WHY WOULD IT BE VERY LITTLE?

Because there is so much more to increasing overall athletic performance.

Squatting alone won't make you elite.

yes, but it is one of the prime factors in increasing amount of force, which is equal to more force on the ground, which is equal to FASTER AND MORE EXPLOSIVE ATHLETES.

in b4 'but they can run and dunk'

would increasing ones squat 100 lb yield to any improvements in athleticism?

If he put 100lbs on his squat I still couldn't see realistically a big increase in there performances.

if no, why not?

very powerful/fast hip flexion is going to influence max velocity of a sprint, not movements in basketball.

ok you mentioned their are a zillion things you can do, name some more?

pc

Never felt any soreness in my hip flexors from squatting

cuz that's ALL THAT MATTERS...right?

btw, explain to me why "pulling back on the pedal stroke" would utilize the hip flexors as the prime movers?

doesn't make much sense.

You just have to try it man. It's the most intense hip flexor exercise there is.

you're gonna have one hell of a hangover tomorrow morn breh

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: Help With Program / Double-Checking Form
« on: July 22, 2011, 09:59:05 pm »
Thanks Lance!

I'm actually getting a little discouraged now though...  I've had exams all week and I missed my first workout day, and obviously don't have enough time left in the week to get both days in.

I was reading through the FAQs in VJB about it, and he said if you miss a day, don't try to make it up, but rather just pick back up with your regularly scheduled workout the next scheduled day.

Is there anyway I can make up the missed day, I feel like I haven't been in the gym for years just from missing the first day, lol.

I WILL be working out tomorrow, but I don't know if I should be doing the workout that was planned for day 1 this week, or just forget day 1 and continue with day 2 (but then I feel like I'm cheating myself and will never get that day back).  Exams suck lol.

you could try what I started to do for some time when I was missing days, and just go straight on with the workouts regardless of which day it is.  ---ex: you miss a workout, just make it up asap and proceed with schedule instead of setting each workout to a specific day.

might work for you, sure did for me when my schedule got kinda hectic couple months ago.

Dude, I am a retard that didnt read the rules, I am also trying to get banned... =.=

Stealing peoples work is not a good thing, its a cowardly thing.

Loll, Piracy is the best! I'll stop it on this forum though, haha...

most people who pirate those basketball dvd's never actually use any of them, and waste the time that they could be training.

not gonna lie I was close to this point back when streetballtalk was my main forum...but srsly, doesn't matter WHAT damn 'program' you use as long as your lifting numbers go up, you shoot a lot of game-speed jumpers, play against good competition, etc.

Now, other questions...

*With my extra body fat I currently have, will I still see gains while at this weight?
*Anyway I can lean up additionally outside of the VJB program as I'm doing the program 2 days a week?
*When can I play basketball for cardio and skill work while I'm doing this program without hurting my progress?

Of course you can still gain inches on your vert at that weight, but of course the FASTEST inches will come from shedding off that fat and getting down to at least 12%.

????  You lean up by doing exercise and proper diet...  Your cardio is basketball ONLY!  If you want to burn more calories on top of basketball and your VJB, do high intensity stuff to supplement your vertical jump goals, like sprinting or something.

You can play basketball and do skill work whenever the hell you want, but just make sure you're not letting it hinder your vertical jump workouts.  Just listen to your body.  Some people can handle bball EVERYDAY, with bball before or after there vertical jump workouts on the workout days, while some people need some rest days.  Whatever you can handle.  Skill work/shooting around/short pick up games can actually help recovery.

If you wanna do VJB, go for it, but make sure your diet is in check and get leaner/lighter and you should be getting some quick gains in the beginning.

boom.

sup man, get a journal!

Haha, 500 :ibsquatting: :wowthatwasnutswtf:

Would that be of any benefit at all if I were to do it? Or just a huge chance taking?

haha, well youre still having to do a ton of work, its all you at the top but its a royal pain in the ass getting into gear and learning to use it. The suit helps you out of the hole like a sling shot, the canvas suit literally catches your hips, feels like you sat into a swing.  Its kind of like pushing an already moving car at that point, if you keep it moving you got it, you let it slow down and youre fucked.  The last time I put on a canvas suit we almost had to cut it off of me, I was literally PULLING down as hard as i could with my hip flexors and still couldnt hit parallel until the weight got over 600lbs.  It felt like a toy on the way up though.

You still get stronger in a general sense in bench shirts and squat suits, and one of the benefits is that it gets you used to supra maximal weights and strengthens the hell out of the top part of the lift. The downside is how uncomfortable it is, and if you dont do any raw lifting you get very weak at the bottom of the lifts.    Training with very heavy weights in a bench shirt made my triceps grow more than anything Ive ever done.  If you wanted to try it, I would definitely go with a single ply ipf legal suit at first, its much easier to lift in and learn the suit.
