Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: THE DREAM JOURNAL
« on: July 22, 2016, 09:27:17 pm »
I had a dream where I sent an important work email to my managers and a whole bunch of colleagues, which ended up being porn attached. I had this other dream last night where I was catching up with old friends and they all got arrested...reminds me why I don't go out much at all these days.

Yeah there's a lot of injuries going around at the moment. I guess when you've got a life like everybody on here does it's hard to eat, train, and sleep optimally, let alone get massages/physio/restoratives for any injuries/niggles as professional and even semi-professional (depending on the sport) athletes do.

Thankfully my cold seems to have gone away and my lats are getting better. I just need to resist my natural urges of trying to push myself back into training too fast even though the volume I was doing prior to my injury was still 'under training' because I haven't been able to build up a volume/work base. Once you've built up the work base your body adapts and is able to handle the volume and intensity without getting injured, but in order to get to that stage that's when the body often breaks down along the way as it tries to resist.

Bodyweight- ?
I'm feeling like a fat slob atm so I didn't want to step on the scale. My waist has gone back to 38 inches (it was 37 a couple of weeks ago before I got injured/sick).

Squat-
60x8
80x7
87.5x7x3

Assisted Pull Ups-
5x2

I've still got this cold/cough. The last couple of weeks have been really frustrating. Now out of nowhere I've suddenly got a sore chest on the left side of my body. I've got no idea how I strained it as I've done fuck all lately. I tried doing pull ups at the gym last time, but my upper body wasn't feeling right. I feel like I have the body of a 50 year old :(

Nice job with the track work! I hate running 300s they are absolute death. It's really hard because with 200m you can just try and run as fast as you can the whole way if your fitness is good enough. With the 300m you've got to really plan it. I try and run the first 100m at 90% and then maintain the pace around the bend and try and accelerate again coming into the straight. Of course when you're actually running it's a lot harder to do that since you get to the straight and the last thing your body wants to do is accelerate. The only good thing about the longer distances is that it's easier to improve the times just from improving fitness.

Back injuries? I wonder if they're a result of his very pronounced anterior pelvic tilt.

WTF, is MJ reading us? Crazy timing, this came out yesterday:

https://www.yahoo.com/tv/olympic-legend-michael-johnson-guarantees-he-would-190358226.html

Quote
When asked, if he were given the chance to turn back the clock, who would win in a race between himself and Bolt, Johnson replied, “I win every day. Every time we line up, I win. Guaranteed.”

That's a lot of confidence. 400m wise no question he would beat Bolt every day of the week. When it comes to the 200m I could see Johnson regularly beating Bolt in the Diamond League, but in World Champs and Olympics when Bolt rises to the occasion nobody can beat him. It's just a shame that injuries have prevented Bolt reaching his full potential. That sounds absolutely crazy to say, but he hasn't beaten his PRs since 2009 because of back injuries. If MJ had the same amount of talent that Bolt had I think he would've ran a sub 19 200m.

Skips-
500

Squat-

60x8
85x7x3

Still not doing any upper body work because I'm not 100% confident with my lats. My legs felt fine tonight. It must've just been a cramp last time I did squats.

eh, i think you should ask for $65K. if they want you but don't want to pay you that much they'll counteroffer. if they don't want you, it doesn't matter how much you ask for.

that's a good point. i noticed the job posting was taken down, which means they've already narrowed down their candidates to me and some others. I asked the HR guy for the job posting and he sent me one that seems to be for a senior info sec analyst position by accident. emailed them back to confirm but nothing... the job duties are a ton, and they required 3+ years infosec exp... fake it till ya make it!

Good luck with the interview!!!

Superstar!

You know you listen to 2 much hip hop when somebody mentions Brooklyn and your first thought is Jay Z.

The training facilities in the US look great. How's the food over there? Is it true that all the portion sizes are huge? Which city are you heading to next?

You're going nicely Coges.
Having a smaller waist is always a good sign.

I would understand lack of coordination for dribbling, maybe shooting. But passing? There's nobody that's stopping you from having great court vision, especially with the added height. There's nothing stopping you from being aware of the teammates' positions on the floor. There's no limitation in throwing a pass to the right guy.

Passing is more of an awareness thing than anything else. Height should have no implication in that.

Most big guys especially at the amateur level look very uncoordinated. Maybe they just have slower reaction times when it comes to passing or they just chose not to pass the ball very often.  It's hard to think of many big guys that are great passers and who rack up assists.

The usual suspects all have DOMS from yesterday. All day I've been sitting in my office looking out the window and it's been sunny. I've been slack with running in the past few weeks so I was looking really forward to doing a few 100m tempos tonight for cardio. 4pm and with 1 hour to go it starts pouring with rain and hasn't stopped since >:( FML

I'll update this post later.

sucks man.

happens all the time in south florida.. hate that. I remember way back, amp'd up dunk sessions getting rained out, always was a big letdown. hEH!!

is your truck 'rubberized'? if so, could you do lighter sprints on it with spikes?

pc!

Nah it's just a very poorly maintained grass track. I ended up just putting on a singlet, t-shirt, jumper and a raincoat and going out and running the tempos.

6x100m with 2 minutes rest
The first 1 was 15.5 seconds so I adjusted the speed and the rest of the 100s were all done between 14.4 and 14.8 seconds.

I can still run in the rain, but I guess it just comes down to a motivation issue. As for spikes I try and use them very sparingly. I use them if I race (haven't raced for almost 3 years) and doing speed sessions otherwise I don't use them at all because I find spikes place a lot of pressure on my calves/achilles.

I feel you with the outdoor courts though. I haven't been able to play pick-up for about a month now because we always play on outdoor courts and we've just got rained out. I remember I tried jumping on a damp court and I ended up falling on my ass haha.
