Cannot wait to get to the track and try them out.

GF ball game last night. Bit of a let down actually. They were a decent team but one of their big guys (6'5/110kg) broke his finger last week and missed meaning they started with 5 and another of their guys strained his calf about 10 mins in. We had a full deck and put some pressure on them to go up by 25 with about 10 to go and then eased back.

Individually I played ok. Had 5 blocks which was nice. Had two potential dunk attempts which I was disappointed about though. Pretty much the first play of the game I blocked a guy who got the ball back, then I stole the ball and had the fast break. Felt fast and bouncy and just didn't commit to the dunk. Plenty of height but I wanted to make sure of the bucket. The other one was an lob with 2 seconds left in the game which was under thrown by my team mate. Another 2 feet on the pass and it would have been an easy back door dunk. I think it just speaks volumes about how much more jumping and dunking practice I need to get in.

All in all a good win albeit slightly disappointing given the opposition.

*Edit- before the game the rims were seriously low. about 8ft and I was being stupid doing all kinds of dunks on them which was actually great fun. Tried a windmill and hit my forearm against the rim and pretty much can't open my hand fully. Good times.

Im def on the clean eating wagon, this is my 3rd week and once i go past that 21 day mark, im usually on automatic. Haven't touched chocolate etc. Have cut out fast food. I eat clean, nutrition meals. I hate it though. I have to forcefeed myself chicken breast (yuk) every rest day even tho ive fasted say 18hrs, i dont find it appetising. I dont have a healthy relationship with food .. im either eating everythang (bad) or nothing but clean .. moderation seems like something alien. But i agree with with poliquin, you have to earn the right to eat carbs. Theres a scientific basis for it, (p-ratio insulin sensitivity etc) behind it. Im looking forward to getting close to 80.0 and just recomping with moderate carbs and protein. High protein sucks .. cant handle it long term, it kills my love for food, i guess that's the point tho lol

Ha. Yeah what is moderation??? That's something I'm working towards.

You seem to be doing all the right things so keep at it and I'll try to follow your example ;D

Things that kill performance are lowcarbs, fasting, basketball. Im willing to do away with the first 2 once ive got under a consistent 81kg.

From there basketball, i think i will switch to a 10 day cycle. Either play Tue or Thurs, but not both in the same week. That way im still maintaining some reg gameplay but not in a disruptive way to training. In fact im struggling to come up with any reason to even play competitive full court bball given my goals, the returns just aren't there and im solely playing to be a team player etc, but other ppl are happy citing injuries that might not even exist and missing games so i dont see why i am being so commited tbh. And tue night games are kind of shitty cos now im achoring the D and im still an 80kg guy playing against big strong white guys who grew up on a diet of steak and AFL and im just risking injury trying to compete on an unequal playing field. Plus ive mentuioned this before but the game here is very physical, which i dont give a fuck about right now cos id rather stay healthy than risk a rolled ankle or something..

^^^ this!

I am thinking the exact same thing. Looking to play ball every 2 weeks. Especially when you're expected to do all the dirty work under the rim.

Also, when you talk fasting are you talking about daily fasting (16-20 hours) or longer fasts (24+)? I usually fast for 16 hours daily but am trying to get my head around eating breakfast again.

Yeah, i was only going to play Tues but my mate convinced me to do Thurs cos he was looking to get back into playing and i thought i'd help him out. Lmao, he's never goiing to play a single game .. always makes excuses, so flaky. Im gna try to get out of Thurs, it's ok to play once a while, for social reasons but thats about the only thing. I also know that as summer ramps up it gets pretty hard to get games cos demand goes down and supply goes up .. so i dont wanna burn bridges. Last year going into the tournament i had almost no game time experience, so it's important to keep up relations that i can get reg games closer to the easter tournament.

I fast on rest days(4x) about 18-20hrs? usually have my first meal after 1600-1700. Active days(3x) i will fast less, eating around 1200-1300. Fasting sucks so much. I def think if i commit to 10 weeks of clean eating, i cud even eat breakfast and still get my goals of being a leanish strong 80kg. So fasting is overkill, as is lowcarbing etc. Lowcarb sucks so much for performance, it's a double killer in that you cant sleep so recovery goes down, and performance goes down because you feel sluggish etc. But i also know that for someone with my body (ie overfat), carbs are not good. When im leaner i'll handle carbs like a champ and i can just beast in the weightroom or court while eating carbs for fuel and recovery. If i do that now tho, it's just gna gonna end up making me fat ..

Yeah good point. There's heaps of games available where I am but I'm starting to feel like I play better/more athletically when I play every second week. Given that's what I'm trying to achieve it makes sense to do that. I have guys like that in my team too. A few guys went to the US for 6 weeks then got back and went to NZ for a few weeks and now 1 guy is in Japan and we have the GF tonight.

I think clean eating is the key. I'm a binge eater from way back and think the best way forward would be just eating cleanly and regularly. Pretty much like how people used to eat.
Lowcarb does suck and I have to admit I'm not good at it at all. I remember hearing a Poliquin quote though saying "you need to earn your carbs till you have dick skin on your stomach" (thickness that is, not actual dick skin- that'd just be weird). Seems kind of appropriate when you think about it.

Basketball / NBA 2016-2017 Season

Watching the SAS/GSW. Was looking forward to the excitement machine but there's something oddly satisfying about watching GSW getting pumped at home. 4th quarter and they're down by 28.

Also watched some of the CLE/NY game. I know it's the Knicks but Lebron is looking very good.

Damn. I was thinking you could probably hit 3 plates for a rep if you got the 122.5x7. 122.5x4 probably puts you around 135kg atm (better or worse depending how good you are at 1RM).

I know. It would have been nice. I probably had another two reps in me if I really struggled. Here's the video:

I did 130 for 2 last week so a single at 135 should happen this week and I'll try for a double again. 140 should be just around the corner.

One of my favourite in game dunking videos.

How much fun do you reckon these guys had playing together. It's almost it was like their own personal game of NBA Jam.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DLJ-IoyL8w

excellent mix.. damn!

ya man I miss them both in Miami, was so sick.. Still enjoying watching Lebron on CLE and will probably enjoy WADE on CHI .... though Wade to CHI should have never happened, heat fail++.

man wade loved those no-look lobs.. chemistry.

Yeah Pat Riley fail on that one.

The no look lobs, off the backboard. It pretty much reminds me of every kids dream game growing up.

Must have been drunk when I posted that last workout. Just saw I had it at 122.5 x 7. Should have been 122.5 x 4 (7 would have been great though). Have edited original post.

24/10/16 - 7pm
bw - 92.2

Squats-
bar x 10, 60 x 5, 90 x 3, 110 x 1
122.5 x 7 (b), 110 x 7, 6 (b)(miscounted again!!!- starting to think it's intentional sabotage)

Hip Thrusts-
Did not do. hips/lower back mildly hating me at this point.

Incline Bench-
bar x 10, 40 x 10, 10, 10

KB Row
16 x 10, 10, 10

Pallof Press-
Red band x 10, 10 (each side)

Squats felt really good. Props to Maxent and the other guys who are pushing his squat unbelted and guys like KF, Dreyth and Chris who have monster squats unbelted. I see 140 & 150 coming to me before Christmas at this rate which would be nice. Not sure if I care about belted vs unbelted enough for it to make a difference to me at this point.

Have been doing the shoulder rehab and did some benching tonight. Felt the shoulder but there was no pain. Just need to take this really slowly. It does shit me though as what little chest muscle I had is pretty much gone.

BW still to come down. After the weekend of eating and drinking I was pretty good today. Want it back under 91 before the start of November.

solid session! seems like a great post all around, especially considering the previous one (binge eating/drinking).

I definitely prefer unbelted, if dynamic sport improvement (athletics) is also a goal.

That squat set you posted on IG looked good, fast.

Stay focused and you'll get that 140-150 !!!

pc!

Thanks man. Eating and drinking is back on track now. I actually remember on Friday night a specific point where I gave myself permission to binge and it was a conscious decision. It's good for me to recognise these moments though so I can stop them from repeating in the future.

It felt good. Speed was surprising when I looked at the video.

With regards to the belt I'm going to push on with it for the moment but all my warm up sets are unbelted so I'm hoping by the time I get to 150 I'm still squatting 130-140 unbelted which won't be too bad.

Bios / Re: BEN COUSINS (AFL)
« on: October 23, 2016, 09:17:53 pm »
Ben Cousins has really spiralled down the wrong path since retirement. The only time you ever hear about him now is when he's getting arrested, which seems to be a yearly occurrence. The crystal pistol is frying his brain.

I would be surprised if he's still alive in 5 years time. Just cannot kick the habit. So sad.

Yeah he loves the shit. I remember watching his documentary that he made (it's available to watch on youtube) and his eyes lit up whenever he thought about ice. He looks a lot older now compared to just 5 years ago. He hasn't worked at all since he stopped playing AFL. I know he made literally millions in his day but his drug use has burnt a lot of bridges with regard to his post-football career and endorsements etc.

Yeah I watched it too when it was on tv. It was pretty frightening that look. Definitely the culture over there at the Eagles that did him in.
Also amazing that he could play the way he did with that kind of addiction.

Really shitty weekend of eating and drinking after a couple of really good weeks. Actually it was great to eat and drink so much but I feel like shit now. Goals for this week are to keep off the alcohol and limit/restrict the amount of refined sugar I take in. Bw this morning of 93 which I hope is mainly water but we'll see.
