whatup man

Hey everybody, first off a little about me.
I'm 21/M 5'9" wit shoes 148 lbs, around 9% body fat.
Squat 160 (5 reps), Deadlift 185 (5 reps), Bench Press 185 (1repmax)

definitely need to get alot stronger

Quote
7'0" reach (short arms) and a 33" max 2 feet vert, 36" max 1 foot vert (basically just touching rim).

you sure only 7'0 reach? that's EXTREMELY short for 5'9... that's one arm or two? regardless, very low reach that'd be some very short arms.

if that's your true reach then those are some nice vert numbers.

regardless of your actual vert, if you are just touching rim, barely, you're going to want around 8 inches over to land that first dunk

I have been totally in love with and obsessed with basketball since I was in middle school.  I'm a scoring guard, who is usually the player with the quickest 1st step on the court 9 times out of 10.  Since moving to campus at my university, and having free access to a weight room and basketball courts all the time, I have decided to revitalize my goal of dunking.  I have literally been obsessed with being able to dunk for the past few months and have done extensive research online and such.  As I join this forum I hope I will gain the knowledge on how to do just that from the members and Adarqui himself.

awesome man, sounds like you have pretty good quickness.. will check your journal tomorrow probably, saw you posted one.

peace man

I am a belgian 21yo, 6ft tall, about 155-160lbs.
I used to be in basketball but then i quit that to go train for the 400m. That unfortunately did not work out very well. There were injuries but also the fact that i cannot see my trainer for months in a row is not a good thing at all.

sucks ;/

400m is tough to do without a 'group' + coach.

So i decided to pick up what i always loved: training for speed/power/strength and mainly vertical jump!

nice!

I don't have any stats right now. I am in mediocre shape, have been way better.

I am in my 4th year of physiotherapy at Leuven university so i know a thing or two about anatomy and sports training in general. After i finish my 5th year, i might start starting sports at the university as well.

really cool man, physio brings in the money but sport training (S&C) is always more fun to me, that's why i went that route.

I will start up a journal in which i will share my training and post up some vids!

Greetings

Pjtvs

awesome man can't wait to see that progress.

peace man

could it be becuz of the trianing? mb hormonal system messed up or smth? one of the girls from my club had some glands in her neck swollen up from too much training was so sore to the point she coulnd't walk out of the house....but she trains around 10 times/week, she does track, dancing and gym (her dad is a bodybuilder)

nah it's definitely not from training.. i can handle what i'm doing.. i just got staph 4 weeks back and it fucked me up hardcore.

ya see i don't train that much..

Is the left nut your "problem" nut? I mean, I know you don't wanna hear this, but could that be the culprit?

ya it's my problem nut but i doubt it's the culprit.. shit hurting me even more today.. fml

yup i have two 'lumps' (osgood schlotters bumps) on both patellar tendon insertions, from quad tendonitis when i was young.

sucks, ice helps a ton.. finding out what is inflaming it is important too, might need to avoid certain things for a while.

Hey all. Cool site.

thanks man, welcome to the forum!

I'm from Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. I'm a beach volleyball player and train to improve my vertical out of sand primarily. I play outside left hitter. Big wind up, try to kill some dudes  ;D

hah sounds fun.

I used to go to a commercial gym but got sick of bro's tying up the power rack for curling. So I went to night school, learnt to weld and built myself a rack at home. Now I have enough gear to do all my workouts at home. No waiting. I'll post some pics shortly.

really nice, i trained at home until recently, i actually like being in a commercial gym right now, hot chicks, 24 hour access, basketball court, hahaha.. but ya someone was doing curls in squat rack today so i used the half rack.. funny

I'm 5'9" and 92kg. No idea what my vert is but its heaps better than a year ago. I've squatted 160kg x 1, 145kg x 3 (low bar athletic stance, past paralell) and deadlifted 180kg x 3 (never done a 1rm). Just finished a vertical jump bible intermediate program and freestyling for a week while I decide whether to bulk or cut next. I'm carrying a bit of extra fat from bulking since November. Not serious fat, but I was always a chubby kid.

nice lifting man.. at 5'9, from the sounds of it you get up pretty good, based on the volleyball description.. 92kg at 5'9 is pretty big, lean up & maintain strength, you should be flying.

I have a few specific questions about jump training that I'll put up in the relevant sections. Look forward to sharing the love with you all  :)

cool man!

duuuuuuuuude... if you want more hips you should be semi-sumo or sumo'n.. the end.. no reason someone with your lanky ass legs should be pulling conventional, unless you want lots of low back contribution.

semi sumo it..

I like the left hand shot with legs kicking...

ya seems i always leg kick on lefty's.. gotta get better at them they'd look cool when i land them, if i learned to throw them down better.

Quote
Is that Dave Tate there? Damn, tell him I won't talk about leg pressing again.

yes, no one believes me, dave tate is my bruh.

That shit is stupid man. Doctors and the medical system are a fucking mess. Anyway dude, best thing to do right now is relax and wait it out. I'm pretty confident you're not dying - have some faith in your body dude! It ain't gonna just let some little infection overrun it!

well it would be amazing if somehow my immune system started fighting off the armpit lumps by itself and i got healthier.. dno, we'll see tomorrow.. i imagine it'll be slightly worse.

peace man!
