On the positive side it shows a lot of consistency and discipline to stick with your goal. You’re also getting leaner, which is great from a health and aesthetic point of view.

TRACK-

Stretch/Warmup

100m- 15 seconds
9 minute rest
100m- 14 seconds
7 minute rest
100m- 14 seconds
7 minute rest
100m- 14 seconds
7 minute rest
100m- 14 seconds
7 minute rest
By this stage I was feeling like it was too easy so I decided to step it up a notch by lowering the rest down to 4 minutes.
100m- 14 seconds 4 minute rest
100m- 14 seconds 4 minute rest
100m- 14 seconds

It definitely lifted my heart rate taking the rest periods down to 4 minutes.

Stretch/Cool down

This felt really good. The usual suspect (Achilles tendon) started feeling sensitive as soon as I rocked up to the track. However, my Achilles tendon plays up just sitting at work and getting off my chair in the office. I think it’s just something that I’m going to live with. I’m a real tight ass with my $$$ so I don’t really want to go and see Specialists or physios etc. but my self-diagnosis is that it’s just early arthritis or something because my ankles always crack whenever I’ve been sitting down for a while. Having a BMI of 30 also doesn't help so hopefully once I lose some weight it will take some of the stress of my tendons.

PARK-

Pullups- 3x2
Chin ups- 4x2
Sit ups- 10x2
Dips- 10x2

Bodyweight- 96KG
Waist- 40 inches

SORENESS-

Hamstrings
Calves/Achilles Tendon
Abs

I'll probably be sore tomorrow and I might've been a little overzealous jumping straight back into it but god damn I've missed running.

I've just got big bones

On a serious note I actually put on about 20kg of fat from drinking copious amounts of beer and lots of fast food. I knew I was getting heavier but because I wasn't playing sport anymore I didn't care. The realization that I was getting fat came around a month ago when I had to buy a complete new wardrobe of t-shirts for work. I was wearing Large shirts but I was being strangled so I had to upgrade to XL. After I bought the new shirts I felt alright but than last week I noticed a lot of my trousers weren't fitting anymore. I was sucking in my gut and the buttons popped so that's when I made a decision that I've got to change. When I measured my waist I was horrified. Type II Diabetes, cardiovascular issues, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis and joint/tendon issues are all stuff that I'm exposing myself to by being this heavy. That and the fact that I feel embarrassed to take my shirt off these days as well :-[

On the job front it's going great. I love my job and I'm working in an office now, which has always been the goal. I know some people complain about 9-5 life being boring but compared to labouring or waking up at 3am each morning to work in a meat factory this is like winning the lottery. I've been working in the same job ever since I moved back to my home state in March 2014. That's one huge positive in my life and given me a lot of self-esteem as well as some financial security.

I finish work in a couple of hours and than I'm off to train. It's a beautiful afternoon here so I'm going to go down to the track and do some tempo runs. I was planning on doing some sets of 200m in 30 seconds with 10 minute rest between each set. However, I'm thinking that might be a bit too ambitious since I haven't been to the track at all for yonks. I'll do some tempo 100s instead.

This will be my new journal now!

Basically for the last 2 years I've been slack and let the 9-5 life take over. I've gotten fat and lazy and want to get back to living a healthy lifestyle again. I'm still not going to go back to the gym because I don't enjoy it and life is too short to waste time doing stuff you don't want to do. However, I will be doing body weight exercises, playing basketball, and doing cardio through tempos/sprints. Most importantly I am modifying my diet by not overeating and limiting the amount of fast food I eat.

Current Weight- 96KG
Waist- 43 inches above the belly button/40 inches below the belly button.

Goals-
Lose weight & have a healthier lifestyle.

Lifetime PRs
60m- 7.46
100m- 11.37
SVJ- 27 inches
RVJ- 36 inches

Are you mainly going to run pros this season or a mixture of pros and amateur?
How's your training coming along now? Same old or is it different now that it's almost race time.

Not really a music video but some powerful photos.
". Pelé tells the true story of Sierra Leone's descent into all out civil war during the early 90's, and how the luster of diamonds left millions of people displaced and resulted in untold scores of deaths. Through unique lyrical imagery, Pelé becomes the first rapper to discuss in detail the horrors and tragedies experienced by innocent victims of RUF militias and government soldiers".

Squatstrong: Week 1- Day 4

Sprint time!!!

Ended up doing the running with my wife who is a far better runner than I. I am far quicker over short distances but cannot keep up over the longer distances which is basically anything over 400-600m.

400m warm up
3 x 400m with 200m job between

4 x 50m sprint with 50 walk inbetween

Like I said it ended up deviating from the plan but was good to run with the missus.
Also would have done more but calves and TFL area were ridiculously tight and felt on the verge of tearing. Figured it'd be better to pull back a bit and rest.

Nice to see you're doing running ;D

But yeah definitely take a conservative approach when it comes to calves. They're an absolute bitch to recover from once they start getting damaged.

Fastest time by an Australian in 5 years.
9th Fastest Australian of all time.

That sucks about the timing issues. The other annoying thing is when they have no wind indicated (NWI) so the time doesn't count officially either.
Have you raced any more pro races recently?

1722
Makes sense.
Efficiency of power and superior technique.

1723
I think I can run the 100m under 14 seconds, as I was able to reduce my training time down by 2-3 seconds. So I am finished with that workout.
It's great you're finally going to the track after your 8 month (!!) hill training phase.

 :trolldance:

It was a tailwind of 3.4 so it's not legal but it's still an excellent performance.
Definitely a name to watch out for.

Thanks guys. Im trying to keep my head up its just every day is so much harder than the last. I did go lift last night, didnt want to but I made myself. I'll update this post later with the workout.

That's good man.
It's hard to stay positive but the best thing you can do is be around friends and keep yourself occupied with basketball, gym, and work etc. otherwise you'll dwell on shit and become even more depressed.
Women can be ruthless. My ex took my car, my tv, furniture, and pretty much everything in that house was mine. That's just material shit luckily I don't have kids but if they got taken away from me I'd be frustrated as well and would be doing anything I can to get them back.

I don't know what it's like in the US but in Aus the court system is bullshit. Takes years and years to get outcomes and usually favors women but hopefully in your case you get a quicker outcome and a favorable one at that.

Peace
