your 8 rep max will be about 75%

It will be lower if you haven't done 8 rep work in a while. Can we agree on that?

Or, to re-phrase it, it will still be about 75%, but you won't be able to perform it if you haven't done higher rep work in a while.

You'll be doing about 70% until you get into the groove of 8RM, and then you'll be up to 75%.

That's what I don't like about changing rep schemes every week. You could be lifting more on both your 5RM and 8RM days (and therefore give a bigger training effect) if the rep schemes weren't alternated a week apart. Think about it.

^ Definitely more potential. I was VERY surprised to see your head that close to that 9'3" cushion on the backboard. Are you getting up 38"? Doesn't even look like that much because of the approach... you'll be at 40" soon.

Today I played absolute atrocious basketball. I even got a wide open fast break and couldn't dunk it. Clapped against the rim and got a silent 2 points with no D on me.

They would absolutely tear anybody you know to shreds.

My friend was back-up pointguard for Kemba Walker in high school (they played for Rice). My friend goes to a D-2 college now. Kemba Walker won a championship with UConn. I've got to ask my friend what it was like guarding him in practice.

I guarded a D-1 player that plays for Iona when we were in high school. He was a shooting guard who averaged 27pts and 12reb as a senior I think, then 38pts and 11reb in the playoffs. I kid you not when I tell you, I was my team's best defender and this was by far the toughest person I've ever had to guard in my life. He dropped 36 on me and I mean I have never ever ever admitted in my life that it was almost impossible to guard someone.

here's his stats: http://psal.org/psalsports/player/psal_playerprofile.asp?cid=263201915&csport=001

He now averages 6ppg for Iona.

Now imagine guarding an NBA player who averages 6ppg

Now imagine guarding Kobe.

Edit: It's weird though, because I also guarded this kid when I was a sophomore http://psal.org/psalsports/player/psal_playerprofile.asp?cid=251021259&csport=001
33.5ppg as a 6'1 senior.

As a sophomore, I locked him the fuck up and he had 4pts on me in the first half. Then I switched off of him so our 2nd best defender could guard him because I was getting really tired keeping up with him.

I guess it also depends on the style of the offensive player. Some players are not that great, but for me personally, they're tough to guard. Vice-versa also.

but this kid was no joke... he got shot in the knee, then his first game back he dropped 51 points on the best team in our conference.
box score for that game: http://psal.org/psalsports/boxscore/psal_boxdetails.asp?sportid=001&cid=160143
actually, in that box score, u see the other D-1 player I guarded from this same post had 27 on him (and his two teammates each 26 and 27).

nuts.

Everyone knows there max, but not everyone knows their 8RM because the percentage changes depending on if you've been working on high reps or low reps.

I had a teacher who wanted it from me. She was 24 at the time. Everybody knew it. She made it very obvious, but not purposely. You could just see it from her body language.

Whoa, actually, in my school, when I was a freshman our soccer coach slept with a senior twice hahaha. Just realized that while writing this.

was ur 24y/o teacher hot? shoulda took her to a rave with the bubble bath soap suds, smash city.

lolool, she was okay, would prob give it to her just cuz she was my teacher.
well, she was a student teacher, but my actual teacher got pregnant with my gym teacher/bball coach, so the 24 yr/old student teacher took over for 3 months or so.

i remember answering a question in class with a long explanation and she'd be licking her lips and staring. then she'd walk to the other side of the room and everyone in the room turned to me and went "omg did u see that?"

I think monday is really intensive.

On top of that, i don't like how some programs change set/rep schemes from week to week. It's hard to track progress in that way. Sometimes you are accustomed to 3RM's in the squat. Then you have to do say 8RM squats, but it won't be ur actually 8RM because you're so accustomed to 3RM's that it takes a few workouts doing 8RM's to get your body used to the high reps again and then to show your true strength.

He says very deep depth usually requires hamstrings and back to relax. If they relax, it's bad. If they relax = squatter is unequipped.
In the case that they don't relax = squatter is well equipped. Squat deep.

but 90% is a bit unrealistic.

Not for me lol. I need to record this shit. I went 20 for 23 last week from college and nba 3 range.

Yeah? But where was the defense?
No D, just shooting around and stuff.

But no exaggeration, like twice a week I'll go 75% from 3 in a pick-up game. Sometimes my shot is just absolutely ridiculous. I've gotten a lot stronger lately and college 3's feel like deep 2's used to feel. I need to record some shooting to show people. In 2 weeks maybe though... got finals coming up. No time :(

At 1:18 and 1:35.
I'm pretty sure I got higher on the first one. Any measurements on my vert based on the hang time?
There's also slomo in this vid if that makes it easier. Camera records at 30fps, but I'm not sure what playback on youtube is like.
