Incoming rant ... australia is a nanny state, let me give the example of driving in australia. Our freeways are nice and modern, beautiful wide, flawless roads and yet the speed limits are a hard (and harshly enforced) 100 km/hr. That's about 63 miles/hr. Imagine driving in LA on awful, bumpy, chaotic freeways where everyone is going anywhere from 75 to 85 miles/hr when the speed limit is 75, depending on the conditions of the road and the flow of traffic. In australia, it cud be a clear bright day with great visilbility and you'll have artificial traffic waves of cars bunched up closely together, cos everyone is driving at a ridiculous 60 miles/hr .. and the conditions cud easily allow a safer speed of say 110-120 km/h. Oh you want to temporarily go to 110km/hr to overtake that huge SUV so you can see the road better? Bang 200 dollar fine. Fuck everything about this stupid nanny state.

Only $200? Try living in South Australia where you get fined $500 for low range speeding! SA has the lowest incomes in mainland Australia, yet we have the highest fines for traffic offences. The police here should change their name to Revenue SA because they are trying to raise revenue for our broke ass state. I almost got done speeding tonight. I was on the highway where the speed limit is 100. I was cruising along at 105-110 and there was a cop hiding under a bridge with his car parked in the emergency lane and holding a laser gun. Scared the shit out of me and I braked straight away. I was looking back in the rear view but the cop didn't put his sirens on and I didn't see a flash so  I'm assuming nothing will come of it.

Had another long day at work today. 12 hours just sitting down desk bound. I like the office life so I'm not complaining, but flexibility wise it can't be doing my body any good. I did squats today and my hips felt tight as fuck and my body was feeling even more inflexible than usual.

Just another quick session today:

Front Squat-
60x3
80x3
95x1
107.5x1 this was a struggle. was tempted to drop the weight but I fought and managed to make it.

Squat-
60x8
65x8x3

I had a 14 hour day at work today and went to the pub for a meal straight after. I went to the gym but was feeling lazy and bloated so just did a bench workout.

Bench-
barx12
60x8
80x5
100x3
110x1
115x1 felt strong. no spotter.
110x2x2 in a couple of weeks I'll try for 110x3x2.
80x12

Almost into PR territory on the bench. My PR is 120kg weighing around 80kg so obviously power to weight ratio is a lot weaker now than it was previously, but I'm getting back up there poundage wise. If I still had the same power to weight ratio at my current weight I'd be benching 135kg, which isn't far off 3 plates. I've deadlifted 5 plates before, but to me benching 3 plates would be a greater achievement.

Just had a rest day today.
My groins were feeling very tight from the sprints yesterday.

ah so you went hard on those 4x100m's? I figured it would be from the 3 hours of basketball, but I read that yesterday as "jogged 4x100m", oops.

Yeah I jogged a couple of laps but with the 4x100m I did them with max effort.

The depth of US basketball is phenomenal. The only thing the US might lack is a bit of chemistry compared to other teams, but talent wise I can't see any country coming close. Even teams like China that train and prepare months in advance for the Olympics tend to struggle- I watched the latest 3 game series of Australia's B team against China and China were very disappointing. Fundamentally they are solid, accurate shooters, disciplined etc. but as soon as Australia started applying full court pressure and hustling their guards they fell apart with turnovers etc. I do expect China to improve a lot between now and the Olympics though but if any team other than the US were to win it'd be a European team like Spain, Lithuania or Serbia. Australia has quite a few NBA players but they are all bench/role players and similar to the US they'll be lacking chemistry with nowhere near the same amount of talent.

I'm looking forward to the track and field (mainly just the sprints). The basketball should be good to watch as well. USA will win but it's always good to see other countries play. Hopefully the Australian team can sneak in for a medal.

It'll be interesting to see how many minutes Love plays in the next game. The Cavs looked better without him :o

I'm at work right now so I can't watch the game but I'm stoked that Cavs are winning. Hopefully they can get a big win and gain some confidence.
