how wrong was I?

wow wtf?

drank too much last night. buddy i hadn't seen in a long time hit me up. also had a date, which will not lead to a second date (woman was not attractive enough). between the two things, too much beer. was a bit hung over earlier but not too badly. heading to the gym now (3 PM), hope it doesn't affect training too much. poor sleep quality last night (obviously alcohol-linked in part, see below).

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: none
ACHES/INJURIES: none (even the little hitch that's been in my hip for so long that i don't log it was not there)
MENTAL STATE: very good

- warm up
included 3x3 DL bounds

- DLRVJ x ~10
near-PR levels, a bunch of strong dunks with the dodgeball. excellent. one jump in particular something just clicked and felt different/better than the others. easily 36".

- squat 295 x 5

- bench 190 x 5

- RDL 235 x 8,8,8

- kroc row 80 x 21L,21R

- paused leg press calf raise +295 x 20,20

- stretch

wow, great workout. decided to switch squat and bench going forward to a kind of wave approach, so day 1 is 3x5, day 3 is MSEM x 8-10, and day 6 is 1x5 with more weight than day 1, and then the next week's day 1 uses that day 6 weight.

DIET
breakfast: smoothie, cup of coffee
lunch:
dinner:
other: cup of coffee

SLEEP
6 hours, plus 3 hours dozing but not sleeping because my fucking neighbors are having some construction done on their house that involves a power saw and a nail gun.

just bumping this post since it was edited later and "fell behind".

good stuff man!$!@# seemed like a great session.

Bio: Morning

sleep = 8.5 hours
wakeup = 7:30 AM
bw = 160 !!
morning resting heart rate = 43
soreness = calves slightly
aches = none
injuries = some toe nails (two purple)

Session: Morning

pouring rain again, the entire session.. running was not as fun as yesterday.. lifting in the rain was fun though.

warmup run:
- ~0.5 mi

jumps:
- relaxed slrvj: L-SLRVJ = ~10' touches, R-SLRVJ = ~9'6" backboard touches
- did these on a soaked court in the rain
- it's interesting that I can relaxed SLRVJ on a wet court, but not relaxed DLRVJ.. my DLRVJ had too much "slam on the breaks" form with my lateral plant.
- left plantar fasciae tweaked a little on one of the jumps

run: 40 minutes
- slow, weak
- not eating that second can of beans yesterday is probably the culprit.. lacked the energy to push myself
- or..
- i was somewhat hungry (related to the above). Had I wokeup at 5:30 and run earlier, I might have been able to run better without that hunger feeling attacking my mind.

lift: mSEM (m = moderate)
- next session: maybe tuesday
- felt strong, unlike in my run

close stance bb half squat:
- 185 lb. x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1
- felt great & strong, can most likely bump it up next session
- very close stance

standing bb overhead press:
- 85 lb. x 1, 1

bb romanian deadlift:
- 135 lb. x 1, 1, 1, 1

standing bb curl:
- 85 lb. x 1, 1, 1

Food

- 1 x greek yogurt
- 1 x orange juice
- some chocolates

Food

- steak quesadilla
- a ton of tortilla chips and habanero salsa

Food

- 1 x vanilla soy milk
- 1 x greek yogurt

Food

- 1 x greek yogurt

Food

- 1 x greek yogurt

Bio: Evening

bw = 163 lb.
soreness = calves, quads slightly, hamstrings slightly
aches = right knee slightly
injuries = same as morning, left plantar fasciae slightly

Computer Programming

- ported some LCG (linear congruential generator) from my haskell daimyo repo to a new golang daimyo repo:
- https://github.com/adarqui/daimyo-go/tree/master/src/random/lcg
- not too fun but just more of an exercise
- i plan to start some more daimyo repos: daimyo-{ocaml,rust,javascript,c}
- daimyo-* is just some training group concept I use when doing random coding exercises. I put everything into a big re-useable library.

- I need to look into fixing this pull request I did for tcpdump: https://github.com/the-tcpdump-group/tcpdump/pull/441
- It adds "RESP" (redis serialization protocol) support to tcpdump. This PR has been going on for a LONG TIME. Need to look into it soon.. kind of dreading it though considering how long it takes to get responses etc. I could potentially fix it then wait another year before someone replies, lmao.
- tcpdump is awesome though, would love to add more protocols to it.

figured i'd rest tonight.. still pouring rain. didn't feel like going out there and toughing it out.

was very happy with the lifting session.

I need to get in some higher volume jump sessions soon.. I want to try this "relaxed up and back full court jump" session (just jogging up one end, L-SLRVJ, jogging back the other end, R-SLRVJ, repeat) -> for ~30 minutes for example. I'm more interested in submax jumping right now because I still have alot of work to do before i'm comfortable REALLY jumping max using SLRVJ.

sorry to misattribute to vag!  :P

np hah

he is the one who has seemed to most embrace it in the last couple years though.

i stopped training completely, thus I embraced it the most.  :trollface:

AELS is vag's term, i think: anti-ego lifting squad. don't go for sudden milestones just because they make you feel like a baller, especially if going for them might get you hurt.

will go for 315 next week (not this coming wednesday but the following one).

Nah, not mine, adarqui it was you that invented the term:

Ffffuuuu, can't paste it from mobile, search aels, it has its own thread.

damn.. i forgot

Hey good to see you logging coding as well. I wanna start doing the same. I'll be following your progress on that front! Yall know way more about than training than i do so i rarely post about it outside my log but i wanna improve my coding game too.

cool! what kind of coding you do? what languages?

I busted out my SSTM book (the last SSTM that Verkhoshansky wrote). Probably going to re-read it. Bounced around, was alot of fun reviewing some of that stuff.

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: THE DREAM JOURNAL
« on: December 04, 2015, 10:24:04 pm »
i keep forgetting to log this.. anyway, on 11/29/2015 I had this INSANE terrorism dream. long story short:

i'm in some big city, just walking in some building, then everything goes black and my ears are blown out, all I hear is ringing.. shortly after, I see all of these terrorist events happening, but i'm not there. I see terrorist-like shooters shooting at people. the interesting part is, I saw four of these events happen and in each one the people didn't run; instead they tried to bumrush/overwhelm the shooter. In 2/4 of the cases it worked. In the other two cases, people rushing just got annihilated. Instead of assault weapons they had like.. gatling guns. it was fucked.

so many active journals and so many people doing well has me fired up to go train tonight.

ya

 :ibsquatting:

alot of us train alone, so lots of people busting ass in journals definitely has a "training partner" feel to me.

mantra is "AELS, AELS, AELS" -- i'm tempted to kick MSEM squats all the way up to 315.  :-X :highfive:

what's AELS?

Quote
- squat MSEM 305 x 10
~45-60s rests. bar was popping. sixth rep was a little wobbly so i took a bit of extra rest and refocused. rest good.

nice! when are you bumping up to 315?

Oh yeah, he was never knocked out, but in his match against andy lee he was dropped, so maybe if jacobs finds that chance. maybe.

ya, andy lee has insane power though. he's someone no one wants to get hit by. jacobs doesn't have that kind of power, i think Quillin will be good in that respect.. don't see him going down at all.
