIP balance kalorama.

counterpoint: jumpers like scoob (and me) need all the arm swing we can get. jumping that high for us is as dependent on technique as a high jump. messing with the technique at all, for example by holding something tenuously in one hand, is a recipe for not just losing inches but flailing around like an idiot.

nice and relaxed, through the beautiful park near gf's aunt and uncle's. mostly in the shade but it was still a bit warm (29-30, mid-80's) and i'm getting over this cold.

- push up x 15,15,15

- stretch

looking forward, strangely, to running in the islamabad heat again. it builds character, could set me up for a fit autumn in europe.

also, meant to mention that although we didn't run for a couple days we've been walking quite a lot, exploring neighborhoods in which we might live.
