the james justice and westbrook ones are amazing from a plant standpoint, esp. westbrook. he looks like he's just taking an ordinary running step and then he takes off. makes me think about my ugly plant.

I think alot of it has to do with him weighing 185lbs at 6'3-4"

yeah man, obviously, but its like .5lbs muscle/9.5lbs of fat vs 0lbs muscle/10 lbs of fat. Either way the muscle:fat tradeoff is not worth it and you've really just set yourself a 3-4 weeks back if your goal is to jump higher

not even close, it's not possible for your body to synthesize 1-2lbs of contractile tissue in 1 week, hell it would be difficult to do that in 1 month

So does that mean if I lose this 10 lb of fat/water (which would be very easy) then I will have lost contractile tissue?

No, you won't lose any contractile tissue (muscle) because you didn't gain any contractile tissue (muscle) to begin with. All you've done is pig out for a week and made yourself have to lose even more fat when you cut. Muscle is a living structure that can stretch and shorten, fat is just excess energy (calories) stored in your body. Thats why you don't see bodybuilders trying to gain 50lbs in one month, they gain 50lbs over 6-8 months, then spend next 4-6 months shedding the 40lbs of fat they gained with 10lbs of muscle. Making muscle takes time, lots of time, especially when you are natural.

why are you bragging about adding 10lbs of fat/water in 1 week, you definitely didn't even gain .5 lbs of muscle..

So his running vertical jump is around 55 inches i think don't know his reach but approximated around 90 inch.

your approximate reach is retarded, his reach is at least a foot higher

well, you gotta try to copy their technique as best as possible. first thing i would suggest is not do such a straight line approach to the rim, use a more curved path, kinda like high jumpers use in track. All the best two foot jumpers use this arc approach. As far as the actual runup, you've got to start out with a short step, then take longer and longer steps until you plant. with your current technique your feet are nearly underneath you on each step, they need to be in front of you some and force you to lean forward with your torso more, putting your glutes and hams in a more advantageous stretched position. To begin, start by practicing the approach beginning a step or two inside the 3-point line and as you get used to it you can increase the distance, allowing you to use more speed and power in your approach.

All of this is applied to a 1-2 take-off, not a jump stop like justin darlington. I know that's how you currently jump but I really don't think it's optimal for most people, it works for him bc he's 6'4 160 with bungee cords for calves/achilles

yeah, your run-up is waaayy too slow, stiff, and upright. If you're jumping 34 with that technique, you could definitely be at 40+ with a proper run-up. Watch porter mayberry and zack jones

It's a matter of self control and awareness when using them, that's all.

Exactly

Oh, I'm not encouraging you to partake in either of them, I'm simply saying there is a big difference between having a few drinks or hits and having a good time from the effects versus sleeping in your vomit. I also think it's retarded that weed is illegal while alcohol isn't, but that should change within the next couple of decades.
