4 out of the 14 bougainvillea cuttings i planted, have now grown leaves.

has me excited af.

i want hundreds of bougainvilleas soooo.. figuring out how to propagate them is essential.

these little photos are why i'm so excited (lmao):

welcome (again).

if you can get it done (dunk at 60) that'd be some pretty impressive stuff. going to be very tough, but who knows. regardless, could improve strength & body composition considerably as part of the journey.

just be careful getting back into jumping IMHO (in my humble opinion). don't rush that, and perhaps do your jumps on a good wooden springy gym floor - not concrete for example.

i do like this sentence: "I am looking to disprove the notion that extreme exercise efforts is required to develop a high vertical leap."

achieving higher performance with less extreme efforts would be nice. extreme efforts would be after one has reached the advanced stages though, after many years of training. at that point, some of the methodologies used & intensities of workouts can be quite high, which does carry more risk.

i'm personally not a big fan of "top secret" stuff. to me it'd make more sense to "disclose" the exercise, and if it makes sense, other people can try it as well etc. even if people didn't believe in it or try it etc, if you do, that's all that really matters. belief systems are very important. all good tho.

Could someone please explain how to add a respect point to another persons comment? I can't find out how to do that. Thank you.

it's just the up vote on each post. that'll do it.

I just joined this forum a few days ago and am making this intro posting. I'm 6 feet tall even. I forgot to mention that in the video. I use to play playground basketball back in the 1980's and early 90's until health problems forced me to stop playing. I just bought a cheap basketball today and may get some exercise just shooting hoops and running after the ball at a nearby playground.

I invented something that may interest a lot of you. I couldn't find anything like it on the internet, so I made one myself. It's a "hand spread stretcher". Bought the Velcro strips at Walmart.

cool Russ, thanks for sharing!

i personally wouldn't use something like that for a few reasons:
1. just don't think it would be more effective than "manual" hand stretching - and i don't know if manual hand stretching would help much
2. i feel like palming exercises with an actual ball (or slightly smaller etc), would be more effective
3. i also feel like general hand strength exercises would be more effective (pinch grip training for example), to just improve overall finger strength/dexterity

that said, i'm sure people would try it though.

also, your hand looks enormous in that video, lmao. could just be the camera angle/distortion though. :ninja:

peace man & welcome!
Thanks adarqui. I will measure my right hand spread sometime today and post a pic with a tape measure to show it's size and then try my stretcher for a few months and then measure again to see what happens.

hah cool. curious to see how that turns out.

You are correct about just practice palming a basketball. I played ball right handed, and due to that, my right hand spread is wider than my left hand even though I haven't played ball since about 1993.

ya i can imagine it would lead to some extra hand "size" (musculature, bone density, etc) on the dominant hand. i recall it's similar with leg length inequality also (due to the overuse of the dominant jumping leg w/ layups etc), but i could be wrong.. dno just did a quick search, probably alot more on it:

Mo announces he is back on the track for the 2020 olympics, trying to take Gold @ 10 km.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/nov/29/mo-farah-back-on-the-track-ten-thousand-metres-tokyo-olympics-athletics

wonder if he can do it without salazar's magic potions.  :ninja:

same. fuqn salazar. bleh.

Mo be in incredible shape after all of the marathon training he's been doing. his speed will come back. so i think he'd be a legit threat.

right now, cheptegei is looking like the man to beat at 10k. but he may try to double in 2020 (5k/10k). if he does that, then dno.

he got injured last year tho so dno. hope he keeps it going. love how he races - usually trying to lead the entire way.

i'm sure that's true, about racing more frequently.

also, turns out i'm an idiot who can't do anything right and the race is next sunday. there was a different race today that i considered signing up for and ultimately decided not to because it's far away and victoria park is local. but today is the date that stuck in my head. the one i signed up for is in my calendar correctly and everything, i just didn't bother to check. lololololol, damn it. well, maybe i'll go to the hackney marshes parkrun today and try to PR anyway, given that i've tapered this week and, as adarq said, racing makes you better at racing. but then maybe it's too close to the actual target race to put forth 100% effort? maybe i'll use hackney marshes to two-mile test or 3k test as that guy recommended? idk, i'm so keyed up at this point that i think i should just get it over with and run hard. i'm overthinking it. there will be other races, if i fuck it up this week i can just try again.

 :uhhhfacepalm:

damn lmao.

probably worked out for the better tho.. probably cared a bit less about today's race.

well, i fucking did it.

- 5k race in 19:55
splits: 3:55, 4:00, 3:58, 3:58, 4:03

 :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

ETA: didn't print out a barcode so i won't get an official time, but that's okay. watch time actually took me past the course finish, so official time would have been a few seconds faster. incidentally, mapmyrun has a weirdly big gap between km pace and km elapsed time splits. the latter gives a time of 19:37. dunno why that would be, usually elapsed time is longer, if anything, because it accounts for stopping for road crossings. garmin site says 19:55 as well so let's go with that.

felt the pain especially between 3.5-4.5 km. pace was slowest around 3.6-3.7 but managed to surge enough that when i died in the last few hundred meters i had enough buffer to make it under the 20:00 mark. a little disappointed that i faded so badly and was slowing down at the finish but, under the circumstances -- first race in more than a year, run at all-time PR pace, at 9 AM after <7 hours of sleep -- not THAT disappointed.

really awesome man. glad you went for it and got it done. :goodjobbro: :highfive: :headbang: :wowthatwasnutswtf: :ibrunning:

9 AM start is kinda nice too (would be less stressful for me, sleep-wise). it's harder here koz it's alot hotter by 9. most races start at 7/7:30. really hated racing on severe lack of sleep.

I forgot to post this. But seems it's legit.

Khabib nurmagomedov will take on tony ferguson on UFC 18th April.

Great fight. I'm not familiar with how good ferguson but have heard that he is the only top contender worthy of a shot against khabib.

nice! the build up to that will be exciting. but Khabib should manhandle him.

Khabib on another level. :strong:

big fan of his. he doesn't fu*k around.
