For example, I went heavy on the squats on Monday, my legs were toast tues and wed, and although I did manage to get in some work done on squats thurs ytd, my legs were still slightly sore going in.
I was abt to ask if perhaps submax weights were the answer, but I think u have been pushing the weights every squat session right?
well, eating maintenance kcal's is enough to recover, so.. you don't need "excess kcal' to recover, excess kcal will help lead to hypertrophy and fat gain.
i'm adapted to crazy high frequencies, im a work aholic.. if you were to squat every other day, you'd adapt to it.. you have to force the stimulus initially and risk feeling like shit, but you adapt.. plus you'd have to change up your set/rep schemes occasionally to avoid staleness due to the high frequency stimulus.
well i push the weights when they are submax, so, it's still intense.. 10 reppers are very intense.. but ya, i try to push it pretty much every workout, sometimes you have to hold back though.. that's the "art of training", just knowing what to do and listening to your body.. ego can really mess with you when it comes to that, it sure does for me.
pC cowed!@$!
high rep calf raises is just a great way to completely fatigue every MU, i can't seem to do it with low rep calf raises, not one bit.. my calfs will feel dead but i'll feel i have alot more left in the tank, hard to explain.. with high rep calf raises, they are completely fatigued and I feel i tapped into everything I possibly could, plus it makes them feel really good and keeps the risk of tweaking the achilles a little lower.
How many reps are we talking regarding the 'high rep' calf raise phase?. Bordering failure?.
20-30 total, definitely failure, strict form failure.

Also, when you talk about low rep calf raises, have you increased the load?.
ya, of course.. i personally hate low rep very heavy calve work, it's just too hard on the tendons when you're also incorporating jumping/sprinting etc.. not a fan of it in the least, ez way to cause achilles tendonitis issues.
