« on: August 01, 2011, 06:14:02 pm »
Hey

FInally glad to be back onto a vertical jump forum. Just Finished UNI also finished my Posterior Activation Training and will test how much i have gained.

My Goal is to Run 100m in 10s i.e. 10.1-10.6 mark before next year and to have a standing jump of 32 and running jump of 36+.

I can Squat 1.15 x BW as the final 8 week workout i did was the first time i did any heavy lifting.

I hope to contribute as well as get some helpful tips for my training.

Thanks

sup man welcome, what are your current stats? 10.1-10.6 is FLYING.

Basketball / Re: Why does my layup look like crap...
« on: August 01, 2011, 05:57:13 pm »
lots of people on here are better qualified than i am to offer advice, so all i'll say is, why are you taking all your layups with the same leg/arm combination? shouldn't the ones from the left be off the right leg and with the left hand? even i can make layups off both feet and with both hands and i suck at basketball.

^^ learn to use your left hand/ right leg on the left side, right hand/left leg on the left side.  Also, being that youre a two leg jumper, practice jumping off both as well.

the right/left layup he did on the left/right side seems to work for me so i can skoop under guys arms and get a foul. sorry off topic

Its fine to do reverses and all sorts of variations to the basics.  If you cant ACTUALLY DO THE BASICS though, its a good idea to learn them.  Jumping off the right leg and using the left hand and jumping off the left leg and using the right hand are basic skills, that keep the defense further away from the ball.  There is a reason that every basketball coach in the world teaches these skills to players at a very young age.

How do you not see bolt on all fours that whole race, EXACTLY like the cheetah and horse in those clips? its plain as day blu.

+1 lol.  ;D

You don't have to get on all fours though.

Humans have the ability to decompress there spines too.

Obviously your not looking out for the same amount of spinal decompression as the cheetah.

It's far less in humans.

A good example of spinal decompression, Asafa at 1:22.

Bolt's is even more evident as his spine is more flexible, but you need to slow down the video's to the right speed & get the right angle.

can please provide screenshots blu?

can any one give me some suggestion on how to change my form?

just looks slow.. work on improving speed, taking a quick last step before you plant your jump leg.. accelerate the layup.

One bilateral jump takes about 10 times the effort I need to jump off one leg. Totally ineffective, in terms of everything else than force (slower speeds, worse leverages, harder on joints (yes, the one leg jump is smooth and without that much joint shock, in the bilateral jump there's a HUGE perpendicular to the ground (more or less) BRUTAL SHOCK in a successful DLVJ), more effort needed and so on and so forth).

You people need to start bouncing around instead of walking and running if two footed stuff is such a good and efficient movement.

stop trying to act like sickenin vendetta.

what you just said is stupid, let's please stop comparing humans to cheetahs and horses.

the amount of time and force you can produce during a single leg SVJ is much worse than with two legs.. the human body works the way it does because it's fucking meant too.

sickenin vendetta is making this forum fucking retarded with his horseshit, no pun intended.
