I know Cavs role players take a lot of shit but honestly I sympathize with them. Just the makeup of the team isn't ideal to inspire anyone to step up, all the credit and direction is Lebron inspired. No one seems to have any creative license to play their game. If they do well, they finally did their part and when they don't do well it's just another case of Lebron having to carry the load and be the hero. Dead serious, I would hate to play on a team like that and would rather go on a long vacation than sacrifice everything for Lebron to take all the credit anyway then lose in max 5 to GS right after.

I'd much rather see the Celtics and their team inspired play. I think Celtics v GS could be fun. If not for any reason but to see what Brad Stevens can draw up. Also, Tatum is going to be a superstar. But honestly GS too good and efficient for anyone to play. I'm still mad at Durant for killing competition like he did.

Chances looking very good for med men. I played well, racking up some goals, a few D's and no turnovers playing maybe 20 total points over 2 games. Probably the highest amount of deep shots were thrown to me on the team. Some not great drops from not getting enough touches. Also lacking that bounce, heavy rain cleats make me feel like I'm barely getting off the ground on jumps. However because of my mix of explosiveness, height and athleticism I'm still well above the average tryout skillcap.

If I do this correctly, I will be a monster at the end of the season.

EDIT: apparently, out of the ~30 players at this tryout tourney playing for med men, 7 are on the DC Breeze 2018 roster, the local pro team  :o

Thank you for your activism Merrick. I knew I'd take the path toward not eating meat and started by removing beef and pork from my diet a year or so ago. I'm now trying to push it further by removing other meat products or at least limiting them.

I'm not sure I'll ever go full vegan, eggs and cheese feel like they're engrained into my identity (culture and tradition) but I'll do by best to limit doing harm.  :strong:

My friends and I are all big sixers fans and I think they've hyped him up so much that I had to sort of take an opposing side but honestly I'm not a fan of his superstar potential. I do think he'll be a positive impact player and all star because of his can't miss size, athleticism, and passing ability. Personally I just think the pg should have an alpha like mentality and really be able to dictate a games' tempo and while he's competitive and still rookie, I don't know that'll he be elite in those areas. Maybe its just the recent memory of MCW creating a bias but I'm still not sold on that type of pg but obviously Simmons is bigger, more athletic and more talented.

Also, I'm not sure he'll be able to develop a shot at any point, maybe a running push shot like Brook Lopez perfected with the Nets would expand his game and seems more possible. It definitely makes it hard for him to be effective in the 4th quarter and recently they just go to embiid when defenses lock down.

thanks alot man! ya I was surprised by it, especially since I took a bunch of days off, but multiple sessions per day on training days really gets the mileage up, much easier than one huge session per day, IMHO. For example, 2 x 1.5 hr is so easy compared to 1 x 3 hr. Love 2x/day :D

ya a bunch of those at the top of the list, did "weird stuff" like that. I believe it tbh, people are nuts. I mean it does sound somewhat fun. Much of the time, these people are running at like, fast walking pace for fit people, so it's a little weird from that perspective. I mean I saw lots of 14-15 minute miles etc. All good though, still crazy. If they cheat and do it just to draw attention to themselves, they suck. If they do cheat, I think they'd get called out on it, tons of people on strava actually end up running with them (I think), by tagging along. But I guess you'd have to do some extra searching to see if someone is calling them out for hopping on a bike or getting into a car etc.. hehe.

Yea I believe the SF to NYC runner story. I ran into an Austrian guy who was 50+ and had cycled all the way from the pacific to the east coast. He was around 6ft tall but had to weigh near 100lb and was as tan as could be. Also did the NJ section of the app trail and ran into a thru hiker who averaged 25+ miles a day for weeks on carrying a backpack.

US out of World Cup wtffff... Iceland qualified in an arguably harder group with a population of 300k and players who were raised playing indoor from youth. Coached by part timers etc.

Damn FP that blows man. I can deeply sympathize with injuries sucking. I'm not sure if this would've made a difference but that workout with the plyos the day before seems too close to the date of competition. It's low volume but anything like depth jumps should be kept 7-10 days out from the day of competition. Hope you get it looked at and recover quickly bro.

Nice man! Maybe it was better you didn't have much competition given the weather conditions and not having any races in you. I know they had the Scranton marathon yesterday and it was wet, super humid and close to 80 degrees. So many people didn't finish or had to receive medical treatment even the top ranked woman didn't finish. The Kenyan who finished in 1st said it was one of the worst races he's ever ran. I think it's mostly the humidity, extremely draining and makes it difficult to breathe even when you're walking around. Can't imagine running distance in that sort of weather.

That's some major weight loss in 6 hours for sure. Sometimes, and I don't know if this was the case with you, I feel like the anxiety before competitions makes our bodies work harder and possibly burn more energy/ hold less water. Maybe and more probable that's some major bro- science on my part lol.

Major lolz, man she's 6yo or so??? Just enjoy your time with her and try and have her build a love of running. Down the road, if she's into it you can involve her with clubs and give additional instructions and so forth.

With travel soccer, 8yo is the earliest I've seen players really have the body awareness to take some instruction with the ability to retain it. 9 and 10yo you start to see it more and more and some of the better athletes will develop clean running mechanics (limited wasted motion). By 11 & 12 yo, most of the athletes I've seen training for 2-3 years will have developed pretty good body awareness and descent running mechanics.

But yea man my advice would be to really enjoy your time with her now. I've seen so many parents get worked up and yell at their kids at an age where they still have limited control of what they're doing that it's crazy. Not that it's really acceptable at any age. If she really enjoys running and wants to be competitive I'd say 9-10 is probably the age to join a club

Sorry for not contributing much I'm a journal stalker I read a lot of journals but rarely comment. What I will say though is you have a great strength foundation. You admit yourself you have excess bodyfat so theoretically you should be able to gain strength whilst cutting and at the very least maintain it. With your strength levels and a low bodyfat (<12%) you'll be flying. Fuck age it's just a number. With your training background your age is actually a lot lower than your current biologic age. Keep consistent and keep achieving  :headbang:

Thanks!  :highfive:   I do have somewhat of a dopamine/serotonin depletion because I used to live an unhealthy lifestyle/habits like smoking partying etc. As you know dopamin/serotonin levels is crucial to one's motivation, cognitive functions, energy etc. I think my dompamine levels should go back to normal over time, and that is a great plus to look forward to.

I actually read a good paragraph or so on this but I can't find it currently. Basically it said not to look for motivation but to create habits (takes time) that you'll live by even when you're feeling not so motivated. This will help with training and lifestyle.

Seems like you've done a lot for yourself so far. And of course you can continue to really improve your mental health by focusing on fitness, good sleep, diet, healthy social life, and working with a purpose. Keep it up man!

My take on the fight was far different and I went in thinking it was just a theatrical fight. I now remember the McGregor thread adarq opened showing and discussing his attention to movements, detail, and body awareness. I had forgotten all about that but will say that the fight renewed my intrigue with McGregor and I definitely came in more passive if not pessimistic about the fight.

I was actually inspired by McGregor's effort and confidence. I think his mental strength is outstanding in that he believed he could win until the very end. That along with his detailed training inspired me more than anything. If anything, the Victor Ortiz fight was truly a farce, much more than this one. I thought that was a boxer who went in for the payday and mentally just imploded or maybe just gave in not thinking he could win. To this day I still don't know what happened there.

McGregor just posted a recap of the fight on instagram and I just think it shows he's actually an athlete. You can tell he's been thinking about why he couldn't last 12 rounds "under stress" which is the first thing that came to mind for me.

"Just coming back around after a whirlwind couple of days. Thank you to all the fans for the support of the fight and the event! Without your support we as fighters are nothing so I thank you all! Thank you to my team of coaches and training partners! I had an amazing team and It truly was an amazing and enjoyable camp, and honestly I feel with just a little change in certain areas of the prep, we could have built the engine for 12 full rounds under stress, and got the better result on the night. Getting to 12 rounds alone in practice was always the challenge in this camp. We started slowly getting to the 12 and decreasing the stress in the rounds the closer it got to 12. I think for the time we had, 10 weeks in camp, it had to be done this way. If I began with a loaded 12 rounds under much stress I would have only hit a brick wall and lost progress as a result and potentially not made the fight. A little more time and we could have made the 12 cleanly, while under more stress, and made it thru the later rounds in the actual fight. I feel every decision we made at each given time was the correct decision, and I am proud of everyone of my team for what we done in the short time that we done it. 30 minutes was the longest I have fought in a ring or cage or anywhere. Surpassing my previous time of 25 minutes. I am happy for the experience and happy to take all these great lessons with me and implement them into my camp going forward. Another day another lesson! Congrats to Floyd on a well fought match. Very experienced and methodical in his work. I wish him well in retirement. He is a heck of a boxer. His experience, his patience and his endurance won him this fight hands down. I always told him he was not a fighter but a boxer. But sharing the ring with him he is certainly a solid fighter. Strong in the clinch. Great understanding of frames and head position. He has some very strong tools he could bring into an MMA game for sure. Here is a toast of whiskey to everyone involved in this event and everyone who enjoyed it! Thank you to you all! Onto the next one! "

Really happy to have watched that. Connor is a beast for competing the way he did. He's really a special athlete and his mental strength and belief in self is case study worthy. Can't believe he took a situation that most people laughed at and competed better than most pro boxers who I've seen go up against mayweather

definitely .. though, Floyd vs elite pros is a different Floyd. Floyd never fights in the style he fought tonight .. He was confident he could use a style like that and make it more entertaining for the fans, but not take any real punishment.

same .. Conor competed harder than I thought he would. I thought he'd compete hard early on but crumbled by round 4 or so .. He didn't crumble until like round 8.. And even then, he held on.

Why do you think Conor tired the way he did even with all the preparation though? Is it just that no training/ sparring can compare to the energy you consume with the adrenaline of a real fight? I'm not sure how his trainers wouldn't be able plan his training to make him able to last through fight.
