i think one of the main issues with SVJ is, on these forums, most people simply don't care about it.. it's a skill just like anything else.. sure it'll go up a little as your RVJ goes up considerably, but without directly training it, you can't ever expect to make huge gains in that movement.. most people on here/TVS are "basketball natured", so jumping from a dead start doesn't excite them or make any sense for the world of dunking.. on the other hand, people who do focus on svj, such as vag/tychver/steven-miller/arowe/... etc, do make considerable gains in it.

I personally hate SVJ'n, so even though it's gone up a bit, it's not something I care about.. For example, 3 years ago I measured my highest SVJ on vertec of 124" when my running touch was only 128", I was SVJ'n every workout.. Once I got bored with SVJ, it went down to 120-121" while my RVJ kept increasing to vertec 132.5" touch.

I think you'll find people more interested in SVJ on "strength & bodybuilding forums". One of the reasons, I noticed, is that alot of those people always want to be "better at something" than people who are crazy athletic. For example, if you say lebron james has 44" RVJ, they'll say, "but what is his SVJ".. If you tell them lebron half squats 2.5xBW, they will laugh and say, "but what does he deep squat".. If you tell them an elite athlete's bodyweight is 160 lb, they will laugh and tell them to gomad, etc.. that's not everyone, but it's a large percentage from what i see.. "ATG" squatting, SVJ, GOMAD, & excessive bodyweight become some kind of cult ego booster to alot of those people. I respect people whatever their goals are, doesn't infringe on my training one bit so why would I care.. Rippetoe on the other hand seems to be pretty inflammatory, he allows some really weak replies through & somehow thinks they are funny, that's always a bad sign.. If someone is sticking up for me and acting like a complete a$$ in the process, i'd tell them to relax... lmao..

How do we reach everyone on site?

i can add a force-topic mod, which would make people have to read this topic once before they go on to viewing the forum.. it would only happen once then everything would be normal, could do it this month/july/august.. either that or mailing list, i like the force topic thing though, maybe ill set that up tonight.

i had this idea tonight.. google for parks inside this real rich area, like 20 minutes from me.. found 2 parks, one claims 5 basketball courts, looks like glass backboard/breakaway rim, other one seems similar...........  :wowthatwasnutswtf:

im trying to find more courts with breakaway rims, koz im tired of stiff rims wrecking my hands.. plus breakaway is much more fun.. i think i just found some really nice courts.. we'll see soon (tomorrow probably)..

Nicely done Adarq.

thanks man

Have you noticed that you twist a lot on some of your jumps? Do you think that's because of the rounded approach?

ya i have lots of rotation.. the rounded approach definitely exacerbates it, but even on other approaches, i always rotate into my plant.. should make spinning/360's/180's easier.

peace man

Yes but that LeBron thing was filmed from the floor (cameraman lying on the floor) while this was filmed from a trepied (from what I can tell) put on a chair or something. Roughly the same angle though.

I remember when I filmed Nightfly from ground level vs. from rim level. Incredible difference, it looked like a 8-10 inch difference or so. From the floor he looked heat at/over rim and from rim level he was ~6 inches under the rim.

well there's enough angles of werm/lebron to know they get head at rim level though..

ya during warmups my cam was on ~5' tripod, during contest it was like 4'... brought it down so it wouldnt block anyone's view.

I think Werm looked head over rim at a few dunks. Angle, but still...

well he jumps far out so there's always going to be cam angle with him, that said, he's EASY head on rim.. him and myree are legit head on rim on 10' hoops.

what were the scores..out of 16 people, what was your place?

rollaway rims always seem to be higher, I have on that rolls away and I measured it to be higher

dno like 5th lmao.. i missed final four just because i didn't land my round 2B dunk.. i would have been in final 4 if i would have landed one, i got all 8's on round 2A, which was a high score for that people who arent werm/airdogg etc.

And you are the same person that claims that the lebron jump is barely head at rim?

 :P

lebron is EZ head on rim also :F

ya id definitely be down for that.. i mean i could edit it.. id just need links to everyone's footage, on youtube or on sendspace.com etc.. then we'd be good, and we'd need to make a deadline.. perhaps september first? kind of like, an end of summer 'adarq.org training mix' from all of our members who have videos?

sounds good i mean people go hard in the summer..

what u think?
