someone tagged me in a very old photo (for sad undiscussed reasons). this is probably from 1993.

surprisingly good smile in this photo. :ninja:

the kid in front of me, leaning onto the chair, was probably my best non-computer friend growing up. so best irl friend. he's the one who tagged me.

Article & Video Discussion / Re: Isaiah Rivera, pro dunker, lifts weights
« on: September 24, 2019, 10:28:39 pm »
It's pretty unusual to see a pro dunker that actually help build his hops from the start with weights.
Most cruise on by genetics and might lift later on for extras, and usually not that heavy.
Although Jonathon Clark is pretty strong as well, and some of the Russian guys are big on weights

He actually mentions this forum in the first video ;D

had no idea. used to follow that dude's progress for a long time. i kind of detached from almost-everything at some point. but i've been detaching from the running community as well, so it's nothing specific.

i'm actually very excited to learn this forum helped him in some way, even if it was just finding the next step in his progression.

that's really cool. :wowthatwasnutswtf: :ibjumping:

he must have never seen my vids tho.. it's "a-dark dot o r g" lulz.

(3:14 into the video. pi)

It's good to see he got a solid foundation getting into Starting Strength right from the start, instead of the usual bro routines people tend to do.
Although squatting in BBall shoes ain't the best...

he weighs 175lbs

and yup, he is a beast. his "squad" in central/north florida, is one of the coolest things i've ever seen in the vert/dunk game. all of those kids came together to improve, now they are grown dudes all throwing down nasty dunks.

I think Celli is still hurt unfortunately. Most of his vids seem to be about him rehabing now, and he's taken on more of a vlog-ish focus - probably because he's hurt. When that dude is healthy, he's just throwing down every day.

Rivera (pro), Celli, CJ (pro), Rivera's cousin, and a few others formed a great squad up there in Central/North FL, i've made lots of posts about them in the "a whole bunch of dunks and shit" thread.. it's somewhere in here, lol. i need to post more in it, it's a decent chronicle of the dunk game.

http://www.adarq.org/basketball/the-'regular-people-dunking-thread'/2235/

i like the ~2 hour dunk session route, but it's also a bit risky. the thing i like most about it though is, just the stubbornness of it. just continuing to try, over and over, is so important. lifting, reactive work, diet, sleep, body comp etc can all provide a good boost/base, but have to get in tons of jumps, and somewhat frequently, IMHO.

and one thing about the NFL.. a team can be up big, then let off the gas, play "prevent defense", and give another team some rhythm, then completely collapse.

always fun to watch.

I watched the Saints v Seahawks game. The Saints did really well despite not having Drew Brees. Alvin Kamara is such a beast. He's like a pinball machine he just bounces straight out of tackles and makes play after play. Deonte Harris is lightening.

"He's like a pinball machine" lol

ya he is. he's incredible.

watched that game yesterday. solid 5th qtr come back by the seahawks.

Seahawks did alright but I always thought the game was over by 3rd quarter. Terry Bridgwater did a great job by just letting Kamara do his thing and playing fairly conservative.

it ain't over til it's over. seahawks mounted an impressive comeback :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

i watched the fins lose once in the 4th to the jets, i think the fins were up 30-3.

also watched the pats lose last year to the fins, with the "miracle". still one of the greatest things ive ever seen in sports. was so insane.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiz87A3RpEw

fins have so many epic upsets of the pats. lmao.

pats went on to win a SB tho so they aren't stewing over it.

:D

i've seen so many incredible comebacks in football. if my team is down 30-3 in the 4th, i usually don't stop watching.

this is one of the best finishes ever:

12-7 with 2 minutes left, check the final score:

daaaaaamn!!! looks massive. awesome.

how long will that ant last in "captivity"? i imagine you treat them "well", from the vids etc. wonder how long they live.

She is quite big, but not as big as the largest species.
Also very good eyesight she can track me from a metre away.
This one can do a small jump, and a nasty sting....

They can live for a long time, depending on species and how much rest they get over winter if you don't heat them up, so they stop laying eggs over winter.
You can have bad luck where they die after a year, but if they survive they can live from 10-20+ years

that's crazy. had no idea. very cool.

Decided on a whim to give planche stuff a go. I can do a legit tuck planche now! Have never really managed it for more than a couple of seconds before, so this is exciting. Will alternate dips and planche for push work now.

that's cool hah. you know you're just getting overall stronger when you can do stuff you previously couldn't, out of the blue. that's probably the best form of "gainz".

That grill looks mean!

"looks good and cooks a mean steak" -- weber

jajaja.

ya man can't wait. going to be nice having a grill. i imagine i'll use it more for grilled veggies than steaks/chicken etc. dno yet. ;f
