super quick journal

02/16/2015: run 4.1 mi, bodyweight strength
02/17/2015: run 3.4 mi
02/18/2015: run 4.1 mi (90% of the run done midfoot, some forefoot), bodyweight strength

midfoot run was feeling fast.. still not adapted i imagine i'll be pretty sore tomorrow. forefoot strikes felt the best.

must keep striving for my ideal form.

full plantar flexion extending on to big toe

ah, the impossible dream. after i dunk, i'll make sure my gravestone reads "dunked a basketball without full use of his big toes."

ETA: have you thought about going back to more traditional shoes for SL jumping? your feet are taking a beating from running, i imagine, and SL jumping is about as challenging an activity as there is for feet.

ya I think about it on occasion.. but, my feet feel fine when jumping, it's this shin issue. I've had it before plenty of times, eventually it goes away so i'm hoping history repeats itself.

other than that, there's a bunch of variables i'd rather tweak before switching shoes: bodyweight (i'm 180, need to be 150-160), surface (indoor jumping would be much easier on my body), need to get in better shape, need to let this shin splint disappear, need more reactive work, need more rest, more sleep. etc

my SLRVJ feels pretty good. I'm feeling pretty bouncy. I havn't been jumping much because running is still my #1 priority.

On a positive note, I am the most ripped I have ever been in my life.

nice. you've been pretty ripped before. sounds like you're shredded now.

once i can dunk i think i'm going to make getting jacked my next goal. would be fun to be shredded and 10 pounds heavier than i currently am.

nice

bw = 182
soreness = calfs
aches/injuries = a few toes bruised, left shin splint slightly (feel it when jumping)

Afternoon Session: jump, bodyweight strength

Jumps:
- L-SLRVJ: 123" touch
- R-SLRVJ: couldn't get 120"
- shitty.. felt good though. havn't jumped in a while so, probably decent. Also the left splint thing holds me back.

Evening Session #1: run, bodyweight strength

shoes: vibram bikila evo
surface: pavement/concrete

Run: 3.4 mi
- fast
- more heel->toe than midfoot, but still fast
- felt very light

Bodyweight Strength:

Pushups: BW @ 32
Neutral Grip Pullups: BW @ 7
SL semi-shrimp squat: BW @ 12 e
SL calf raise: BW @ 10 e
Standing hamstring curl #1: 10 e
Standing hip ext: 10 e
Standing hamstring curl #2: 10 e
Standing straight leg hip flexion: 10 e
Standing hip adduction: 10 e
Standing double leg calf raise, full plantar flexion extending on to big toe: BW @ 10

None of those standing movements are with 'swinging'. Nice and controlled with pause. Feel like a 'chick' but also feel the activation/targeting these weaknesses, so it's all good.

Evening Session #2: stretch

- Bunch of stretching.

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: none
ACHES/INJURIES: sick but mostly over it; left shoulder
MENTAL STATE: see above, otherwise good

- warm up

- DLRVJ x a bunch
near-PR off one step (33+), dunked mini soccer ball with first four-step jump,

nice!

all downhill after that.

not nice!

Quote
about 45 minutes total, still not quite right health-wise but i think i'll feel normal tomorrow.

how'd it go down hill? is it related to being sick/health? curious

Will post some vid tmw.

3-point contest was ridiculous. First round was pretty crazy. 23 just to get into the second round? wtf? Curry is a freak with 27. Isn't that a record?

Lavine is so smooth with serious hops. Other dude from the magic had two very good dunks. Lavine needs to try some serious dunks next contest. He's capable of putting on a historic show, just needs to take some bigger risks.
