That stadium looks heaps cool and the gym equipment looked impressive as well.

Was that the USC football team training on the field when you guys were doing the 400m?

Yeah that's the USC summer practice.  They are resurfacing their practice field so now they on the track which is annoying...  But you gotta share equipment on some level...

SC has decent equipment, but usually train people their just cause it's convenient to have a track, turf, gym and bball court all within a minute walk.  Acoles was shocked that our bball gym has 3 full courts and they were all empty lol.

Looks world class compared to what I have in my city. We have 1 track for a city of 1.2 million people. All the other 'tracks' are grass tracks and there's not even that many of them around. In terms of stadiums that have 3 basketball courts we have 4 of them, but they are all geographically spread apart. To have all of those facilities in one location would be a dream.

Acole is from Melbourne so they have better facilities, but I can see why he would be shocked.

Man that video is depressing... PH had so much potential... But hasn't been able to get along with his teammates well enough to do well in the NFL.  Could be such a true offensive weapon, return game, receiver, running the reverse, split end, just everything...  I always feel like the guys with the burst speed who look semi-fast but don't have the top-speed track gait always make the best football players...  It's like if you can run fast without knowing how to run and without having learned to maximize stride length... Then you just can't be tackled and you can adjust so many more times...

Definitely. Even the guys who look semi-fast in the NFL are absolutely flying and probably running high 10s at worst. A player with explosiveness, agility, and lateral speed will always be better than a player with good acceleration and great top speed.

Potential future football star. He's obviously got a lot of explosiveness based on his 100m times in comparison to his 200m times.

Mate how much do the skinny comments kill you. I'm the same. Lost 3-4kgs and people start commenting. Only problem is to look huge in clothing I need to be 100+  no one has ever called me huge before and I've been as high as 98

From 18-13% bodyfat when you cut you just look smaller especially in clothes. I've had the same thing happen to me. When I'm losing weight people say I look smaller :(

sucks about your lat. unsolicited suggestion for your week off: do some bw lower body stuff at home just to keep limber and minimally active. pistols, shrimp squats, bridges/hip thrusts, BSS, kickbacks, etc.

Do you think I should still do squats?
Lower body wise I'm fine.

The pain feels a bit better today. Last night I could barely lift my right arm and it hurt to steer the driving wheel. Today driving felt fine and I've got slightly more ROM when raising my right arm.

I injured my right lat.

It was feeling sore after benching last week and it was feeling sore for a few days. On Monday I couldn't do pull ups because I was getting pain in it so I did chin ups instead, which had less effect on it. On Tuesday I did bench again and did chin ups and it was feeling fine. I had a rest day yesterday but the right side of my chest was feeling sore today, but the weather has been cold and wet everyday so I haven't been able to do any running so I wanted to go to the gym since I couldn't go outside and do any exercise. Started doing deadlifts today and my right lat was just really painfull. I think I've strained it so I'm just going to have a week off the gym. I hate winter.

Sally Pearson (Womens 100m Hurdle) has withdrawn from the Olympics as she has suffered a torn hamstring in training. I watched an interview on the news and she said that she was feeling no pain or niggles and the hamstring hadn't even been on her radar as being an issue. She had the best training block since her injury in Rome 2015 so obviously she's disappointed about it. Her aim now is the 2018 Commonwealth Games before retirement.

In other Womens Hurdles news I think Lolo Jones is another omission. I saw an article on facebook saying she hasn't raced since February and probably won't attend the US trials.

The US & Jamaican trials are going to be intense for track!

That's sad to hear about your little brother. As a brother you're doing everything you can by continuing to be supportive and being there for him as he fights his demons.

26/06/16 5pm

Trained with my mate last night so just did whatever.

RDL - bar x 10, 60 x 10
Deadlift- 80 x 5, 100 x 5, 120 x 5, 130 x 5
(last set was belted - lower back felt somewhat dodgy after 120 set. Threw the belt on and the 130 set was hard but not sure I got much from belt anyway)

Got talking to my cousin who was training at the same time so spent about 25 mins standing around. We had just watched him do box squats for sets of 4 at 180kg. It's his deload week too  :o after maxing out at 220 for 5x5 last week. He is about 115-120 at the moment though but strong as fuck. He's a bodybuilder but trains for strength too. First time I've ever actually seen him lift. We catch up pretty often but never in the gym.

Chins-
bw x 5, 5, 5

Tyre Flip (don't know weight of tyre but it was tractor sized)
4 x 5 flips each

EZ bar curls-
25kg x 10, 10, 10

Felt pretty good afterwards. Forearms are feeling it from the tyre flips. First time ever doing these but they felt pretty good.

Your cousin sounds like a beast.
It would've been really cool/motivational seeing those lifts done in person.

Yeah he didn't know I was there at that point. We were standing about 10m away just in awe. He's a legit big dude though so seeing him do any lifting is great. He uses 70s for db bench which just blows my mind. Super nice guy though and was really helpful to my mate (who has lost 30+kgs recently) with some information on training.

That's nuts!
The heaviest db's at my gym are 50s (110lbs) and I barely see anyone using the 40s section let alone the 50s.
