So I played in a volleyball league this last season for the first time ever playing. I notice one of my friend girlfriends is playing on a team on the womens side of the gym. I was talking to her and found out one of the girls on her team is about 6'3" and dunked in a basketball game in highschool. No video unfortunately, but as high as she was jumping during her volleyball game I can believe it. Girl was a freak athlete!

I wish there was a sarcasm font on the forum. So many guys that know a lot about training being sarcastic to a lot of guys that don't know training. Hard to tell when they're serious or not. Haha. BTW, I'm obviously one of the guys that doesn't know a lot about training.

So you think she's a child? She seems "mature enough" to me. I don't think chronological age is THAT important. It's what's behind the carcass that's important. Whatever, getting into philosophy again.

Now the Knicks could be pretty decent if they learn how to guard a pick and roll. I'd say they're okay offensively.

It's pretty cool that they threw Carmelo Anthony in that Chauncy Billups trade. Dunno how they pulled that off.

His combination of outside shooting and rebounding has -never- been seen in the NBA. He's a skilled, gifted talent for sure.

Great show. Sucks that Andy Whitfield won't be returning for S2 of Blood and Sand due to his disease, but the replacement guy looks similar and hopefully can pull it off. Still looks like a great show either way, plus I'm sure they'll bring back Gannicus for S2.

The average NFL kicker makes almost $900,000 a year, according to Sports Illustrated.

GO GET IT.

Haha, I'd be happy with 1/9th of that! Once the weather here get a little warmer and dryer I'll do some kicking videos.

You seem kind of big for a kicker.

I seem kinda big for a human according to a lot of people. Haha.

But honestly, I don't know if a coach would mind as long as I put the ball threw the uprights.

Edit:

See if this video works:

In the video, you can see the ball bounce off the back of the upright, thus our excitement. I made it a few more times, but this was the only one we got on film before my phone battery died.

My hand are 8". What are some ways to increase your hand strength. And I don't think my hands are too small (they maybe) but just weak.

Here's a whole thread we've got dedicated to the subject: http://www.adarq.org/forum/strength-power-reactivity-speed-discussion/basketball-palming/

Hope that helps!

Football / Field Goal Kicking
« on: February 16, 2011, 09:41:20 am »
Okay, so I've been wondering. How do you think FG kickers train? I never played football, but I was curious how hard it would be to kick a fieldgoal and maybe get good enough to walk on a team somewhere. So I went out and tried to kick some field goals and did pretty well. I managed, on two separate occasions, to kick 50+ yards consistently. One time, I did it barefoot and kicked a 50yard (I have video proof) and the other time I made it to 53yardsn (no video, and with shoes on). I was able to make most of my kicks from 10-53 pretty consistently. So, this is without any real practice/training. How hard do you think it would be to make a team somewhere? I used the 3-step approach type thing I see a lot of kickers use, and of course, there were no linemen trying to block my kick. But I got great height on the kicks and great distance.

Kinda just curious if anyone knows much about it. I'll try to post that video later after work.
