Article & Video Discussion / Re: Interesting Thoughts

i think that is the single longest post i've ever seen in all my years online (since late 80's) .  read through a few paragraphs of it but i'll have to come back to the rest later.  looks like lot of good stuff.  thanks for sharing.  :)

oh gawd.  some of these crossfit sessions look so silly.

thanks for the tips adarq.  how frequent should i do these?  how much volume per session?  start fresh so right after i fully warm up with dynamic stretching on gym sessions?  i suppose it'll be ok to do them before bball too right?  thanks!!

also, will it matter much to do them with shoes or not?  i'm leaving for China and Philippines in 2 days.  might not have access to gym at times and i'm thinking about try to get a bit of jumping in instead.  base on my previous China trip experience, most hotels do not have gym at all!

Nutrition & Supplementation / canned eel?
« on: November 16, 2010, 09:08:06 am »
not sure if you guys can get this easily at normal places but in Taiwan and in Asian markets in USA you should be able to find these...

canned eel, usually roasted but there are 2-3 other flavors, usually 100grams per can
ingredients: sea eel, refined sucrose, brewed soy sauce, chili paste, maltose, bbq sauce, sea salt, condiments
no artificial flavoring/coloring, no msg, no preservatives

239 kcal
21.8 g protein
11.4 g total fat
2.3 g saturated fat
0.0 g trans fat
10.0 g carbohydate
810.5 mg sodium

other than slightly high sodium (not really a problem for us i think) do you guys think it's pretty healthy?!  cost is slightly under $1 a can.  they're quite tasty too!  i love them.

personally i feel i ought to be able to notably improve my RVJ just by practicing jumping more.  time to do a lot tuck jumps, depth jumps and single leg jumps and side hops.  :-)  jumping is one area i don't utilize that much because i have all sorts of tricks in my bag to create shots for myself...  time to focus more on jumping though!

158
SVJ I can touch a 10' rim now.  So I think I'm at 29.5".  My RVJ is only about 3" better at most.  Does that mean I have decent strength base and that I need to work on my jumping techniques more?

yah.  apparently the get taller surgery started in Russian (hmm?  average Russian are tall I'd say) but quite a bit of Chinese opted to get surgery.  apparently some 3000's people have tried the surgery but the success rate is low.  i remember watching a documentary on a China dude and he absolutely couldn't get a wife because he was shorter than 5'.  so he went through the pain and expense to do it and he got himself a wife eventually.

the first time i saw this procedure was actually in the movie Gattaca...  where Vincent needed to increase his height to match Jerome.  one of my favorite sci-fi's of all time.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: junk food diet that works

crazy, at 5 11 190 u were 30% body fat  uhh thats my BW now and im not close to 30%, i hope.  Different body types i guess.

i don't have a lot of muscles so yah it was a lot of fat.  i've never gained muscles easily...  we'll see how this whey isolate will help me.  just received it today and tried it.  taste is decent when mixed with some chocolate powder.

adarq: I ate lot of wendy's dollar menu then.  nuggets + fries + salad...  i hope their nuggets were not those nasty looking pink paste used in McD's nuggets.  the texture of wendy's seems like decent chicken meat at least.  but i'm afraid to know what it really is...

aww crap, turns out that was an April 1st 2008 joke.  bastards...

maybe i should just surgically get 6" longer arms and magically dunk.  :-)  thousands have tried the get taller surgery (painful and low success rate).  i wonder if someone ever tried to get longer arms.   ;)

i wonder if this was in fact true...  FRENCH President Nicolas Sarkozy is to have pioneering stretch surgery in a bid to make him taller.  The Sun is UK's trash paper though...

heh.  a friend on facebook linked that.  you gotta have so much discipline to eat so little junk food though...  that's way too much temptation to have around at the house.

i dno, most americans can eat like that easily... you underestimate the unhealthyness of the USA. :)

uhh, experienced it first hand.  i was at 190lbs (2007-8) thanks to all the cheap and easily available junk food at the super market and fast food places.  the system definitely works against you.  i remember reading about (poorer) families eating dollar menu because it is cheap and convenient.  at least in taiwan (and most asian countries) one you can decently healthy cheap fast foods.
