Ye, they actually announced straight after the fight in the ring, official announcment, I knew it was going to happen but aj had to win, which was easy.
can't wait for aj, and it was only recently he stepped up to face world champions and beat them easily, now this is another step up to see if he is the real deal.
ye it was def good night of fights, some more then others.
terence crawford made molina look like a novice and just ineffective.
abner mares fight was good too I don't know how it was split decision. This was my favourite the night.
anthony joshua was fighting someone who just didn't want to fight. Anthony was supposed to fight klitschko and they agreed but wanted wba belt on the line, they got reply late so they decided to do voluntary before and aj won and now we get the fight, all aj's fight easy for him and klitschko maybe good opponent or, hopefully not, he may do the same thing as he did against tyson fury.
I didn't watch jermell charlo fight, had these 3 to watch before going to sleep.
Lomachenko is on another level.. complete domination. Blistering combos while changing angles & staying defensive, he is basically Pacquiao + Mayweather.
So sad that Walters quit like such a bitch.. He wasn't hurt, he just gave up.
As for Lomachenko's next opponent, they mentioned Pacquiao or Crawford.. Crawford is way too big.. Pacquiao is too big but if Pacquiao comes down to 137, then that could be a fight.
I guess i'd like to see Lomachenko vs Pacquiao .. but I don't think Lomachenko is ready for pac.. Especially not ready for Pac's power. I'd still want to see it though.
The difference between Pacquiao and Lomachenko is, Lomachenko neutralizes his opponents power (like Mayweather does) by making guys miss + having insanely slick defense.. Pacquiao just overpowers people with speed and power.. So the fact that Lomachenko is basically a combo of Pacquiao/Mayweather is some next level shit. Absolutely amazing to watch his skills.
This match was the best fighting the best, the power of walters against the slick boxer of lomachenko and well basically lomachenko made this match a one sided fight and took walters to school, if someone didnt know walters they would think this is a one sided fight to lomachenko.
Lomachenko has so much knowledge of boxing the skills and tactics, like the one where he mentioned of pulling their gloves down and hitting them, but also one I seen alot in this fight is he spins around them and then followed by combos, he is just awesome. Pacquiao is claimed to be best at 140, so 137 is not that far. They did mention lomachenko vs pac in 2017 but we'll see.
I dont understand also why walters he quit, he so bad in this fight alot of blocking and waiting too much that he missed alot of opportunities and some punches missed, just disappointed with walters. I always have loved lomachenko's charisma and confidence that he is confidence in trying different tactics and combos on walter a top name and also during the fight he was playing with walters lol, I think walkters quit cos he didn't want to lose a white wash decision and be beaten entire boxing match, but still a bad choice to quit mid way.
thanks for the recap! ya I didn't see it yet, though I looked up the result. Probably going to watch it on Saturday on HBO.
I heard it could have gone either way. I thought Kovalev was going to win a close decision. I figured Kovalev's activity over the years vs Ward's lack of activity, would give him an edge in a 12 round fight. Ward is just THAT GOOD. Really slick defensive fighters are hard to beat.
That Malignaggi video was good.
Yep it was that close, that if kovalev had won then I would have supported that decision just like andre ward won, I supported that decision, it was very close and what else would you expect from a 50-50 fight. I also kovalev was going to win and as the rounds progress andre was making a comeback after the knockout, but there was the occasional jabs from kovalev which made you think, damn he's taking the round back from ward. very close.
ye, i like the commentary of paulie and his expertise in boxing.
That is my biggest weakness in anything too, my mind always thinks ahead even from the start, so I just have to try and focus on now and let the things ahead come. Thinking ahead makes me tired quick.
Damn, awesome race man, finally some competition you ran with, were they faster then your previous comps or was it that just this race you were feeling slower then previous race, as you did feel tired a few days back.
How fast were the #1, #2 running was sub 17, 16 or 18.
How is there not a thread for this fight, it was such an awesome fight that it has to be done.
WOW Have you ever watched a technical sports and marvel at the technicality and mind tactics involved that you realzie that its not just a basic sport but their mentality to win puts it at another level, well this was the same. Both boxers fighting tough and using tactics and strategy that when I see this, I see that its not only just hitting the other person with the gloves using different punches, but they used position, feet placement, traps, feints and some other things that makes me realize that the amount of a mental game this is as it is a physical fight that separates the pros from the amatuers just like in chess you have tactics and then you have super mental strategies that is beyond your comprehension. I actually believe they both tried their 100% best both mentally and physically and they both had the right game plan, but kovalev probably a bit better as ward had occasions of being open and when he extends his hand that leaves him open for kovalev to come in and there were numerous times kovalev landed his jab to the head of ward or its beyond my comprehension.
So, kovalev started as the dynamic fighter, he had excellent reflex, he can counter and his jabs are tough, and the knockout in the second round, that showed his speed in getting to the punch first, kovalev was an excellent counter puncher, power puncher and good jabber but he lacked the body punch which andre ward drilled him with. Later on you could see ward not getting luck with distance and has to go in and rough him up and land the body punches, later andre wards punches were landing, there were the occasional power jabs from kovalev but andre ward was making his way back as kovalev tired and this is the excellence of ward, in his range and power and reflex and long term strategy. But they both were like bull fighting, especially when close, kovalev had the tendency to hold wards head down or wrap him up. As the rounds grew ward managing to make alot of shots to the head as well as kovalev having the occasional counter to the head.
When it came to the score cards, I had it close, I had a gut feeling they would give it to kovalev because of his counters and hard jabs but it was a close score for me, it could have been a draw but when andre ward won, I was happy for him to have won such a big fight, even though kovalev felt he won, which I would neither disagree or agree but felt that since it was so close it was up to the judges and they scored in favour of andreward, and the score card showed all three judges had it 114-113 to ward and gave last round to ward. I was amazed at unofficial score card that he was giving away rounds to kovalev.
But I still feel this was one of the best technical, power boxing match and they both really deserved to be the top of the game.
I had 2 sessions didnt have time to log it, but both involved raining, the heavy intensity little raining but the one I had yesterday, full on shower, so annoying.
But am confident that I got some sub 4 second 30m sprints but not official as I took 1 week off.
good luck with the turkey run, im also looking forward to how you do when the sub 17 runners come, like a boxing match when 2 good people fight each other, then the real contest starts. good luck and also congrats on the previous race.
damn, lol I saw the fight and that part of the picture, man he was knocking him out with his shots, teach him a lesson. when you say something you must back it up in the ring. connor knew he didn't have to reply to his low comments. yet he still unapologetic.
