I can't palm the ball good enough to where it stays in my hand in the air. which causes me do what my husband calls "high layup dunks" where the ball slips out my hand but still goes in and I grab rim. I can palm a mens ball when I'm just standing or walking around but no bouncing or running.

I was the same way when I was younger. I basically just learned to jump high enough to use centrifugal force to keep the ball in my hand and throw it down. But then I grew so my hands are much larger now, and I am able to palm it. I'm guessing your hands aren't going to be growing much. Maybe some hand strengthening could help with that. Just a thought.

Yeah and... can you palm a ball? I mean, a basketball, to be more specific.

Not necessary dude.

...fake?

Haha. Dang that cat can jump!

Has there ever been that many white dunkers in one room?! I mean, dang! Hahaha.

This video was on SportsCenter Top Plays #2 about a week ago. I love the 1 dribble posterizations!

Jeremy Lamb, a few more pounds on that skinny frame, some improvement with the ball in his hands and this kid will be going to the league as a mini-Durant. He's 6'5" with a 7'4" wingspan, a feathery release on his shot and great feel for the game on offense! He can play! And to think, when I was a sophmore I can remember his miniature self sitting on the last spot on the bench and rebounding for me during warmups. lol

Welcome aboard. Just curious, do you have any videos of your girly dunks? I'm -always- impressed when a girl can even get close to the rim, let alone dunk it! Congrats on the progress already made too! That's legit!

Football / Re: LOCKOUT NEXT YEAR IN NFL

It's a shame those millionaires won't make a few hundred thousand dollars during that time. Shame shame shame.

whatever bro. I just want the football. The debate is about their health, many of them are having serious health problems. I saw a show saying that many of them lose all that money and can't keep it for their entire lives anyway. They work extremely hard for a short period, make alot of money, then they cannot(physically) work again. that money spent out throught their lives is not making them as rich as one might think. Divide that million by years, taxes...ect.

Don't kid yourself. Every labor dispute in pro sports is about revenue sharing. Sure, they may hide behind the health issues, and may try to use them to get the PR; but every, single, dispute, is about how much money the billionaire owners think they should get to keep from giving these millionaire/thousandaire athletes. Who gets a bigger piece of the pie is the main ordeal. Always has been, always will be.

Believe me, I sure do hope they get the better healthcare plans and I don't want a longer season either. But that's just not what they're fighting over.

NFL and the NBA will have a lockout next year simply because the rich want to get richer.

Basically, after I worked out, I would shoot 10 free throws. If I air-balled any of them then I would not shoot around because I knew my form would suffer too much and shooting would not be beneficial to me at that time. I'd go run or something then shoot around later.

you have airballed freethrows?????  :uhhhfacepalm:

:)

After working out Arms & Shoulders for 45 minutes, yes. :)

...and once in middle school...

Can I just add that it's not a bad idea to do shooting after lifting. It can help in a lot of ways. If you focus on form, footwork, hand/shoulder movement after lifting it makes it much more difficult to shoot when your arms and legs are tired and forces your focus to stay sharp, making it a natural movement ingrained in your B-DNA (Basketball-DNA). Don't shoot for hours on end or anything, but 15-20 minutes of shooting/dribbling after lifting was always beneficial for me unless I was so exhausted from the workout that my form suffered while shooting.

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: 2011 Goals Index
« on: January 28, 2011, 09:08:32 am »
CURRENT STATS:

Height: 6'5"
weight: 217lbs (BF% +/- 13%)
Bench: (never really measured)
Squat: - (I was close to BW before my knees started hurting too much.)

GOALS:
Long-Term--
*Re-gain vert to pre-injury state.
*Reduce pain in knees.
*Increase overall leg strength, not just for vert, but for overall health.
*Focus on diet to decrease bodyfat% into single digits. Preferably around 7-8%.
*Run half-marathon (I can already do it, my knees just hurt too much to complete now.)
*Eventually be pain-free enough to start squatting.
*I really don't care about a specific vert #, as long as I feel it's high enough to do what I want. What would benefit me more, would be increased endurance in my jumping. In otherwords, being able to jump with close to M.E. for the majority of a game or a day of pickup, etc. I can already do most of the dunks I want to, if I could do them more consistently and pain-free, then that's what would make me happy. The actual # of my vert is trivial to that. which is probably why I've never tested my vert to get the # anyways.

Month-by-Month--
Jan: missed out, started late
*Basically, let me knee heal...it kinda did.
*Start TKE, GHR, RDL, and some other exercises Adarq suggested.
*Focus on diet.

Feb:
*Continue and progress w/ exercises listed above.
*Maybe add lunges or step ups by end of month.
*Focus on diet.
*Feel good enough to video a new dunk session with my knees.

Mar:
*Continue w/ exercises above. (If lunges/stepups go well, maybe add box squats...)
*Focus on diet.

Apr:
*Re-evaluate exercises depending on knee-health and pain-level.
*Focus on diet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Because my knee's health, I currently feel that creating goals for the whole year might be counter-productive. A lot of my goals depend on my knees getting healthier and I don't want to overstate and have to redo my whole journal if I have a setback. I think taking my goals in 3-month periods would be a lot better for my self. Now, if my knees are good to go by this point in the year (April) then I will draw up the rest of my goals all at once, but otherwise, 3-month increments seems like a good idea to me.

(May:Jun:Jul:Aug:Sep:Oct:Nov:Dec: Coming Soon.)

Look around for local screenprint shops. They can be cheaper than you think sometimes. I got a friend who runs one and he generally gets us tshirts/jerseys for basketball leagues for under $10 a pop w/ a simple design on them. Of course, that may be at cost and all that w/o shipping of course, but it can't hurt to ask around.
