That is a good point... but I think where he's getting at is the lower ceiling for progression in the BSS.

On the other hand, you could say the same about the squat vs. the leg press.

Well... just try your best to limit that. Try to land a bit softer and with less noise, that will keep you from having these "stiff bounces".

Just make sure you land safely, first and foremost.

It really looks like that... I think they're pretty much equal or whatever. I guess it was a matter of compensating from not a "perfect" run-up

I feel what you're saying but com'on... you're smarter than this.

It's great that you have a new thing going on, but it doesn't mean it has to totally control your life and transform you into this unhealthy nerd or whatever.

You can still train and do stuff. You can and you should afford say 1 hour per day to do athletic stuff and pay more attention to your nutrition etc.
